We should be allowed to pick from 3 keys at the end of each mythic+ run we complete. I’m sick of getting plaguefall, into theater, into plaguefall, then back into theater…and other similar combinations. The total randomization of key upgrades makes some weeks miserable imo. Agree or disagree? O.o
agreed
it would certainly make it a lot more fun, especially with arranged teams…
randomized keys doesn’t feel good at all, especially when it’s a key you don’t need
Absolutely. It’s such a gamble, like everything in this expansion. This process of trying to get a key you need is like watching mobile game ads so you can get back into the game.
Hot Take:
remove keys
I think keys are one of the few things that are keeping people playing any more, and even keys are getting sparse.
I’d just like to be able to go to the dungeon I want and set the level to what I want.
There have been some pretty compelling reasons that random keystones are important to the game. It’s very easy to see how nice it would be to pick your key and level, but much harder to see why it’s bad.
The first, oldest complaint, is that players will target the easy dungeons. That doesn’t sound bad, but would probably result in 200 NW keys in LFG and 2 DoS keys. If you thought you had difficulty getting into groups before, you’re will have 10, 20, 100 times as many players to compete with for a spot. With the list sorted by IO, new or slower-rising players will be so far down the list they’ll never get picked. By the time the top IO applicants have been plucked for keys they’ll be replaced by new high-IO players, permanently relegating players to the bottom of the list.
Add in the fact that most players will cluster at 15s and the bottom end will disappear. I doubt we’d see anything much in the 10-14 range, which is where a lot players will learn what really matters. Going too high too fast often results in mechanical whiplash, or things happening too fast or aggressively for players to learn anything useful.
Scuffed 14s are important for players moving up the ranks and the competition for spots is much lower. Those would be gone.
There are even more, probably better reasons, but I’ve rambled enough.
Its very annoying because it requires almost 45m-1hr to setup a group and run a key to fish for something you want and its especially worse when your entire group has the same exact key… I like this solution but I would go a step further and just allow the group leader to start a dungeon run for anything +1 of what they have timed
diablo rift style? I see m+ eventually reaching that type of system someday.
Something I’d like would be that you could select any difficulty key up to a max of what you have timed that week.
The +1 key is the primary goal of mythic+, not so much the end-dungeon loot, especially after the initial portion of the season. So the emphasis on timing successfully would still be the main goal, but you wouldn’t have to worry about key depreciation as much…which would also probably lower the tryhard-toxic environment for the lfg community.
