Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for the new patch and I’m not wanting to complain but…
First things first… I did the first 3 horrific Visions and they were great I enjoyed them. I wanted to see if I could do more within the visions and it turns out I could so I cleared one area to the side and now I’m halfway through the middle of another one on the other side. In the middle of that one I die… rip and I get sent back to the chest opening room for rewards. At this point, since I’m on my last Horrific Vision for the week and with a rank 3 cloak currently IN the horrific Vision, I would just need to kill Thrall in order to get the quest item that’s needed to upgrade my cloak to rank 4. But I didn’t cause you know… I died.
I know this is a lot but what I’m getting to is if going off to other areas Jeopardizes your progress towards the cloak which is a super super important piece this patch, It’s not worth it. Especially since you really only need to kill thrall to get the quest item necessary in order to upgrade the cloak up until rank 14 I believe? Anyway, I think it’s dumb how even if you cleared a completely different area, the quest item to upgrade the cloak wont be in that chest, instead it’s only going to be in thralls.
Moral of the story; I died clearing a area off to the side after finishing a different area on the opposite side and now I’m basically a week behind because I’m not able to upgrade my cloak to rank 4 because I didn’t kill thrall for his chest.
I feel like I made this confusing but I’m sure you guys will understand. dies inside : )
After a certain rank, going straight to the boss doesn’t give you much - and wrathion tasks you with objectives instead that dive deeper which award more.
I don’t wanna keep quoting the thing so if you wanna have a quick read check the link. They made an addition plus things that won’t make you feel ‘‘behind’’ permanently.
Heh okay did the org vision solo for a quest and I goofed on the thrall fight. I think if I didn’t mess up on his aoe switching I probs would have gotten him.

Stepped into the patch 8.3 like many others. The introduction of questline was slightly entertaining. In the end, I earned a few upgrades to gear including the legendary cloak as I prepared myself to enter the first Horrific Vision to fight Thrall.
The character I was playing is an Item Level 415 Destruction Lock. I had some concerns with the fight before going into it as the Voidwalker often has trouble holding aggro. I clear the adds somewhat easily even with VW losing aggro. I faced off against Thrall and of course, VW was unable to keep boss taunted resulting me into having to move and stopping casting. And I died. Which at this time discovered that Soul Stone does not work. But it was close. I stepped out retrieved some drums, food, and augment and went to work on Thrall this time barely beating him. After drums cooldown, I went back in and tried again. Nonetheless, I and my worthless VW died.
I assume there is going to be a learning curve. However, since this was such a critical time to level the cloak and I only earned one upgrade the Lock is now a week or more behind those that were able to kill the boss all four time.
I am curious if other Warlock or cast had this problem? I know a hunter pet holds aggro so I doubt there was an issue there.
I do wish you could keep going after you completed the objective.
In the Lesser Vision, it’s our choice when to leave (or until we get kicked out), even if we’ve already completed the quest objective.
It would be nice in the regular Vision to be able to knock off the objective, and then spend time exploring or farming extra trash mobs. I dislike how I have to guesstimate and finish my exploring and farming first, because the moment I complete the objective, I get booted out no matter how much sanity I have left.
It’s kind of sad , not from the player’s attitude but from the effect it has that you still feel ‘‘behind’’ in someway… instead of designing content that challenges you but makes you want to explore more.
Makes me wonder when I try it out later today, I’m not sure how committed I’ll be.
Was super close for me on the initial with my aff lock, I actually died five seconds before the boss did, but my blueberry was still up and my dots kept ticking and killed him. I’ve read similar accounts by others with multiple classes who aren’t heavily geared. I saw an estimate that the stuff is tuned for about 425 ilevel, which feels about right. Once you get the sanity orbs it helps a lot, that first run without them is just brutally punishing if you’re undergeared.
This content is straight trash… nothing of value, just cheap garbage mechanics in an otherwise garbage expansion. Overly punishing and completely lacking in “fun” is everything this patch represents.
my own opinion Blizzard should have named it Horrible visions, so far i’ll just use the time to level my alts do daily’s etc in the vale and uldum to obtain the cloak but thats it. personally I think they sat around and said “hey how can we really screw with players?, hey i know lets create horrific visions”
After a few times, doing the cloak stuff on alts gets to a point where I asked, ‘‘what am I doing this for’’… it’s not how they can screw the players over… they just had minimal bits of content with a patch being scrapped so they designed a cyclical bit of content used as a crutch.
Kind of a love-hate amongst players.
I find dailies, assaults boring… horrific visions were nice.
Don’t see it helpful past a few times since I didn’t raid so it lost any meaning to rinse and repeat it.
