as the title says, bgs, grand marshal, rank 14, none of it means anything except you are a hell of a grinder, and have friends.
the only real skill though is your ability to handle 1vsX in world pvp and arenas in later expansions. yes there is a skill in being good at av, but its more pve oriented.
but tell me one pvp movie that inspired you that showed a rank 14 grinding lieutenants in AV and rushing drek, none.
whoever the people were that said bgs ruined pvp, i now completely agree with you. i totally see it, random world encounters are more skill than any bg.
EDIT: this is coming from someone who ranked from the start of phase 2 and was rank 11 the first week it was possible. and quit after the premade av discord insanity with alexramy
Imo, the only competitive pvp is 3v3 and RBGs. Everything else is insanely more imbalanced than the other 2 brackets.
If it’s not ranked, it doesnt take that much skill. Ranked means facing people your skill level. World pvp and non rated bgs will never have that.
Too bad blizzard never cared for pvp for more than a couple of patches.
“Shut up pvp guy”
“If we keep talking about how to fix pvp we can just take it out”
Some other quotes that I cant remember. But yeah blizzard pvp is completely dead. You either haven’t played long enough to know this or have your monitor off.
If blizzard made a game like WoW and it was 3v3, I’d drop wow for that game in a heartbeat.
I still like both retail and classic, but arena always held a very special spot in my heart. It’s dead now, but not all good things last forever.
There’s no skill in ganking low levels, AFKs at the flight path, or simply ganging up on others. BGs actually have fair competition to some extent. Your complaint about the rank system is gone after classic. I’m looking forward to BC BGs because they won’t be 99% infested with premades like they are here.
bgs are literally a premade vs noobs and when that premade faces a superior premade they crumble like feta. as an ally player i see how my fellow ally players have no idea whats going on. fair chance my a**. more balanced is one skilled player in open world going against a few equal or lesser skilled.
and no im not talking about camping FPs, that is a horde exclusive trait
I think the saddest part about WoW pvp is that WoW is quite literally thee most successful and popular race war game. For such an emphasis on conflicts between two factions, they really did trivialize pvp from the start.
I used to hate it when people called pvp a mini side game, but after years of playing, it was just denial that made it frustrating. WoW pvp will never be, and has never been, competitive.
classic wow it absolutely is a side game and a joke. it is a time gated grind. all that matters is your premade has consumes and isnt totally oblivious to the game. rank 14 gear is nice but nowhere near worth when the game is about to end in 4-6 months p much lol. i appreciate far more some mage doing a 1v5 in felwood than seeing some r14 afk in stormwind. bgs are a joke lol
yep. you could see the life drain from the game as soon as bgs hit.
world pvp was a special thing. i knew it was as soon as bgs hit. i could separate myself from the competition cuz i was better at the game,
waking up id immediately go to felwood, spend 2 hours and get like 5-6k honor, then my team would log in and we’d go to SG and fight horde teams. it was truly spectacular. i see why people repeat the fresh because world PVP was the pinnacle. i perfected my 1v1s vs mages, ran from every spriest like a good warrior. it was a beautiful time where our server felt like a community
yeah, I’m just happy I got to experience it. I knew it was over the second I stepped into a 60 BG and everyone was AFK on one side due to the other side being premaded.
Went straight to twinking the second I had 3 games in a row like this, this was back in the first week of BGs. Twink brackets eventually got polluted too, but I’ve been hopping around them in the mean time.
Hot Take: the only pvp that matters is the pvp that you prefer. Objective based pvp (BGs), 1v1 duels, small scale deathmatch, whatever floats your boat.
agreed. i just think its cool that after all my years of wow i can pin point what killed real pvp, and thats instanced pvp. and i also wanted to reiterate that bgs are not a sign of skill.
Wd, its clear from what you type that you lack understand of pvp in this game in many areas. Its alright, you are entitled to your opinion I guess, even though it is lacking a lot of basics. Maybe do not start a post about it though?
You are just pointing out an illogical train of thought in your statements.
plz tell me where i lack experience? is it my multi glads from mop - wod - bfa? is it my rank 11 the first week possible? is it my 15 years of playing? help me
what im trying to convey is bgs killed classic pvp and tbc will fix alot of it with arena
OK, I’m like 90% sure that I know who you are. I just wanted to say, on Earthfury, the world PVP during phase 2 was amazing. This was bar none my favorite phase in Vanilla and I liked it even more in Classic. It’s one of those things that is only around for a few weeks and then it’s gone. I knew that going into phase 2 and I was out there as much as possible.
Camping flight paths weren’t horde specific though. We had a rogue and a mage sitting at the Camp Mojache FP all day long.
I boycotted BGs in Vanilla. I used to call it PVP in a box. I just kept world pvping the whole way through and didn’t rank past 9.
