Hot Take to REVAMP the PvP minigame and E-Sports

*editing to say its cross-posted in General Discussion, so if you agree, go run that one up too please *

Blizz Devs,

If you want to revamp PvP minigames and E-Sports there is a SUPER SIMPLE solution.

Aside from having the regular game where MMO players can grind out their stuff, make separate servers completely dedicated to E-Sport content like your MDI and Arenas. Set up vendors with gear, allow max level characters on creation, and let people jump straight into the content that would be E-Sport level.

If you think about it, every other E-Sport gets people excited to play their game, and those same fans can jump straight into the competitive part of the game. There’s no reason this couldnt be done with this game. We’ve seen you take this game through MANY changes. Some of which appear to be farm more difficult to create than what I propose above.

Create like 2 servers a piece for Mythic Dungeons and Arenas. Max level characters on creation, whatever kind of currency you want them to use capped out, vendors and portals set up (portals for different dungeon locations), a revamped LFG system that has 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 5v5, and a 6v6 RBG on smaller ones like Warsong or Arathi.

I swear to you, yall would have absolutely no issue whatsoever getting those /played metrics. You would have people coming back out of the woodworks that you hadn’t seen in YEARS.

Subs would skyrocket if people could just jump into the part of the game they love. You guys have recognized that your audience is older now, and thus have responsibilities outside of the game. Some people still have time to play the MMO portion and enjoy it. Many others of us would rather just have something like an MDI realm and an Arena/BG realm.

If there was ever one thing that I really believe in my heart you could give players that would make them overjoyed it would be this. There can be rating systems for both similar to how arena has rating and mythic dungeons have raider io. You can create an elo system for both that way, and like OSRS you could poll the players and see what kind of content they would want in those realms…

I SWEAR this would be huge. This is your new multi-million dollar idea for absolutely free. This will get HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of subs back at minimum, if you advertise this correctly. This will COMPLETELY REVAMP your E-Sports and get excited hype around them. We know you’re perfectly capable of doing this because you already have these realms for the pro-players.

At this point, what do you have to lose? It’s worth a shot, and this shot could literally save this company.

Let me know what you think.

This was a thing for many years. I would love to see the tournament realms come back.

Everything I’ve seen on it was that it wasn’t available to everyone, and it was only for war-gaming. No one wants that. We want a server where we can just Arena in max gear, and Dungeon in max gear, All while having an elo/ranking system.

That seems pretty clear.

Sounds like you want a moba

It was for everyone, it cost like $15 and gave you access during the qualifiers. Everyone made teams and the top teams qualified for the next round of awc. Something like that.

AFAIK, it was only available to tournament players. I dont advocate for that. I just want a server where people who want to dungeon can log in and dungeon in max gear/conduits with an elo/rank like raider io. People who want to arena/bg can log in and arena/bg in max gear/conduits with an elo/rank like we have in the regular game.

The grind of the MMO is literally what is killing the mini-games. The mini-games will die off if no one wants to do the grind. That is in and of itself the main issue atm from what I can see from myself and other players.

Some people like the grind. Many don’t. Blizz isn’t going to lose the players who like the grind and will continue to get more subs from those kind of people. Then at the same time they’d get hundreds of thousands of subs from people who want the content I outlined above and it could potentially save their E-Sports scene and get a ton of hype around it.

what have they got to lose by trying it? Slap it on the PTR and adequately advertise it. If it gets a ton of traction then go bananas. If it doesn’t then just take it down like any other content that isn’t received well.

I want WoW arenas and dungeons without the insane grind that very few players who enjoy the mini-games like. Mini-game content should be readily available. If they just toss it on the PTR and advertise it I’d bet a dollar to a donut that it would be WIDELY popular. If it isn’t just toss it aside like they do other things that arent recieved well.

Call it what you want but if I could skip the grind for gear and play all the alts I wanted, yes.

Wow pvp could be a stand alone game and many many people would play it if you could skip the grind and just ….play

I don’t see how it could cost tons of money or even much dev time. It would probably require less work than regular servers once it’s up and going.

It sounds boring to you. I can appreciate that. Some people enjoy the grind.

Many of us don’t though which is why the 9.1.5 gearing system is still being picked apart. Players don’t want to deal with it all.

Thanks for your feedback!

Yes in a dwindling population my solution is split the population in half. Upvote pls

crazy to think how the vast majority of the complaints are the grind not being worth the time just to be able to do the content the complainers like.

Then a solution gets pushed forward to allow them to skip the grind and jump straight into the content the complainers like.

Then the people who like the way the game is, or at the very least are indifferent to it, such as yourself, come forward and try to make their voice everyone’s voice as if you speak for the community.

All I did was put up an idea, said I think a lot of players would like it, and said it would be awesome to throw up a poll for it to see how it’s received.

If you don’t like it thats fine. It’s not required of you. You can move along now, rather than being a smart-alic and acting as if your opinion is the only one on these forums that matters. I see you do that on a lot of posts. I won’t be responding to you from here on out.

Have a good day!

Literally anyone could play on it. Top 1000 teams got Vanquisher title too was dope.

wasn’t it locked behind a pay wall though?

My guess is it wasn’t advertised well enough then.

I’ve already had several misconceptions about it, of which all of them came from other players who told me how that realm was/operated. If this many people are clueless to how it operated, it stands to reason that Blizz didn’t do a good enough job explaining that realm. If they would just make that realm and actually attempt to show it to players they’d probably get a lot of people back so long as they didn’t stick it behind a paywall.

btw, that is absolutely sick af!

Once the pandemic crap is over hopefully Blizzcon will make a comeback and they can host the AWC again. Thats when AWC was at its peak popularity. The last two years AWC on youtube just does not bring much excitement imo.

This is what the tournament realms are kekw

No but fr, stuff like this doesn’t solve anything because the game still sucks. There’s no one interesting on caster decks relaying useful information for AWC to make it worthwhile to watch unless you’re supporting a team/player as a casual. Lack of knowledge transitioned from casters → viewers is boring.
On top of this, there’s nothing interesting happening outside of the games, and even then the games aren’t necessarily interesting lol. I’ve said this before, LCS has a preshow, post show, and stuff in between the different games to keep retention that make it worthwhile to watch even if it’s a bunch of cringe stuff.

Now would having servers that just let us do whatever we want be useful? Sure, but that doesn’t really solve anything regarding the rest of the game. You can’t tie in rewards like Challenger->Glad, R1, Elite sets, Vicious Mounts, etc… to a free realm, or else you are just saying the rest of the game is done and we’ve thrown in the towel.

Short story short, Esports has no interest because there’s no outsourcing to people who can make those events interesting (and they don’t care). And the realms only bring a band-aid effect to a broken bone.

Edit: Devs, if you actually read things like these, by all means contact me to give you ideas, you’ve listened to me before and it made PVP enjoyable, you just listened to everyone else and rebounded on those changes

Ur bad and downs

I don’t think you know what a ton of money is for blizzard, if anything it would make them money if you have to just pay for the server.

I think people just don’t want to que because they have to:

  1. Get honor
  2. Get Conquest
  3. Farm Arena rating
  4. Keep doing 1 and 2 until you are 2100 and have full 5/5 gear then you are able to compete as if you were on a tournament realm.

WoW is an MMORPG at the end of the day and it should expand upon that instead of destroying it.

Removing character progression like this would destroy the most essential and protected part of any MMORPG.
