Housing suggestions

Hi, I am sure these have have been suggested but I’d like to suggest these 3 main ones:

  1. Undo button (Sims 1, 2, 3, 4 utility idea) if you create a decor item like making a platform for example and remove it then think oh I should have kept that, you can undo it and bring it back.
  2. Garden your flowers for herbs similar to garrison if that isn’t already coming.

Edit: 3. Stairwell room to add rooms option so the stairwell can be the center room and you can build rooms to it.

I would love a little garden with herbs from all the different expansions. A caveat though, make those plants decor achievements for maxing herbism in the different expansions.

People will freak and say “this is garrisons!” but it isn’t. Garrisons failed because people used their alt army to create dozens of garrisons per account and flooded the market with cheap herbs. You also didn’t need to be an herbalist to grow a garden.

No. If you want to farm profession resources, go to the open world.

It is not. At least not in the way I am reading your suggestion. Blizzard has already stated that they will not be adding anything that gives any kind of advantage outside of housing. Having a garden that grows useful herbs would be an advantage outside of housing. And I agree with Blizzard on this. Adding world herbs to the neighborhood would be a net negative for housing.

It is possible that Blizzard could allow a garden that grows entirely cosmetic things and/or toy type items. In that regard we could have a ‘functional’ garden that gets tended. I just would not be any of the world herbs. But nothing has been said regarding a garden at all. So, it may or may not be even on their list. And I would fully support a garden that gave decor, toy type items, etc. As long as none of it gives outside of neighborhood advantages.

Makes absolutely no difference where the herbalist picks their herbs and this encourages people to be outside enjoying their neighborhood. Nothing worse than flying through and seeing no one.

It does if it effects the rate they can gather herbs. If you can spend 30 secs planting, then come back and spend 30 secs gathering why wouldn’t everyone do it? That creates a pressure for everyone to engage with housing, even if they have no interest in housing. That makes neighborhoods worse and annoys people that are not interesting in housing.

So, to avoid that you would have to make the personal time spent planting and gathering the herbs greater than the time plus risk of gathering in the world. And you would have to limit it to herbalists (which seems counter productive to housing). That just doesn’t seem like a system that would make people happy.

No, it encourages people to make a quick run to the neighborhood and then leave every herb cycle. And worse, it encourages people who have no interest in housing to take a plot, leave it and the house bare, and just have a garden.

That’s very incorrect. That system lets you generate resources in housing, log in, and get skill points and sellable items for free. That makes housing a way of generating gold or consumables without interacting with the actual world, which should never be a thing. The second there are functional benefits to housing, it is an issue.

What a load. Herbalists already have paths where they “farm”. This would actually be out of those farming paths (less herbs/hr) and it would be a nice way to gather earlier expansion plants while beautifying their homes. If you are worried about the benefit extend the timer on growth. I think it’s a wonderful idea.

You already get herbs/ore for free - you fly around and pick it up. It doesn’t cost anything.

I love suggestion number 3 there. I really want more customization of stairwell rooms as well to make them feel more central to the house!

No it wouldn’t. For a few reasons.

  • The most obvious: They can start with the housing, then go to their farm paths.
  • Next, the go to housing button lets you teleport from the world to your plot and then return to where you left. They could literally take any point in their farm path, go to the garden to gather, and then return where they left.
  • Third, housing garden lets people gather even if they are not herbalist. Which becomes an advantage for anyone without an herbalist.

So, you end up gaining herbs/hr. The only way around that is to add a long duration to the planting/gathering to slow things down to be less herbs/hr. And I don’t think anyone wants long planting times.

That doesn’t solve it. The issue is not how long the herbs take to grow. Players wont be standing around waiting for them to grow, they will be out doing other things. The value to the player is how long the planting and gathering part take. So, the only way to reduce the reward per time value is to increase the actual planting and harvesting time, the played time doing it. And nobody is going to want to have gardens take the amount of played time needed to balance out farming in the world.

Alternate brainstorm suggestion for garden plants…

Plant decos that randomly drop during harvesting, that are either warbound or not bound at all.

I think there are several possibilities.

  • Decor. This feels obvious.
  • Cooking mats, specifically the same mats you can by from vendors. And have seeds cost roughly the same as the mats from vendor. Only value is the RP/sense of home grown.
  • Toy type consumables. Think things like the cake that gives you a ‘Happy’ buff, the bottles you can throw from Brew of the Month, etc. Think having your character throw a tomato at a player, be chewing on a carrot for X time, have a flower in their hair for X time, drop a trail of leaves/petals for a time, etc.

There are fun things that can be done to make a garden on your plot interesting without needing to attach it to crafting/gathering progression/value.

Yes to the undo button, so many times picked up something by accident and messing everything up.

For the herbalism thing, we have a section in the sub talents where we start collecting seeds and need to plant them in ‘rich soil’ around the place. why isn’t this part atteched to the housing? we can only plant the seeds we collect from normal herbalism.

Can we please have already own decos still count as house xp . Would love to have it repeat xP at like 8xp per deco etc . Have the first of that item be +10 then after that +8 ,+5 +1 so on and so on . Decos on ah are expensive and it’s only good for like one each . It makes house leveling annoying plz fix

We literally have proof because of what happened in WoD

No. You want it, use the garrison or the pandaria garden. Didnt make one? Tough. Thats what they are there for. Stop being lazy.

We Already level too fast.

Lol no it doesnt. You just want to play the game even less than you already are so you can log off quicker.
