It’s been a while since I’ve done the Halloween event, but why is the Wickerman moved back inside of the city? Some years ago, the question was raised as it is every year and Blizzard actually finally answered.
“Why is the Horde’s Wickerman inside the city when The Alliance’s is outside? Because… we don’t know to be honest.” And they moved the Horde’s outside of the city.
Why’s it back in? I mean… obviously someone has to know the answer since it was physically moved back, right? I’ve just honestly been curious.
I’d say Horde favoritism, but that just seems too easy. I’m sure it’s something far far more vague and abstract like:
“Well, it was the time shift that loads Leorderon back to its former glory which uses very old game files from when the Wickerman was still inside the city and no one thought to check it and frankly, it would cost us a raid tier to move it back outside.”
See that seems far more likely.
For the record- I got in and out without dying. I’ve had years of practice with their Wickerman.

AFAIK, it’s been inside UC since they first moved it in. Was it in Wrath or Cat? I can’t remember.
As to why, IDK. It was TOO far before, so they decided too close was the solution? Sounds like Blizz logic to me.
: )
edit: I might have memory problems, but I seem to remember the event being WAY down at the SW corner of the rise of UC. Way too far away.

Well, tbf, lordaeron isn’t in the undead city (gamewise).

It’s still outside the city, just as yours is.
The city itself is underground.

For a single year it was outside the city gates which meant you could extinguish the flames without getting flagged for PvP- which matched the Alliance one- which can also be extinguished without being flagged or attacked by guards. For that one year, we had equality.

It’s not. Inside the ruins is still inside the city. You get flagged. There are 120 elite guards around with the ability to yank you down with a chain— which is hilarious when that happens on a level 62.
You aren’t flagged for the Stormwind one.

tbf you get flagged for tossing the flask not being in the city entrance area

I get flagged when I go to the Stormwind one.
And if I dont get flagged or shot by a passing Gryphon Guard, then I get flagged when I set it on fire and jumped by like 400 Alliance.
The actual Undercity is, yes, UNDER the old city of Lordaeron.
I made a thread two days ago about this. The Wickerman sits fairly close to a doorway that leads out into the “dead” city which you “could” sneak up to as long as you are 120…anything below that pretty much skids the whole thing into a **** show. Timing is helpful but more than likely you’re doing an end run and expect the horde players hanging out there to start cheering and clapping.

You used to get flagged just for entering the courtyard. Now you have to toss the flask before the flag comes up.
How hard this is to complete mostly depends on the server and who’s in the courtyard when you try it. On most of my servers, no one bothers the alliance who toss a flask–as long as the alliance don’t bother anyone else. Many folks jump into the moat and go into the tunnels down there, then hearth. The ones that try to run out through the courtyard are more likely to get killed.

You get flagged for the Horde one before you even get there.
Then you’re doing it wrong. lol You should never get flagged before you douse it or hit by a gryphon. I never do.
Well that’s not true. I’m flagged upon entering the courtyard every time I do this on my level 60ish Druid.
It wasn’t moved last year, they just changed the definition of what “inside the city” meant.
no you dont i see people unflagged land behind the wickerman’s feet or on the wickerman unflagged but get flagged as soon as they use the flask, chances that you could maybe get flagged if you aggro a guardian though

I saw, just today, an Alliance sitting in the Courtyard unflagged on their silly little broom.
I know they were unflagged, because I was very much intending on blowing them up and unsure why I couldnt do so.
They were not high up in the air either. They were just high enough where I couldnt reach them with melee by jumping.

When they added quests around it they needed to move it cause Alliance would gank the quest givers and vendors.
when they made the move of it back in cataclysm, this was well before realms coalesced, and it had some pvp fun for those who couldn’t do tol barad battles.
nowadays you are at the mercy of the sharding/coalescing algorithm. i haven’t bothered with the daily since 2012
