Now that housing is more openly testable I am having a lot of fun with it and there’s a lot of potential. I think there are some things that could be added in future patches that I’d like to suggest:
Housing Loadouts: I think one key issue currently is there no easy way to swap houses and some people have different ideas of what house their different characters would have. For example for my main I’d want a Draenei themed house favoring decor from that race but for my druid I’d want something more night elf. If there was a way to save a house loadout of the exterior/interior I think that would be cool.
Another use for this would be for roleplayers to crate different interior buildings for roleplay. For example I’ve seen some creative use where some players even made a cave in their house. That is cool for having an roleplaying adventure in. The problem lies in that it takes the place of your house and I hope there is an easy way to say swap between your home and something you want to use for an RP campaign with friends.
New Areas: I am pleased with the different biomes that both neighborhoods have. I’m glad the Razorwind shore went with a lot of tropical areas too. I do hope there is some more added in the future. I am assuming no new neighborhood maps will be added.
So for example in the mouintains of Founder’s Point I think a snowy area could be added with a Dun Morogh vibe. Then in Razorwind Shores there could be some floating rocks that have houses on them to evoke a Nagrand feel. Have it be explained as shamans or an aftermath of a Primalist attack in pre-patch.
More Exterior Options: I am glad human. orc. blood elf and night elf are going to be in at launch since those are the top 4 most played races. I do hope this will be expanded over time like how Heritage sets were and for every core race up to Pandaren to receiving a their own housing exterior. I think that would take a few years but well worth it to add a variety of house choices.
Interior designs: I would love to see more options for the interior of houses. Things like wallpaper or painting the walls a different color. Deciding if the floor is hardwood or if it is made of stone I think would be nice choices for races to show their differences and add immersion.

With housing launched now I have to say the Draenei decor seems more expensive than most other racial decor. I can afford it but for most players that are draenei fans probably can’t drop tens of thousands of gold. This is largely due to draenei decor being primarily from Burning Crusade crafting professions and requiring Khorium which is expensive to get.
I hope in the future there will be some easier ways to get draenei decor - or if they could be the next exterior housing design after night elf/blood elves that would be nice since their architecture is extremely unique.
Music Box: After seeing the skybox rooms on beta and visiting my garrison for repeated WoD trips to get decor I’m reminded of the music box from that expansion. It would be the perfect way to set up the atmosphere for our houses to choose what music plays. It could also give a reason to do even more content by adding music rolls to various sources in the game to collect similar to how it was done during WoD.

A couple of additional thoughts/suggestions:
Music - There’s an addon that allows for this but I agree that it would be much better in-game. I really want to be able to set the mood for my house. Do I want creepy cemetery vibes? Tranquil meditation? Or Goblin mayhem?
Battle pets: One of the best part of Garrison IMO was that pets and mounts could be displayed. This one might be a bit tough to do as specifically as I’d want, but I have the concept in mind that a pet could be assigned to a room, or an area outside, to roam about. I’m specifically thinking of a room I created that would be really great to have a renamed Arfus poking about. People’s collections are important to them and being able to show them off, just like with their housing, would be huge.
Job creation: I know this might seem silly, but being able to designate someone as a designer on your behalf would be huge. Some in my guild are absolutely incredible with their vision and design concepts. And others of us… well we put down rock and say “Stay. Good rock.” Being able to designate an someone to edit a house on your behalf, or even certain parts of a house (specific rooms, or exterior, etc.) would be very helpful to allow for someone’s vision of what they want to translate to the page.

Part 2:
Purchasing items: Once we’ve unlocked an item, please allow us to just purchase it from the housing UI. We’ve already traveled the world to gather these items, please don’t make us have to travel back and forth when we may not know if we need 5 or 6 of an item. This is especially helpful for items with limited currency. Don’t make me spend any more time in mechagon than I have to! (Exception: Crafted items.)
Item Selection: When we’re placing an item, put the name on the UI. I recognize that it’s under “Placed Decor” and highlighted, but it’d be much more convenient if the item showed up under the edit house icon just like “Aero’s House” does normally.
Duplicate Item: There’s an addon doing this but it would be great to have as the base UI. I don’t think any explanation is really needed for this one.
Guest notice: Maybe while you’re in your house, a notice that someone else has entered. This one might be more difficult to do, but it seems like it would be a nice feature so you’re not surprised when moving stuff about.
Preview: In the preview of an item, we need to be able to rotate X, Y, and Z. Many items don’t show what they look like from above/below and this is important for viewing.

Legion troop achievement: This achievement is difficult for all the wrong reasons. I’ve played Legion when it was current and all my classes have champions with equipment that make it very hard to fail missions and get the troops killed. Having to fail missions does not feel like it warrants an achievement and I think either the game should do a check if that character has individually earned the achievement “Raise an Army” (recruit 20 troops) from Legion or reduce the amount from 20.
Lumber costs: This seems overly brutal for crafting things. I get the vision for trying to make the decor seem more unique and showing the effort put behind it but with the other costly reagents required it feels like overkill. Why does an elekk plushie need 8 lumber to be made when it is so tiny. Why does a singular tauren leather fence require 20 lumber?
I think a 50% reduction in lumber could go out and people would only be happy and it still show the effort of people going out to gather decor.
Decor:
- Skeletons, bones, a hand grasping out of the ground from Wrath would all be lovely for a Death Knight or Forsaken or even a home going for a haunted house vibe
- Frosty stuff like snowballs or a frost orb - there is a distinct lack of it!
- More Beastial races decor that come from centaur, gnolls, furbolg would be appreciated to help make a more savage Horde home
- Paintings from the game that already exist like the ones from Dalaran (both eras) and Kul Tiras
In general there is a lot of objects across every expansion from classic onwards that have not been added as decor yet like the ones I listed above. I hope old assets more get added as time goes on. Things like race rep vendors did not have as many as I’d have expected so maybe added there or with timewalking vendors.

I just want them to enable the “Magical Snow Sled” toy to work in the housing areas so I can make my WoW Rollercoaster Tycoon idea work!

What they need to do is take the music box that we had in the garrison and make it usable in our housing plots. I want to see them take the bits and bobs that made the garrisons personal (pets, mounts, music) and put it into our housing areas. Both my husband and I are sitting next to each other in our neighborhood, and he’s got some really cool pets. Heck I have some really cool pets that I don’t get to see all the time that I would love to see just roaming about.
I am curious to see what they do with housing moving forward. Like are they going to take the fishing from TWW into Midnight (yes you can fish in the neighborhoods, yes that blew my mind).
