Horrific visions and now torghast, it seems like their trying to do some kind of survival horror mode. I like survival horrors but I don’t think WoW could ever be scary. They should give up now.
Pretty sure they’re not going for survival horror. I think it’s just meant to be the atmosphere of those areas.
One is the old gods that have always been very Lovecraftian, and the other is the literal realm of the dead.
Horror?
Being in the dmv. Now serving 2 and your number is 84.
Wow and horror doesn’t mesh because of the graphics style I think.
Horror does work well in WoW. Everyone is deathly afraid of getting nerfed on patch day.
Old Gods are sci-fi horror so I’d say it does work at least to some degree. Some must not remember Yogg-Saron too well. That guy was terrifying.
I don’t know, man. Based on the threads I’m seeing, lots of people are scared of zombies ruining their day.
What do you mean, from the look of these forums, tons of people are scared to even be IN the game right now because of zombie attacks.
Thaddius was pretty dark.
Built from the corpses of mulched up women and children who scream in pain throughout the fight.

Yawn. 10 chars.
Have you seen the old abomination models? They used to be terrifying as far as cartoons go.
It’s these new models that aren’t scary.
There’s an argument to be made that less graphical fidelity makes things more frightening by leaving more to your imagination.
Fallout ran into the exact same problem
Great voice acting also helps a boss come to life.
I’d love for parts of the game to be scarier. Let’s face it, “skeleton” type enemies aren’t scary anymore, they’re more hilarious then anything.
And you don’t need spooky graphics to make things disturbing. Just the atmosphere can add to the horror of a place. Like:
Literally unkillable enemies you have to avoid, not fight.
Finding smaller-then-normal zombies in a building and then realizing it’s a former school house.
Books and notes around hinting of something WRONG with an area.
Some of the most scary situations have happened in happy cheerful games. Heck, just look at Lavender Town in pokemon. If Pokemon could pull it off, so could WoW.
Beetlejuice ending! Except a lot higher than 84
It’s not the eternal state. Just a long wait.
There are various kinds of horror that don’t have a “survival” aspect.
This game isn’t a horror game and the two examples you used aren’t survival horror
I don’t know, nothing is more scary then being in tol dagor and hearing that last boss start RPing while you are on the floor below stuck in combat
