Hot take: Race to world first (RWF) destroys the organic feel of MMORPG's

Yup I said, it. Bosses dying in 2 weeks DUE TO nerfs into the mythic raid instead of a gradual progression growth makes RFW and its related things a detriment for MMORPG’S as a whole.

Guys… I … think I might agree with Anon? Not sure what to do.

Hot take: if you don’t like something, then don’t watch it.

RWF has existed forever. Ignore it and just play the game. It really doesn’t matter.

quick find the nearest bridge!

on a serious note, I PERSONALLY don’t care for the world first races…feels like a bunch of sweaty people trying to feel special.

(there are plenty of players who are better then the world first raiders, but don’t cheese the system to get the highest item lvl while living off mountain dew and hot pockets for 2 weeks straight with no sleep)

all I care about doing is casually playing some mythic doing normal/heroic raids/pvp and getting the latest story bits

Well what are gonna do about it, chief?

tbh at this point we have no control over their decision. We can just watch the ship sink LOL which it is

I think so too. I pay no attention to it except when unavoidable information comes my way, which is usually hilarious on some level.

nah man just leave’em be lol
esp when the average guild wont even come close to this.

Can’t really stop people from playing the way they want, including breaking down the hardest stuff as fast as possible. Can’t stop them from streaming it either.

I think the real problem is them creating the experience AROUND the world first race. RWF will exist with or without them crafting the entire game around it. They just haven’t keyed into that fact yet. The top 1% gonna do what they do. It’s time they built the game around everyone in the middle again.

There’s a difference between that and Blizzard nerfing bosses to cater to that.

Only if you are obsessed about how other people play a game. Even then, no, it’s not.

But let’s be honest, it’s been this way since thotbot/youtube/wowhead. Every boss and strat to beat them has been mapped out, tested and documented LONG before the raids are even released.

You want gradual progression, you need a time machine and head back to the original EQ.

They aren’t nerfing the bosses to cater to them. You have this backwards. They over tuned them to cater to them and then bring them back to levels that people can actually do. If they left them as is and didn’t nerf them after the race was over then fewer than 500 people would even ever kill the whole raid on mythic. It’s far out of the reach of even the average skilled player.

Even cutting edge players aren’t technically doing the same fights that the racers do. The leaders of those guilds have said so many times. You’re doing a completely different raid. They are doing mythic++

The fact that it’s tuned this way at all to cater to the race is silly.

What you’re really railing against is PTR and datamining.

It’s not about how people play the game. If you read what I said, it wouldn’t matter. People would try to do things as fast as possible. It has nothing to do with that. The fact that the company nerfs bosses to cater to that mentality IS an issue.

Example
Mythic Rygelon had 89 mil health yesterday.

Not its 79. thats a huge 10 mil health nerf. to what? cater to world first? To people without 2 legendaries ?

They are nerfing the bosses to cater to them. If that wasn’t the case, the bosses wouldnt have nerfed 2 weeks in, but instead a month or 2 in.

Nope- they over tuned it to cater to the race. Classic is the best example of this. They didn’t do this before, and the fights are comparably a joke to how tightly and insane they tune them now.

They nerf them two weeks in when the race is over because they know anyone outside of the top 10 guilds will never ever see those kills tuned that way. They need to stop catering to these players and spending so much time on this nonsense and just tune it better from go rather than tuning it for RWF then for everyone else after. So much wasted dev time for such a small segment. A fraction within a fraction.

False

The race is not over. They are nerfing and hotfixing healths and damages to cater to these world firsts events.

Rygelon health nerf from last night to now is one of them

another example is mythic anduin star damage is zero on 3rd phase which nerfs the whole fight by 1/3 of its intended difficulty.

Better to tune it out of reach and pull it back. You can’t take away a kill once it happens. You can, however, tune it near impossible and pull it back piece at a time until it is barely possible but within the margin. This eats up dev time though. Rather than tuning it reasonably for 10%~ of players they tune it for 0.0001% of players, and even they struggle.

Can’t believe I agree with Anon.
