I am curious what others think of this. We ran a 4 mask horrific vision to help a friend out today. On the second to last boss he died, we chose not to rez him so that we could keep a higher level of sanity going into the final boss. We come to find out that he could not open the final chest. I assume this is because he did not “hit” the final boss. From my understanding this is working as intended. What are your guys thoughts on this? I feel this is bad game design and punishes people for making a strategic decision. No where does it say you will not get loot if you do not hit the boss in a vision. It would not be so bad if these were not limited runs per week. Let me know your thoughts. Apologies if this post is in the wrong spot, first time posting.
If he did get credit in that case, it would be very easy to carry people with little gear and level 1 cloaks through a high level vision by letting them die at the beginning. While I personally haven’t thought about that enough to have an opinion as to whether that would be a good thing or a bad thing, I would imagine that’s what the game design is meant to prevent.
He needed to be alive for the kill. If a person is not alive, it does not count. I believe it’s like this to make it harder for people to do carries and get all of the rewards from a vision. I’d argue that the strategic decision is when to rez someone so they’re alive for the kill. Allowing them to stay dead isn’t a strategy, it’s the opposite IMO.
I agree and disagree. To rez someone takes half your sanity. With this mechanic I basically do not have a choice between rezing someone and not. I basically have to rez the person where in this case that means we all would have failed the vision. So it was strategic in this case because we needed our sanity to be able to live through the final boss
In what world is it bad game design that a player with a level 1 cloak in a 4 mask that reduces your sanity can’t just tag along with no consequences? Not only that it has always been a thing in the game that you must tag or receive damage to be eligible for loot, it’s like this in dungeons, raids and open world bosses.
Just have them die in the bosses room and revive them when you’re done, they don’t need to tag the mini bosses in the wings. You should have a spare orb or two to use on him, dropping one on top of his corpse will revive him. You don’t even need to worry about being low sanity as you get a free 500 sanity with your cheat death.
But the thing is… you were carrying someone. This would not be the case if that person was at a level where a 4-mask would be appropriate for their cloak level. If they did have the appropriate cloak level, they would have had an equivalent sanity level.
You also have to consider that you can rez while in combat. I carried someone the other day where I rezzed them with around 100 sanity left and I clicked their body pretty much as the boss died so they’d get credit. The strategy is knowing when to appropriately rez someone so they get credit.
