If there’s an alliance raid group somewhere, just shard hop. Join a random quest group and see if that phase is horde dominate.
The sharding system is trash.
- 1 Faction has a raid group on a shard, outnumbering the other faction. People slowly leave.
- New players get thrown into the unbalanced shard because blizzard is trying to balance it. The problem is the numbers are pretty much always 4:1 so new people shard hop.
- This creates a perpetual shard imbalance where 1 side is farming the other which leads to a terrible pvp experience for all involved.
- The system doesn’t seem to be able to handle 2 raid groups getting put onto the same shard so you end up with horde dominated shards and alliance dominated shards with no in between.
This is what the Alliance in WM had to do prior to the change.
I agree, horde turn off your war mode, actvision its f…ck are game…
GG wow
There are more Horde with Warmode on
but blizzard has just changed Sharding which before only tried to balance the total population in a Zone, And since there was more horde the alliance were outnumbered all the time.
Blizzard just changed to the ratio from 1:1 to 2:1 for alliance meaning, the small population of alliance is being pooled into larger clusters while the horde population is getting spread into smaller numbers.
ex: 7 Shards
Shard 1 = 50 ally 25 horde
Shard 2 = 50 ally 25 horde
Shard 3 = 50 ally 25 horde
Shard 4 = 1 ally 50 horde
Shard 5 = 1 ally 50 horde
Shard 6 = 1 ally 50 horde
Shard 7 = 1 ally 50 horde
for Horde if you see alliance (you basically dont seem them on shard 4-7) your outnumbered now. and you also notice it when you make a raid to fight back against alliance now your phased to a realm where all the alliance are gone again.
So I get the intent for this change, but for horde all it means is that your outnumbered or you basically dont see anyone.
I’m bifactional … and since Alliance got their 30% buff + quest that gives loot, I see a lot more level 120s in groups camping Horde leveling areas than vice versa.
It does seem one group or the other at the Torto and Champions world quests, doesn’t seem to be a dominant in that.
I, personally, don’t see the fun in camping people over and over in a raid. I don’t see the fun in ganking lowbies, but it’s gotta be fun to them since they keep doing it. More power to them. The EXP bonus isn’t worth it to me when leveling horde, tho I enjoy the bonus while leveling Alliance.
Well put… there is no other way for Blizz to balance till now are close again
Funny that I still get calls about Horde advantages. The grass is indeed greener for you on my side of the fence.
Forget about advantages … let’s talk about how the lag is so bad that you can’t even play . Wasted 30 min yesterday getting prepared to raid in Stormsong Valley , we engage with allaince raid and the game freezes . What type of crap is that . Can’t move , can’t do any spells , so I leave the raid hoping that I get phased out and can play again . No good … still with others but now I can get some chain lightening off every 20 secs . Got some cheap kills for the CoT quest now that I am not in the raid but then I get so mad that I switched the computer off.
Now I have not played WoW for long … but is this the standard behavior of the game with raids ? If so why does Blizz allow the making of 40 man raids if their game can’t support it …
man its rly sad when all you care about rewards
All I hear from the horde side is “we used to win all the time and gank when we pleased, now ally doesn’t stand for it bc blizzard is attempting to actually EVEN the playing field…NO FAIR NO FAIR!!!”
@Tauriela-Draenor More like every single alliance DPS has a pocket healer and they’ve reduced this game through pruning to the point you can’t win through outplaying someone in WPvP. Every shard I’m on is 20+ alliance all over around a WQ that attack Horde on sight. Its not even about fairness, I’ve played on a PvP server since I started playing in 2010 and I’m 2.4k exp.
Its not fun, and its definitely not PvP when you have zero chance of winning through fighting back. I don’t care about the rewards, I enjoyed playing on a PvP server and now I have to deal with blizzard’s artificial balance through shards.
Every smart Horde player will boycott this change and turn off warmode because 10% isn’t worth being killed more than twice or so for the advantage.
I didn’t even realize there were ratings in world PVP. Can you tell me more about them?
What a wonderful way to start off a constructive conversation. I don’t know why you would post something sarcastic like that but it has literally zero value. You probably wouldn’t care if I took the time to explain to you why ethos or credibility matters.
Funny, that’s exactly why Alliance players turned off Warmode. Straight from the beginning Alliance players were outnumbered and as more and more got fed up with the imbalance, the problem got worse and worse and more and more turned it off as a result. Evidently, at least according to Blizzard, there is still a population imbalance. Though I guess we’ll see with tomorrow’s reset if numbers have somewhat equalized.
I and many other Horde players that played on PvP servers would be happy to go back to the way it was traditionally with no incentives at all (and without sharding). Any artificial attempts at balancing have always led to an imbalance.
Actually, the way it was traditionally, there was a balancing mechanism on PVP servers, namely battleground queue times. I would agree that removing merc mode so that could help again would be a good idea.
I would love to have persistent server pops, and the corresponding community. It would be great to see the same faces all the time. I also think people would be less toxic in chat, groups, etc., because their reputation would actually mean something.
Yup… I just turned Warmode off. If all horde turns off warmode then ally will have no one to fight. I’d rather ‘break’ the system than participate in it the way it currently exist!
Full circle
There was never any more than a marginal imbalance in population for players that had WM on. It was a perceived issue brought on by sharding. If you don’t believe me listen to Ion the game director who says exactly that.
