I think its safe to say, people will sour very quickly on Karazhan Crypts. The dungeon is great, but there is a fundamental lack of improvement due to the convoluted sanctified system.
This new “hard” dungeon is quickly becoming irrelevant for Naxx raiders, which means that groups are becoming heavily dominated by people’s fresher characters or alts. The average pug experience will degrade due to this, especially when the content is simply not fun to run on your main.
Why would I continue to run a hard dungeon, that I’m not getting any stronger in?
There is a good opportunity for blizzard to allow sanctified scaling in Kara, AND maybe for Naxx to provide some improvements in vision for Kara Crypts. Making Kara as hard today, as it is in 2 months is just a terrible feeling. Progression and power scaling are integral to RPGs…allow our characters to actually get stronger, or no mains will run your old content…and it will die because its all underprepared people or alts.

Stop dumbing this game down for pugs holy hell.
thats the problem with retail. if you want a game thats for pugs, just introduce LFR ( arguibly naxx is that ) and LFG and just get over with it. Go full retail garbage
Gear should make you get stronger in all content. This is a basic pillar of classic and exactly why retail sucks to play. Nothing is noticeably stronger or weaker than anything else…so there is never a feeling of “I’m getting better at this”.
Sod is Retail garbage anyway, i don’t think you have a leg to stand on

Because its not a catch up dungeon. Undergeared peeps or alts have no business in there.

So…when Kara is harder than Naxx with T3 because Sanctified doesn’t work in it?
Like, look at the T2.5 healing vs T3 healing vs OG T3 set for Holy paladin.
I’m wondering how much T3 for any spec will reduce the difficulty of KC vs Naxx HM. I doubt it’ll be much, so players are going to irritated that “being BiS” isn’t paying out for any place outside of Naxx.
They could add in a quest for defeating KT via an ‘quest start item’ that only drops on KT Hardmode. Turning the quest in, grants a necklace that has on ‘on equip’ to allow Sanctified to work in KC.
Why would you want to run KC after you got all you needed for Naxx? and why can’t you wear t2/t2.5? the gear that got you there?
It is sad you can’t feel OP with t3. But maybe they are saving that for the next raid. lol
Sanctified gear should 100% work in a dungeon where sanctified gear drops. Make it make sense devs.

Honestly this is why hard modes should have never been put in at all. Naxx became a borrowed power raid where the gear only works in that raid and nowhere else. Makes me wonder if AQ/BWL gear is gonna be bis for the Scarlet Crusade raid and thats why they don’t wanna put it on the real vendors.

I’m glad you brought that up.
And this is exactly the problem. PuGs on WG are already stating you need 8/8 Sanc gear to join them. At best you can get 5/8 with the Invasion gear and it’s Set Bonus. You have to run KC to get the remaining 3 pieces to get the full (8/8) Sanc effect.
If KC remains difficult to run even for Naxx BiS players. They won’t run it. Reels won’t be enough, when they can already get around 64 per day from “roflstomp” dungeons.
…KC will be entirely skipped.
Which means alts and anyone ‘late to the party’ will likely never step foot into Naxx. …Even in full Scarlet BiS, the Sanc gear will likely way out-perform.
((I’m also assuming Sanc gear works in normal Naxx. So even the slow grind won’t be available.))
Normal can be cleared with t2 gear. The problem is people want to go into Naxx in greens. I’ve seen people starting to use gear score. LOL
I have also seen lots of pugs looking for normal naxx and the only requirements being in t2/t2.5. Nothing wrong with that.
no, i think gear should come from all over the world and have a diversity of power…
This type of system just cannibalizes its player base. This is why this sort of gearing has been shied away from even in retail.
You should ALWAYS get stronger with new gear from a new raid. It is crazy to think that my bis for Kara might still be mostly t2 and some AQ pieces by the end of the phase. I simply will not run the instance, it is too annoying.

It is funny that sims are telling people to use off peaces for that sactified bonus. lol

The dungeon only has so many items in it. Raiders stop running it because either a) they got their items, or b) they got better ones in Naxx.
If the Sanctified multiplied your damage in Kara, what would that do? The people with Naxx gear don’t need to run Kara anyway. All it would do is give them 400% extra damage and health, massively trivializing the entire experience, when it’s already trivial for them.
Also, Naxx gear has better damage stats, than other gear, and in particular the set bonuses specifically do more versus undead. Which Kara is full of. So… it DOES make you stronger in there.
Mains don’t run old content. That’s how old content works. They put reals on it to try to incentivize it, so it doesn’t die, but that’s it. Why run something that has absolutely zero rewards?

I think there is a severe misconception that we all stop running content when we don’t need stuff.
I personally will continue to run old content for 2 reasons, 1) If I find it fun to run and 2) To help farm gear for friends’ mains or alts.
If you create a system where Naxx geared mains are indistinguishably stronger than an AQ gear main, then Kara’s difficulty will hit a wall. This will mean that people will not be able to “power their less geared friends through”. I find being able to do old content, quickly, to be an incredibly fun mechanic personally.
Naxx gear could increase the radius of the torch perhaps…or even just apply some very miniscule damage buffs through the seal of dawn item. Just something to make the content actually get easier…as you get more gear.
There is also going to be less and less prepared people going into Kara Crypts, which will lead to less and less successful groups…this will be exacerbated if the content is not even fun to run on your giga-geared mains.
I equate this to TBC Heroics, which were an absolute pain in the butt in p1 TBC. Then, as you acquired SSC/TK or BT gear, they became much more manageable and actually a ton of fun to farm.

You are making a lot of assumptions, some well founded, but there is no way to actually know if you are correct unless they let this system play out and see what happens. Seasonal content is obviously about experimentation. We are merely lab rats.
With how you’re replying in these forums, it seems SoD isn’t for you. You seem to be a “hardcore” player. Classic Hardcore is waiting for you.
I have no problem with seal working up to rank 2. Random Pugs struggle in this place, and I have already run it more than 20 times in guild at its intended difficulty. A 32% nerf isn’t the end of the world.
Also why does Dark Rider not drop his horse?
It could introduce a lot of interesting dynamics in itemization and play style, but possibly at the cost of predictability and balance.
