Horde Trolls need their mojo back

The Darkspear

The Darkspear need more of a return to their roots, original values & vibes from way-back-when — such as the symbolisation of their symbol ‘The Icon of Shadows’ — Symbolising their worship of dark loa and use of shadowy voodoo magics … Additionally I think we need more powerful or mystical characters amongst them too, than just merely Vol’jin.

Honestly speaking I’d love to see the Darkspear get more “Whoa that’s so awesome!” moment vibes to their race, and also ultimately use them as a leadership figurehead of some sorts, for the other trolls in the Horde …

:diamonds: I do understand a handful want the Horde Troll race to be RENAMED for the mouse-over as ‘Darkspear Trolls’ and finally settle as solely being Darkspear only, however I know enormous amounts of others along with myself – are vehemently against that. :person_shrugging:

Rebirth of the Troll Empire

What I & many others would love, is the Trolls having an extension on their heritage quest — like a speech branching out to the other trolls who have joined alongside them over the many years since classic, something like:

  • “We the Darkspear … Achieved what Zul could not! We unified troll tribes from all over Azeroth – and have began a TRULY greater path to glory for our people, unseen for ages.”

Giving reference to the Darkspear being the first troll domino in the Horde & extending towards the others. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

They could emphasise on the Horde having branched out to other troll-tribes over the ages, taking them under their wing through the Zandalari & Darkspear, by getting more customisations (eg. Forest Trolls, Ice Trolls & additional tattoos) along with more heritage gear variations to the various tribes (maybe more masks too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) — Similarly to the Dwarven Clans for the Alliance.

Amongst NPCs you talk to, you could show the different ways they joined overtime – Such as:

  • You could depict some as dissenters from the troll-related threats we’ve had over the years who joined the Darkspear due to disagreements with the majority of their people.
  • Have races of their respective tribes in Zandalar who felt a bond of unity with the Horde, when they chased the Alliance out of Dazar’alor during the war.
  • Show that also many of various tribes had pragmatic views for their peoples ultimate wellbeing and having joined the Horde as a small yet growing wing of their people (most realistic, given the immense influence, presence & might that the Horde + Alliance have in Azeroth)

We have enough content to tie the ropes in establishing such stories too – Whether it be Drakkari Trolls being against their kind sacrificing their loa & unifying with us to fight against them during the Lich King campaign, some Sandtrolls perhaps having wanted to set up trade with Gadgetzan, enlightened Gurabashi seeing how Darkspear have risen over the years and deciding to follow in their path, and so on.

Power Display:

I’d love to see Darkspear dabble with dark loa once again more often (other than just Bwonsamdi) and utilise shadowy voodoo magics that are :point_right: displayed as immensely ‘POWERFUL’ and awe-shocking to even the Elves, Draenei & others — instead of simply just being brushed off as some form of primitively outdated weak magic.

:diamonds: You could also depict the Alliance collectively agreeing that the trolls in the Horde have grown immensely strong – Having the Darkspear with ties to small pockets of the other tribes over Azeroth, not seen as much of a threat before … but having the Zandalari now joined hands with them — Such small parties have only grown significantly larger, and that the troll empire IS well & truly rising once again … In the Horde.

Other additions? …

So! Upon the ideas & discussion topics of this thread already to be talked about — I thought I would also ask: What additions in aesthetics and stories to be addressed towards the troll empire within the Horde, would you like to see also come to pass?

I have this better idea that we should recreate the Well of Eternity and force all of Azeroths Trolls to bath in it and turn into Elves! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Better yet, lets recreate the Well of Eternity but with a twist – Where it evolves elves into trolls instead :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I could imagine the sweet screams of Elf supremacist fans everywhere :face_holding_back_tears: It’s beautiful

Jokes aside, it’d be cool to see founts of powers for other races — But those that merely give small intricate changes to their overall features & not much larger ones, albeit I wouldn’t mind trolls with 5 fingers & toes for the transmogging capabilities. :person_shrugging:

Sargeras already tried that.

Unfortunately, now Azeroth just bleeds all over places that weren’t impaled instead of pooling at the impact site.

For… reasons.

I don’t really want the well of eternity recreated personally, I was just poking fun of Dreadmoon’s commentary. :yum:

  • On that note of Azerite though — It’d be cool to see what handfuls of races & such were able to achieve from what Azerite they obtained at that time  Sure we stopped a LOT of them, but certainly not all of them.

Anyway, that’s a whole other topic … Out of curiosity Maizou, what’s your favourite Troll-tribe? :yum:

I think we should start by renovating the echo isles. Have some big fancy buildings spanning across them. Have it extend all the way to Sen’jin village. That’d be awesome.

I have tons of that stuff sitting in a guild bank somewhere. They are welcome to it.

I really want for Darkspear trolls to get bigger prominence, but we recently had heritage questline that essentially kicked them in the crotch withrevelation that a tribe that specilizes with training plenty of shadow hunters, who’s job is to appease as many loa as possible Abandoned the Loa.

And the very contradiction the questline. “Darkspears are loyal” … like come on.

Who the ook wrote this.

Also lots of cut content, like Zandalari visit - Talanji and Prelate Rata were datamined, AND forest trolls AND sand trolls but who cares. Let’s cut it off and leave bare bones and leave Darkspears in exact same spot as they were back by the end of WotLK.

