Hot Take Re: Addons

Yeah, if they have awareness. Which I would argue a vast majority do not… But they do have addons to alert them of everything that is happening around them which totally remove awareness from the picture. Might as well just be playing a rhythm game instead of WoW PvP, same concept.

If that is what you like, good for you. I personally think the quality of the game was significantly higher in the past when addons weren’t as prevalent and player skill was actually an important factor.

It takes like a minute to go grab most of the pvp addons.

So you agree wow pvp has bad visuals?

I use 0 addons and beat the addon kids all the time lmao. Makes me happy knowing I DESTROY them with pure skill and awareness.

addon blowing an air horn vs flashy in game animation isn’t that big of a difference. if someone lacks awareness an addon isn’t going to help. addons can however allow players to change that alert to something that is best for them personally.

There is no way you don’t at least have BGE.

im thinking he’s more the gladius type

Don’t even know what that is.

What in game animations replicate the Mes weakuara that everyone uses?

every class has a scripted go that is obvious once you know what to look for, isn’t that the whole argument of the noaddons crowd?

BGE: BattlegroundEnemies.

Sort of like Gladius, but for BGs.

Yup. Don’t have that. I do have DR tracker, but that is just absolutely necessary. I don’t have addons that tell me every little thing going on tho. I just keep my eyes open and listen for sounds.

I have a lot of the modules turned off, as a healer, I don’t need to track the things it can.

I use it mostly for seeing who is being targeted by my team.

Tbh, addons are just annoying. They always break and aren’t always updated. And they clutter UI.

BS. If you play Blitz, you have it.

But I don’t. What would it even provide me with that I already don’t have?

One or the other. But he definitely has a targeting addon.

Asking someone to not use addons or macros (basically the same thing if you get into it) is like asking someone to use a 2 button surface mouse and generic keyboard vs …whatever mouse / keyboard combo you pros are cooking with.
inb4 oh it has rgbs it must be good…

Hardly.

Its easy to understand why people lash out when you say add ons are cheating. Its like taking somebodys life support away. They cant live without it. So of course the are going to freak out and say anything and everything they can to keep a hold of it. All you can do is shake your head in pity and move on with your day.

I wouldn’t call add-on’s life support. It’s just a welcomed addition in the eyes of the add-on enjoyer. A more accurate comparison would be like telling someone that enjoys a luxury automobile that all of the features that they like are now not there. They’re probably just going to get a different car(different game).

If they can’t get what they want from wow, maybe they’ll get it somewhere else. I could probably name five or six add-ons so desired that if they were removed, a lot of players would go also. Blizzard is welcome to do whatever they want, but they know that every action has a consequence for better or worse.
