Have a buddy who’s going shaman (orc) so we will level together. Torn on going orc with him or undead. I know undead’s racial may be better for PvP. Is one race significantly better, or will orc be a safer bet for a PvE/PvP mix
They both have pluses and minuses. Stun resist is nice in pve/pvp. For leveling, cannablize can really help with downtime.

yeah I’m thinking that stun resist may trump it for the sole purpose of having a pocket healer to level with early on

Orc stun resist can get you killed in raids. It’s not always beneficial to be the only person not stunned in a 40 man raid. You get greeted by a face smack.
Tauren and Troll are the best tanks. Troll has the best threat, Tauren has the best HP, and then you have undead which can break fears when needed.
In terms of dps, Orc is the best. That is due to Bloodfury and Axe spec.
see I was actually contemplating troll but all the sites recommend the other 3 races above it. I mained a troll for years!
Troll has Berserking which is great for burst threat and rage gen, and they also regen health in combat which gives them threat.

I just didn’t know if the regen was enough to notice come lvl 60
Its threat, and it’s not really noticeable on the screen but its a huge help.
If you want to tank, I would recommend troll. Tauren will always take the main tank position just due to the health increase. Troll is good at hanging just behind them.
If you want to PVP as well as PVE orc and undead are great. It’s really just coming down to whatever you enjoy. You can also consider orc off tank with a nightfall. While you dont have threat you are keeping up nightfall, and that axe spec helps.
There is no comparison between a UD and orc warrior, orc is by far superior in every aspect.

You are going to get a lot of opinions on this. Here’s mine.
Orc is the best all around Warrior race on Horde. However, there are a few caveats to this. The stun resist often doesn’t work in PVE because they are event stuns and can’t be resisted. There aren’t that many BiS 1H Axes and the ones that are there are highly competed for. Bloodfury has a -50% healing reduction debuff associated with it which combined with Death Wish is potentially deadly to yourself.
My top picks are Tauren and Undead.
Tauren have 5% more HP than all 7 other Warrior races in WoW. Put them all in the same gear with the same buffs and a Tauren Warrior has exactly 5% more HP. Warstomp is clutch, you will save yourself and your party often if you use it for what it is good at.
Undead have Will of the Forsaken which which situationally will get you out of things, especially PVE events that a non-Undead Warrior cannot. Remember that PVP trinkets in Vanilla/Classic are class specific and only remove three effects (Stuns, Roots and Snares).
Ultimately though, I think you should play what is going to make you happy. There is no bad Warrior race in the game. There have been Nelf, Undead and Dwarf Warriors in the top tier of parses before and we’ll see it again. The player matters more.

If you are going both PvE and PvP, Orc is the better option. Bloodfury makes you nasty and the stun resist is great. You also have the axe specialization.
Yeah I guess I just need to decide if I wanna level early on solo (undead) or go Orc to have a guaranteed buddy

Don’t Tauren have increased melee range? That seems really good. Also Warstomp.
yeah they have a bigger hit box, warstomp is extremely nice though
In a similar spot. I’m mostly going to play Fury DPS in raids, but want to tank 5man content in my offtime, and probably won’t do much PvPing because of respec costs.
I’m leaning Orc for the aesthetics and dps racials, but the Troll racials are so good for tanking that I’m having doubts!
Probably not a popular opinion on here, but the only racial abilities I ever remember actually turning fights are War Stomp, WotF, and Shadowmeld.
The others add some nice flavor, but they just don’t feel game-changing to me.
It’s not like we’re playing Baldur’s Gate with THAC0 ruleset here, lol.

My vote is ORC. The resistance to stun, coupled with the extra axe damage and blood fury offer more overall for the warrior than the fear break of the undead.
UD Racials are wasted on Warriors since breaking a second fear won’t make it worth what you give up. Especially if you have a tremor totem buddy. And unlike Warlocks or Mages who can stop DPS to self-heal a little off a dead Human/Undead mob, a Tank doesn’t have that luxury.
Tauren is a much stronger choice with their higher hp value (It matters in PvE) and their AoE stomp is fantastic for PvE and PvP. Really they are the best warriors in the game for PvE.
Orc is good for PvP Warrior, but their Weapon Racials aren’t that great for PvE since the best PvE weapons are Swords and Maces (I think AQ40 has DW Axes for BiS until Naxx though but that’s too far down the line). Unless you get to R14 with your Warrior for the 2H Axe once Honor levels are released but have fun with that. Really though Orc Warriors will be the DPS because Tauren Warrior is just too good to not be the tank.
-Undead: Weakest choice. Good for tanking raids vs bosses that fear… not much else. Warrior already hard counters fear. Stuns a much bigger problem for warrior, so I’m not sure why you’d want this over orc.
-Orc: Best choice for BGs. Hammer of justice is the bane of your existence. You can also be stunned for up to 10s by rogues, 3s from enemy intercepts, etc. In raiding, orc continues to be solid thanks to axe skill, although it restricts you to axes.
-Tauren: Good general choice. Most popular for tanks due to health bonus, but not bad to have anywhere. Stun is an extra interrupt or tool vs packs of mobs.
-Troll: If you don’t want to dedicate your life to axes in raids, troll with edgemasters is the alternative. By dropping 1kg and your glove slot, you keep your weapon options flexible. Berserking can also be freely used anytime, unlike blood fury.
Differences are negligible