“We renewed our bond with Loa”, now it’s 2 instead of 1 (In Zalazane’s fall Vol’Jin had to get back to good graces with Bwonsamedi).

And didn’t you get the memo from this questline? “Other trolls bad”.

It’s hearbreaking for me to write it, but there is no future for them. They had one chance with Vol’Jin to rise into bigger picture, and it ended before it started. For years they were neglected and got absolute bare minimum treatment.

I want to see some proper plot going for them, but apparently it’s time for “elf tribes” to unite. Not troll ones despite this idea being foreshadowed in MoP, and even recently in SL “For the Darkspear tribe and ALL the tribes”.

Just like Warchief Vol’Jin this plot seems to be going nowhere.

But hey here is our elf ranger in the spotlight once more. You like elves, right?

I would really like to see this as it would flesh out their identity, which I feel is lacking.

That would be nice.

Too often I feel like the race is just Orc adjacent.

Mmm… not so much.

I like the races to be individual.

Maybe their representative on the Horde ( ) council.

I am for Darkspear Trolls but not Darkspear.

I would also like to see this for other races (I would especially like to see Undead renamed as Forsaken).

I don’t know.

I really like the idea of a quest that takes the player character around to all the various troll tribes and has them uniting, but I think it would be better as a sort of mutually beneficial pact, building closer ties between them separate from the Horde.

I would rather it be the Darkspear Trolls that reached out to other troll tribes and this is all separate from the Zandalari.

The Zandalari has had enough focus in my opinion and they are traditionally empire-builders with them at the top and everyone else at the bottom.

I would rather see each race as its own thing.

But given that that is unlikely, this would be the next best thing. And the non-Darkspear Trolls can be shown to have left their own tribe to join the Darkspear to be closer to the action  !

I continue to be salty that the Dark Iron is its own race but the Wildhammer aren’t!

This would be amazing.

Even better if we could get glyphs that changed, say a mage’s spell visuals, to a bright white, dark silver, dark grey and black. Or even just for a couple of the more powerful spells.

I am having a real problem with the word ‘empire’ and would prefer something like ‘accord’ or ‘kinship’.

Aesthetic-wise, I would like to see more tribal island style wear.

Nothing with a modern bent!

But things like:

Please note: all these opinions are off the top of my head and are subject to change with new information or a different perspective.

Hence why I made the - ‘Rebirth of the Troll Empire’ - section, to help give some oomph in the story directed to forest & sand trolls.

Especially towards the reasons I stated, to which could be achieved with the slighest of efforts of merely popping an NPC and giving them a dialog, such as what was presented in my - ‘Amongst NPCs you talk to’ - section.

I meant more-or-less use the Zandalari as a stepping stone for the Darkspear, instead of the otherway around for once. :yum:

  • So the other tribes would be like: “The Zandalari sided with the Darkspear and the Horde, and came out more stronger for it than the other way around!?” – Making them recognise just how much stronger the Darkspear have become by the Horde’s side.
    :muscle: :star_struck:

I wouldn’t mind it becoming its own thing either – However as you said, I’d wager that’s unlikely – so this would be the next best thing :person_shrugging: Similarly applied situation with the Eredar to the Draenei — but with trolls

I was more or less making reference to how the trolls always go on about the rebirth of their “empire” – as for the Alliance regarding them rising to such, it simply gives an ominous & foreboding emotion towards the situation

  • Honestly what I’d like is for that to be mentioned, then use it as a good reason to proceed into the Alliance going about means towards improving the lives of their own factions races kingdoms (like restoring Gnomeregan as a full fledged city, with Ulduar-like titantech modifications).

But yeah, the idea for the ‘Empire’ was for it to be regarded as: “It started off as an accord / kinship – but grew terrifyingly large with their increased presence & fame.”

I too, love the troll mogs

Eww gross! Don’t ruin more trolls with that nastiness.

Did you learn a new word?

:joy: To be fair, I did have the thought I was using that wording a bit too much there and was honestly going to change it – but in the end thought “Bah” and continued with the more important details of the thread :person_shrugging:

Hence why I recommended the UNO-Reverse card in my reply to them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You mean they’ve lost their mojo?

Some of it, yeah. :pensive:
… I think the elves stole some too, but that’s another story :eyes:

I would love for Trolls to be more than just loot pinatas, but that would require Blizzard to actually care about anyone that isn’t a Human, Elf, or Orc.

What I would give to be an Ice Troll.

I made a recommendation towards that in another thread, for a “Troll Raid” — Via the ‘Caverns of Time

You could play it upon the Troll & Aqir wars.

  • Aqir Timeline-Infiltrators came to alter the timeline
  • They enhanced enemy forces of the Aqir by increasing their numbers with their own, from the future timeline.
  • We come through disguised as various forms of trolls, to bolster the Troll forces & ensure the timeline results to the right conclusion it had in history.

We could go through different wings fighting alongside the loa, against the various forces & races of Aqir – Those of the Ahn’Qiraji, the Nerubians, the Mantid and more.

Throughout such you could also establish certain little lore hints too, like various Troll NPCs that have token names such as Gurabashi, Amani, Drakkari & Sandfury — Eventually claiming their respective lands & naming it after them in their honour.

… Plus the raid could give us a bunch of cool new troll gear, so there’s that too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Maybe this is what they meant by Midnight bringing all the Elf “tribes” back together. By reverting them all back to glorious Trolls…
