Horde: Turn off war mode There is no + side

The first month of WM was the only time the odds were really bad as Alliance. Once Uldir, M+, and the PVP season got going, running around the world was much easier. Basically, since people had stuff to do besides camp WQ’s, they did it. I take issue with the people that cried about “horde mode” for 4 months and have now showed up to collect the freebies.

Damnnn, can a brotha not even get a link anymore?

The salt is the best Christmas gift I’ve ever gottenâ€ïžđŸ§‚

Even during that first month it was wasn’t bad.

Dude says it was virtually balanced for pop, it was sharding all along (and still the issue today)

Right? It’s not possible for a rogue to get camped unless tour absolute trash.

@Brujanna Alliance players keep posting this like it justifies poor balancing and that Horde players only play Horde. I play an ally hunter too.

Rather then solving the problem by removing bonuses they catered to this victim mentality and jacked them up for another faction. People that wouldn’t play on PvP servers are now doing Warmode because they want the bonus only.

They’ve pruned the game to the point its nearly impossible to 2v1 or escape as most classes. This isn’t an “alliance experience” its poor game design that is incentivized through making players feel like its mandatory.

Its even worse they are encouraging people with more rewards by offering alliance players 370 gear. There isn’t any getting even in this scenario, and people trying to justify it as pvp are kidding themselves. A big zerg group doing 20v1 is not pvp esp. when you’re just camping a WQ to get kills for a piece of gear and then you can turn warmode off again.

When it was a PvP server* we had to solve PvP issue with PvP. Now people can just turn it off no one is forced to which just leads to giant disruptive groups with zero opposition protected by sharding.

Thanks for the video.

Ion doesn’t say anything about a month, though. He says “initially” the war mode participation ratios were “pretty good”, but he doesn’t say how long that lasted. And by “pretty good” he probably means Alliance were just as likely to turn on war mode as Horde, meaning Alliance were outnumbered by the same amount in war mode as in overall population, that is, by about 20%. That does put the lie to the idea that Horde are more inclined to PVP, though.

Ion does say that the imbalance got much worse due to a the initial imbalance apparently being magnified by sharding issues resulting in Alliance turning off war mode in a “snowballing” effect. So he’s absolutely confirming that the imbalance got bad. He also doesn’t claim that the sharding fixes fixed that problem; apparently Blizzard’s position is that the imbalance had already gotten so bad by the end of the first month that their sharding fixes were ineffective. Me, I think the sharding fixes were ineffective because the problem wasn’t a sharding problem in the first place.

Contrary to the claim of the person you are responding to, Ion confirms that the faction imbalance in war mode remained severe until 8.1, when he credits incursions for bringing Alliance back into war mode. Of course, with 8.1 incursions came the 30% minority faction bonus and the Against Overwhelming Odds quest, so the effects of those can’t be cleanly separated.

Ion’s interview linked above confirms that the imbalance remained bad until 8.1 and incursions.

The only thing that got better for Alliance in war mode in 8.0 was that the Horde got so used to having war mode shards all to themselves that they forgot how to PVP, and largely quit attacking Alliance when an Alliance character would actually turn war mode on. If Alliance could arrange battles that weren’t worse than 1v2 during this period, we could win; however, it was still hard to arrange battles that were only 1v2 instead of 1v3 or 1v5 or 1v10.

This is exactly why I created a rogue to kill horde. I had over 5k HKs in a month. Way too easy. Demon Hunters near other players are the biggest thing to avoid. Other than that, pick your fights which a rogue is one of the few classes that can.

@Lendrelan, you must of started playing last expansion. It goes back further then legion. The human racial use to be used without sharing a cool down with pvp trinket. Meaning they would be able to get out of any type of CC twice as often. Everyone transferred to alliance back then. Racials have always been one of the biggest problems with wow. They should just get rid of them all together.

Nice job necroing a post
 As for this:

Yep, because removing even more from the game is the way to go right? We already lost alot of flavor from this game, it’s an MMORPG for a reason. Stop trying to remove more from it.

I play horde and alliance about evenly and I mostly leave it off on both factions now. It is always off while leveling characters, and while on Kul Tiras and Zandalar it is always off because of the imbalanced sharding system. Only thing I use it for is ganking lowbie areas, since I level alts all the time just fine with it off I have no sympathy for anyone turning it on while leveling.
