Housing My Thoughts

Fist Housing would have to be instanced there is no getting around that
I would do it with aspects of a few games

1: Lord of the Rings Online: I would have housing in instanced villages like in LOTRO
2: rift: you would have the ability to actually Build a custom house if you want, I actually build a full amusement part in Rift was the best time playing
3: EQ2: I loved how you could layout your house in EQ2 from Paintings to rugs to decorations

What I would have
1: 100’s of Housing only quests from collecting items to killing rares for parts of items to complete an item
like collection a mirror from a boss in a dungeon and the frame from a Crafter

2: trade skills: Woodworking will current trades also able to produce stuff like Blacksmith can make sconces or Tailors
can make drapes, jewelers can make pretty knick-knacks and so on, you could even have a tradeskill able to make a complete small house

3: Tiers : 3 tiers of Housing developments Basic, Middles class, Exclusive gated community

4: Job Boards: this is where you can post jobs for people like collect me 50 stones for my fence or make me 6 sconces
for my walls, there could be endless jobs even a job for someone to Mow the lawn these jobs could reward token to be
used to buy certain items

5: The ability to not only improve your house visually by adding things like statues, rare items that may teleport
or buff or even change your appearance

6: toys and pets that roam your house and maybe actually do something ? like kill rats and when they do it so many times you get a reward in the mail

7: The ability to sell your place, ie : you build a nice House you fill it with furniture and items toys ect ect
now you want to move from Basic up to Middle class so you sell your house furniture included and if you have enough
saved up you buy a middle-class home.

well that’s just a start there is so so much more you can do with creative people developing Housing in WOW

Thanks

The Garrisons cloest thing to housing we had it phases to the player. Of course you can invite party members to your garrison, My point is that it in theroy can be done

I feel like this would make people stress out about if their house isn’t good enough. Or i cant farm X o Y to make it better or get into the next tier.Almost like adding another grind.

I feel it would add pride to what you created an a separate economy to the game , yes there would be a section of grinding but its a different grind as you are working towards something…

I’ve long wanted a form of player housing in WoW. It never much made sense to me how all the other big MMOs had it, but not the biggest one.

I especially feel like it would enrich other content, much as pet collecting does, by adding a new avenue of rewards. Not everyone would do it of course, but enough would that adding the feature in some form seems worthwhile to me.

not only that but amagine if Housing was somehow connected to Guild Housing

: If 5 people in your guild manage to get to exclusive housing your guild gets to build a tier 1 Guild house

Of if you are in a smaller guild you could hire contractors from other guild to build houses on your guild behalf to allow smaller guild to get Guild Housing to.

I thought this would be a thread about how the OP stores his thoughts.

OP, I am disappoint.

Please pass this around, the more people who watch this the better chance Blizzard sees it. Please, we Roleplayers are very under-appreciated in QoL stuff. This is well thought out, amazing, and really sounds so professional I think Blizzard would do well to do it. Honestly this needs to be seen, I have passed it around as much as I can, and we ALL need to do it.

Even if it’s as minimal as SWTORs Place-And-Lock system, we NEED this.

Also from HeelVsBabyface

These, when implemented, would make people explore the world, simply because the only way to get mats for furniture or trophies or anything, would be to explore the world, get achievements, fight bosses, and make Crafting not the joke it is now in BFA.

Blizzard has missed a golden goose and I honestly think they need to breath air into this.

One of the biggest reasons I stopped playing runescape was because the housting thing they did. I really enjoyed rs2. I spent many hours on it and then they started adding more and more and one of the biggest things I remember was the carpentry or whatever that skill was. I just could not get into it. It didn’t feel right and almost felt forced.

Kypookins I don’t think you want to know the thoughts that go thru my head on a daily basis :scream_cat:

I can has house I can invite friends and cute elfies to?

i never cared too much about character housing. and wod made the garrison like a home that i couldn’t decorate…
:star::mage:

Decorating is what makes it Housing… thats where garrisons failed to be real housing , although I like the garrisons for what they were.

I’d love housing. Garrisons were a huge flop and in my opinion, nothing like housing. There was no customization at all. Either you get a castle on Alliance side, or a mud hut on Horde side, there was not even any sort of different racial architecture you could select. Then, with garrisons, there was the BIGGEST flaw–it was tied to content.

Housing would need to be the opposite. A completely optional part of the game, like Allied Races, that you need to do content to actually get. Everyone is constantly repeating that PvE and PvP is the core content–so it would be a bad move entirely to make housing mandatory like garrisons were. Optional, however, would be great, and for the love of gods, with actual customization. I don’t know how they’d do this or if they will in the foreseeable future. I’d rather have instanced houses or guild neighborhoods though, none of the ā€˜gated’ neighborhoods or such like that, because I wouldn’t want to be bothered grouping with people I dislike.

If they do, do housing, the one thing I want them to think carefully on is the story. My Guild could still use the Garrison… if it weren’t located in another timeline.

"Oh, the War? Teldrassil? Shame. I just came in from working the islands, now I’m off to another timeline that could close down at any moment for no reason and strand me forever, but hey, it’s where my books are… " :unamused:

Please see that the ā€œentranceā€ to housing moves with every expac. My suggestion is for Guild housing to have a door in the expac’s major city hub.

Also, to add onto my thoughts, there was one thing that I think Garrisons did well, which was tying the little customization that there was to content. The statues are a good example (I loved the statues!) and the music rolls, which were drops. Perhaps have ā€˜housing currency’ for certain items, if they ever do this, tied in with content that you could do. And with other items, they could be profession based like many have mentioned here, because that would 100% make professions have much more of a point.

I feel like the garrison was a feeble attempt at housing and they just gave up on it after that.

Sad, because I think if the idea was revisited they could deliver something good with it.

This is why it won’t be in WOW. Blizz likes piling as many players into the same place as possible. They didn’t like the Garrison experiment, and neither did I.

Sorry, but don’t hold your breath.

Apparently in the new FFXIV expansion there’ll be a new housing estate, but players will first have to repair the war damage first to create the estate.

Imagine if they could do that in WoW, repair Silvermoon or the surrounds for example to create housing. That’d fix areas many have complained about for years and there’s be game play reasons for Blizzard to invest some time there.

Player housing would force you into the world to gather materials, find patterns, do quests etc to earn and improve your house. They would be vanity items, with no utility like garrisons had, so people wouldn’t stay in them most of the time.
