I’ll probably do more BGs than raids when I’ll hit 60. And most of the characters I played were UD.

long story short.
organized PvP : troll, cause you’ll never get a full devouring plague off against any semi-competent team + WoTF is only usefull against 3 classes, 2 of which will rarely be in range to use their fear.
world PvP / pug world : undead, cause devouring plague is sick 1v1… if you’re not fighting against a dwarf, against someone who can cleanse it or against someone who farmed some of those STV pots.
Shorter story: Will of the Forsaken (Undead)
I looked into this, Troll just seems to be the better choice in today’s environment.
Both are viable. Undead is better imo.
Troll, their shadowguard can proc blackout. Their hex of weakness is a heal cut and berserking can be good for panic healing if you get low. Mostly the first two things there though.
Hex of Weakness is the only other Mortal Strike debuff in the game, and Berserking for Troll casters goes up to I think around 45% spell casting haste.
Undead edges out Troll with the dance animation.
If I were going for wPvP though I would go Troll. Hex of Weakness, Shadowguard, Berserking…
Yes, we need more priests
Don’t listen to this guy. They don’t know what they’re talking about.
The troll racial is not useful at all, its 10 seconds, doesn’t apply to dots, is 3 minute cd. All it lets you do is mind flay a bit faster.
Undead can break charms and fear with their racial. They don’t seem to be aware of the fact it can be used against more things than just fear.
You will be able to get devouring plague off against organized teams because dispelling has a mana cost, and and opportunity cost. If you’re dispelling you’re not healing anyone.
Devouring plague is critical when you find yourself in 1v1 pvp situations, it’s way more useful than trolls beserking.
completely aesthetic
They have more than 1 racial…Berserking is the least of the Troll racials, yet it’s the only one you compare?
Do not listen to which guy now?
troll isn’t about berserking.
troll is about blackout procs from shadowguard ( work on spell) and a curse-based 20% healing reduction.
if the team you’re fighting against think it’s more efficient to heal through the devouring plague rather than dispell it… well, I did specify semi-competent PvP team.
and and WoTF also break charm! which will be very usefull… if you are defending lumber mill in AB and another priest come by to MC you with nobody around to interrupt him… that’s about it.
10% regeneration isn’t worth talking about.
AND my post is a reply to somebodies elses. you should see who I’m talking about in the top right corner of my post. Has a little arrow next to it.
this , this is why i like trolls more than UD as shadow pvp
but as heals or wpvp it just does not matter , roll based on Aesthetics
Hence, Femsaken
NO, they aren’t healing through it. They’re healing somebody else who’s being focused while you put devouring plague on somebody else to start the next target. You don’t know how dots work if you think you just put them on the main target. You’re really going to go out of your way to remove devouring plague while somebody else is almost dead?
Blackout procs from shadowguard aren’t important. IF your facing a good team your shadow priest isnt being focused they’re chained cc’d.
Troll Devouring Plague is great 1v1, but is otherwise overrated.
basically it boils down to what you plan on doing more… pve or pvp. troll for pve; undead for pvp was always the meta.
All the videos from PVPers say troll edges out undead. Shadowguard blackout procs can save you from so many classes, especially melee. Devouring plague has a huge Mana cost and is dispel able, and paladins will be spamming cleanse. Hex of weakness and beserking are icing. Wotf is nice. Some people hate the look of trolls and their feet, so just go with what you like the look of. You’ll enjoy your character more and play it more
