I dont like the idea of merc mode. it would only make the imbalance worse. we need BALANCE. The best solution, IMO, is to increase the ally pop.
Balance would be great, but people just prefer horde more the most part, telling someone they have to pay blizzard again to become a faction they don’t care for… merc mode is the simplest and most logical solution, ques get fixed and people get to stay what they want to be.

I played during vanilla and for the most part want no changes but this is something I will get behind because of the crazy unbalanced factions. I’m all for faction changes now if people will take them
How would you guys propose blizzard transfer your characters? Unlimited free transfers for all your characters on a PvP realm? Or only for PvE realm players? What if I have 10 horde in a PvP server? Blizz is going to give me 10 free faction swaps? Or do you want them to open up the ability to make both alliance /horde on PvP servers unrestricted?
What if blizz made you pay for the faction swap and then also left the restriction in? Can you imagine the amount of whining and blizz shaming?
The issue isn’t the game, and the issue isn’t blizzards inaction. The issue is a bunch of people, unwilling to reroll to the opposite faction (which would have been the solution given to you 14 years ago) waiting for some type of overhaul or complete change from the status quo to fix their problem for them.
I don’t see blizzard giving you one faction change because then you’d have an advantage alliance players don’t have… oh you were horde? Now you get horde and alliance characters bcuz mah free transfer but alliance players don’t get the advantage of having horde and alliance on the same server?
This isn’t even taking into account the people who xfer alliance on horde heavy servers and then are back here complaining about server imbalance because not as many people xfr’d as anticipated.
See how quickly it becomes complicated with way more issues than just “omg my que time is long!”. Stop waiting on blizz to fix your problem for you.
The solution is and will always be… reroll
Or they can do something logical, the fantasy of faction vs faction is dead, no one cares who faction outside of RP. Why not just mix it all up…

Merc Mode IS the simplest, best and quickest solution and does not affect a single Alliance player.

I would 100% go ally. Only reason I’m horde is because that’s where RL friends rolled.
Most have quit but all my stuff is here. I don’t want to refarm everything over 1000s of hours.
Unlike you who complain about the consequences of your decisions, yes it would hurt Alliance. Go read some things on how merc mode decimated the Alliance faction in retail.
What kind of idiot chooses a faction knowing they’ll have long queues, and then complains about long queues?

Alliance players will complain about anything
If people remember the collective Emo from the Alliance a couple years ago about “High Elves”…
All I see are a bunch of retail players trying to change the game based on their poor decision making and inexperience, part of the classic experience is having to reroll if you make mistakes that include picking the wrong class/ picking the wrong faction.
Your solutions drastically alter the game to the point that it would have an enormous impact, fortunately for you there already exists an iteration of the game which has all of the things that you guys are asking for.

Gotta’ love people who are dumb enough to roll a Horde knowing their queue times would be ridiculous and then stomp their feeties about it.
YES MERC MODE WOULD HURT ALLIANCE. The Alliance faction is decimated in retail because there is no reason… none, to roll Alliance if you want to PvP. More Alliance went Horde as there is only an upside to playing that faction. Guilds followed. Groups and guilds became harder to find and more Alliance left, even those that don’t PvP, simply because the pool of players is much larger on Horde.
The faction is pretty much dead due to attrition.
YOU chose Horde. YOU did. Stop trying to screw over Alliance because of your poor decision making.
Because that’s totally why everyone is horde… couldn’t be because they’re the overall more appealing and interesting faction… not going to waste my time with the rest of your post, you’ve proved what you are within the first 2 lines.
