Housing is something many players wanted, congratulations ya got it. However, this addition should not in any way be required to progress, like the garrisons were designed.
If I never even break ground a house, my progress in the story or gear shouldn’t be blocked by that decision. Just, no.
You’ll probably be prompted to go through a tutorial quest at least, to get one set up.
Some of you just love conjuring up demons to fight.
Player housing isn’t going to be related to gear progression.
I can’t think of an MMORPG where it’s not. Would be silly to make them anything other than optional.
I mean WHY wouldn’t you want to participate in it?
I’ll play The Sims if all I want to do is decorate a videogame house.
It’s a slap in the face they told us for 20yrs housing wasn’t going to happen then when the market is down… oh how about some housing dangling from the end of this stick. So far only the usual suspects are excited for it. The kind of people asking for foot pics of raid bosses.

Theres a druid around here that feels its his job to create content for the boards so cone up with absolutely stupid bullcrap every day on topics that are just fekkin stupid as heck. I finally put him on ignore.
I don’t need or want a house, I’m a roaming murder hobo. A house for me will just be added to all the other things that have been abandoned, garrison, farm, class halls. Not gonna waste my time on a house just to abandon it.

You’re looking at someone who somehow managed to get pumpkins put up in their Garrison, and they’ve been there ever since. I simply haven’t bothered to hunt down how to change them.
I’m sure if I’m wandering around, and I loot a kobold in a dark hole and happen to get a chest of drawers or a tiffany lamp, yea, maybe I’ll take the moment to stick it somewhere (unless I can sell it for more than its vendor value on the AH!).
But, I don’t care. Were it not for my wife, the walls of my house would be bare. I’d live like Neal from Heat. This stuff simply doesn’t interest me.
Don’t engage with the content then? They’ve already stated that they will not be tieing player power into them (I believe Ion said it during his interview with Taliesan), so if you don’t want a house when it comes out don’t get one. Simple really.
They didn’t, though.
They’ve been saying pretty much since the beginning that it’s something they want to do and talk about often, but know that it would take time to develop and handle right.
I don’t know what you think you mean by this but basically everyone I’ve seen that isn’t doom posting like you has been excited for it.

They’ve already said that it’s not mandatory. There’s no player power tied to it.
I sure hope there’s no big long instance questing to do to unlock housing and its parts, like there is with the Garrisons.
All I picture this housing being is what’s shown in the video: One tiny room with several things in it. I hope it’s got a lot more going quantity and quality-wise than what is shown.
Everquest 2 can blow the doors off anybody’s housing. Holly Longdale of all people knows this. Why is Blizzard even bothering?
All progress anywhere in game should be based on the decorating of your house. To be randomly judged by other players weekly.
It should require the assistance of 4 other players to do anything in it.
All randomly queued, or you may use the new decoration lfg to list your
housing keys.
This is after all an Mmo and even though defined otherwise,
we should force grouping in all aspects of play.
I have a strong feeling that at some point I will do a quest and it will reward me with a piece of furniture.
And I will be mad.
So I’m going to be FORCED to do this? Ugh.

Look if they do such an amazing job it can’t be denied maybe I’m back on board. It would have been nice years ago when the community asked for it and not an afterthought being ressurected to drum up hype.
