Hot take: Old talent system was better

I liked the old talent system because it was simple, just pick a talent on a row and you’re done. But now it’s, what talents do I have to pick to get to this one and do I need to sacrifice this or that; it’s just annoying also I have re-take talents to change 1, it’s just so much clicking.

Also it didn’t change meta talent picking at all and for me with this new system I only take meta because I don’t want to bother with the talent tree.

B-but borrowed power! Borrowed power has nothing to do with a talent system.

That’s just my opinion, and to all of you that likes the current talent system why is this better than the old system?

My only problem is that I cannot figure out how to turn on some talents at the ends of the trees. I’ll sit there clicking for 20 minutes and I’m unable to get them to light up. Then I’ll go look up a build and copy it. For the first month or so I actually thought they were unavailable until we got more points later in the expac or something.

Old as in BFA talents?

It so easy now…
Dude, just find a top players build and copy paste it.
Why stress? Let someone else do the work to get top damage

putting abilities onto the talent tree is the major issue. Having one or two specials is fine, but they have everything now. You can see how classes with less abilities on their tree are generally fairing much better because of this.

Yes as in bfa, sl, I assume legion had that as well.

I’ve always hated choosing talents.

I’m one of those players that just copies and pastes from Wowhead or w/e.

I used to pick my own talents but now I just copy.

You could do that with the old system.

I liked the old one a bit more, sure this lets me spec into EXACTLY what I want, but I need to make hard sacrifices to make that happen. I am sure thats the point and I am not saying its a bad system or people are bad for liking it, to me its a bit too much and complex, yet restrictive at once. I gave it an honest shot, I like the previous one more. And, whenever they do a patch or a nerf like they just did I DREAD it, cause I have to reexamine my tree if my class was heavily changed. I can only imagine how some classe feel.

This is my opinion, and I doubt Blizzard is gonna go back on something just cause some don’t care for it, lord knows they haven’t when MOST don’t about some things. If you like this, I am glad. I have learned to live with and manage it, not enjoy it.

Not really buddy, the talent system that began with pandaria and ended in shadowlands was much much less fun to tinker with, really barely any choices and you couldnt do niche builds

The only thing I don’t like about the new system (and it’s not even that big a deal) is that it isn’t a tree at all. It’s more like a vast web. No matter what path you take, it’s designed to lead you to certain talents.

What I’d prefer is a true multi-branching tree, that allows people to deep dive and tailor their skillset to work for them, without wasted points. But, what we have works (mostly).

Then you should have asked them to change the talents not change the whole thing.

lol

Yeah, I still remember it vividly. When the new talents came out, everyone’s like omgyeaaaa now I can customize everything. Well… here’s the kinda things that happen when players customize their talents. And no one reminds or inspects them because we’re all too chill to lol

Go to freaking AA and the paladin doesn’t dispel the tank’s poison. Dude’s like spamming in party, doispell, dispell, disessspel, dissepels… while running in circles and holding aggro.

Paladin after the wipe : I didn’t take dispel.

Tank : …

(Paladin exits)

LMAO

I mean, it was obvious from the get-go. The only way to shoot down meta talents is by just removing or disabling the ability of players to be able to sim what talent dishes out the most raw damage. And even if they somehow did that, people would simply go to the streams of the top tier SSS Ranked rogues or DH’s and ask them, pester them to show THEIR talents even if it doesn’t work for them. Copy those meta builds and come up to a conclusion on what works best. Its impossible to remove meta anymore and really, all they did was make things more complicated for the simpler minds/those who play less or have little time to invest in doing talents than playing the game.

I like the system mostly, but it can get stuck in a position that looks for all purposes like you should be able to click the next talent in the branch and you can’t until you go somewhere on some distant branch and turn something else off.
