I want to try a different class for shadowlands and I’m thinking arms warrior
I’m not a big fan of fury’s play style
How is arms looking for shadowlands? Mainly pve with some casual pvp on the side
I didn’t play Beta as much as I wanted, but from a PvE side, arms will be more than capable of clearing current content and on the PvP side, it is looking like the 2nd best melee if not the best.
BFA arms and SL arms will be very very different. If you are used to BFA style (if you played arms before) then get ready to relearn the class to a degree.
How hard do you push content? If you’re trying for the highest m+ you can muster, or Mythic progression raiding, you might be rolling the dice with lackluster odds sticking with Arms. For Arenas I think the spec will be solid, but there’s no guarantee it won’t be middle of the pack for PvE.
If you aren’t pushing progression hard, then you’ll likely be fine.
Yeah I’m just doing mythic plus and whatever raids I can get into
Not trying to be the best
Hey Auzz i played arms in Bfa, what is so different now compared to then ? I see we have Intervene to think of but i dont see many differences
Well, I’ve taken a little bit of a break from the game and forums, revisited classic a bit, etc as I normally do during garbage time (the dead time between xpacs), but I came back 2 days ago and this is what I’ve found:
For PvE, the extent of my experience thus far is basically killing Nathanos, doing Icecrown dailies, and the various rares that spawn around Icecrown. Arms plays much slower, which is expected when you’re going from 80%+ haste to say, 20%ish. I have no complaints with that. I know some don’t enjoy it, but to me I like that fury is the fast paced GCD locked spec, and if you don’t like that you have the option of arms which is slower paced. The swings definitely feel beefier. Overall I’ve really been enjoying arms the last 2 days.
In PvP, my experience is that of 2 random BGs, 2 Korrak’s Revenge BGs, several occasions of WPvP, a couple arena skirms, and 1 rated 2v2 (around 2300mmr) where me and a buddy were trolling.
I got ganked once by a rogue right after the 2v2 arena while I had no CDs because of the arena. I came back, killed him very easily, along with a hunter and a paladin. And it wasn’t even close. I mean I absolutely destroyed these people. Easiest 1v3 of my life (the pally and hunter weren’t the most geared, but probably around 105-110ish iLvl). Other WPvP situations were also not very close. I felt like I was capable of killing anything and everything.
The 2v2 we lost against a destro/rogue but that’s because for some reason I wasn’t able to use my PVP trinket in a PVP instance…figure that one out. Otherwise it would have been an easy win.
Now, in the 4 BGs, I really felt like a wrecking ball. 2 WSGs and the 2 AVs. I won multiple 1v1s in the AVs trying to defend/take the mines, mostly against mages and rogues. In team fights I felt solid, defnitely more tanky than before. In the WSGs I 1 shotted a Spriest and a rogue, twice (thanks to Crushing Assault procs [which will be going away, so enjoy it while it lasts]).
Overall, it plays slower, but the rotation hasn’t changed much from my experience. The swings are alot chunkier, and we’re much tankier than in BFA.
Again, take this with a grain of salt because a couple random BGs and some dailies aren’t really “content”. But I feel good going forward.
Warrior in general is a weak dueling and wpvp spec. It really shines with a healer. Just about every equally skilled player with roughly equal gear should be able to beat a warrior in a duel.
That said warrior can still be very fun and rewarding to play and if you are an abover average player there will be plenty of duels you will win and in wpvp there are so many elements that can be involved almost anything can happen.
I’ve been bouncing between warrior and shaman and between ignore pain and keeping your mortal strikes up while smacking execute warrior just is soo much easier to reliably beat things into the ground.
Mastery change, execute phase is different now. FOB doesn’t look to be as good as it was in BFA due to lack of haste. Rend change (unless the cirt thing was in BFA?)
-Intervene as you already know.
-master changed as the other posted said.
-Ignore pain baseline for more survivability.
-Impending Victory talent was buffed so it’s now a 30% heal on a 30s cooldown and still resets on KB’s.
-Spell reflect baseline, but only reflects one spell.
Then tuning stuff, more borrowed power systems that are great too with SL. I could be missing a few things but that’s the stuff on top of my head.
With the changes, Arms Warriors are pretty strong in PvP and I think are better off in PvE too compared to BFA.
It’s fairly boring pve wise, as usual. PvP is fun and bursty. The issues arms has with rage starvation and general button waiting are more or less, negated by the natural ebb and flow of PvP.
Those issues are usually overblown.
Tell that to the rest of the warrior community.
If you take Skullsplitter it’s not a big issue.
What a way to defer any need to defend what you said.
Enjoying it so far having leveled it twice and played around some dungeons with it.
