Housing can fix professions

If done properly, housing can fix professions. You can implement literally every profession in the game for player housing, even archeology! You could even use old materials for different looks and patterns.

Picture a plot of land made available in every zone, maybe two in select larger zones.

This is the meta game the players deserve!

Anything that could “fix” the game and add relevance for character evolution means…it wont happen.

You know, part of the problem I have with each expansion is that all of the work we do just becomes irrelevant. There is nothing to memorialize all of that work.

Armor and weapon stands would be a good example of a way to get a nostalgia fix.

Yeah, crazy to think that we would want something to look at and see that our time was not completely wasted when all of the time we spent is completely erased in one patch every expansion cycle.

Not only would it revitalize crafting, but as long as it’s completely separate from player power Blizzard can go crazy in the shop like every other MMO with housing. As long as I can still buy them with gold they can put whole houses in there for all I care.

It’s a literal gold mine just sitting there and Blizzard has ignored it for well over a decade. It makes no sense.

WoD and garrisons prove you wrong.

Garrisons weren’t housing and prove nothing.

One difference would be that player housing would be something that would carry on through all future content.

I feel like housing would be a repeat of the high elf situation.

  1. Housing gets added. People complain about some aspect(s) of it over and over and over.

  2. Stuff gets added/changed. But it STILL isn’t “right” or “what we wanted and/or asked for” so the complaining continues

  3. Stuff effectively gets added that people asked for but it’s STILL WRONG!!! So the complaining continues.

ad infinitum

Possibly. But, isn’t that how every addition/change to the game goes?

if they added housing that would be a sign they’ve officially given up.

"You won’t engage in leveling so we removed it. You won’t engage in exploring the world and our little puzzles on a land mount so we caved and made flying available everywhere. You think mythic+ is toxic, Torghast is boring and refer to our dailies as “chores”. You have no interest in world PvP so we gave you a warmode to turn it off.

I don’t even know anymore… what about a house to decorate?"

I mean since blood elves are the most played Horde race and void elves are the most played Allied Race period, I would think “controversial but wildly popular” is a pretty good thing to aim for.

Given up on trying to compete in the realm of “e-sports” with games and genres that they’ll never be able to match? Given up on expansion locked features that are set to expire in two years time and be forgotten?

Sounds good to me!

When their main competitors have a feature, it seems like also having that feature would be a good way to get some players back.

Housing is a big draw away from World of Warcraft, honestly. It’s a huge thing in FF14, and it’s the exact reason I even picked the game up. WoW has the best end game, but their world feels like a complete failure. Housing would be such a nice change of pace, and I would love some kind of permanence between expansions.

I don’t know, depending on how the awful story plays out, maybe I finally choose to retire from raiding and pick a game that cares about its world content. Because Earthmother knows Blizzard cares only for their esports, or at least it feels like it, despite having some incredible zones.

Have you never played any other MMO ever?

Every time housing comes up…

Garrisons were not housing. They had elements of it, but it wasn’t housing. Did you notice we didn’t actually have any personal quarters in our garrisons?

Making professions relevant would fix professions. No houses needed.

Housing can make professions better, more customization options, and reasons to do older content hunting tables and chairs.

Even can make a new professions like woodworking.

blizz cant do that it’s too good for players

we need more store mounts and xmogs to milk these slaves!

ya that will win us back, a customizable place to idle because that’s all there is to do on retail, idling.

Professions would be pretty boring even if there were houses
