Again, retconned. The Orcs in Warcraft II had always been evil:
Like an elemental force of havoc and destruction we thundered through the lands of the Draenei devastating all that we beheld. Not one life was spared. No building was left standing. The only traces of their existence were the blood-soaked fields they had worked for nearly five thousand years and the rank, acrid smell of the huge victory fires that consumed the bodies of their young. The Draenei were a weak people - hardly worth the effort of our raiding sweep. In the end, however, even these simple victories serve to keep the inferior in their place…
It has always been so with my kind. The savage, brutal tendencies of the masses are easily manipulated by those who hold true power. Power is the true force that drives the great destructive machine that is the Horde. Those who imagine themselves in possession of this power rally around their clan banners of violence. Yet without a common foe, even the leaders of the Orc clans blindly turn upon each other.
The appetite for destruction that prevails amongst these fools drives the Horde; might and might alone is honored above all things.
Orcs are a culture of war. The only time they were peaceful was during holidays where it was tradition for clans to gather, trade, and celebrate.
They fought Gronn, they fought Ogres, they fought each other. Draenor was a planet of war. But even despite that, when the Draenei landed they and the Orcs kept their distance.
Hostilities didn’t begin until the Orcs discovered their spirits being sucked away by the Void Naaru inside Oshu’gun. When Velen tried to explain what was happening, The Orcs shouted blasphemy and rejected his answers.
And it just spiraled out of control from there. Let’s not pretend Orcs were hippies please, you’re disrespecting the lore.
except blizz decided it was a good idea to give them back the drug well in the same expansion they were released, taking away all the immoral degeneracy that made them a fit for horde.
We aren’t really noble lol. Unless feeding off a Naaru is noble, and I mean maybe that argument can be given. We don’t know much about the Naaru and they seem very forceful with a touch of zealotry.
No one is disputing that it’s part of the lore. The whole point of the thread was that the elves going over to the horde should never have been made part of the lore. You’re trying to argue about what is and isn’t, but we’re arguing about what was and what should never have been.
A lot of em seem to have different personalities when it comes to this, on one hand you got Naruu like X’era who want to shove the light down your throat. Then you have naruu like S’aara who are even willing to help the undead get reunited with their families via helping out Calia.
Okay calling the blood elves good, isn’t correct. But they are horde allies simply because the humans screwed it up. Humans attacked the high elves, the horde at the time assisted them. Or the fact jaina kinda massacred a Ton of elves simply because she thought that’s how garrosh got pass.
How? Just 'cause they get a regular fix doesn’t mean they ain’t junkies no more. They’re also still entirely self-obsessed, blame everyone else for their own problems, and think about ditching the Horde every other expansion.
They’re the second most evil race in the Horde, just below the Forsaken. Orcs be coming in at third place. Trust me, they fit in just fine.
