I want to roll a horde healing priest for pvp in SoD. Which is the better race for pvp or does it not matter?
I understand that Priest ‘racials’ are being changed in SoD, so you can pick and choose irrespective of race.
But baseline, it’s pretty apparent that is still superior to
for PvP (unless I’ve missed something). WotF is a free trinket that will make-or-break fights, whereas Berserking is good but difficult to use consistently in PvP due to the requirement to be damaged, and 10% spellcasting haste is seldom going to be the mitigating factor in a win versus a loss.
I was thinking shadowguard plus 5 points into blackout stun. Gives things that attack you a 10% chance of being stunned - works on melee, ranged, or casters. It can completely ruin a rogue opener for example, and provides passive self peels. No cooldown and low mana cost so you can keep it up once the charges are used. Thats really the one that has me stuck choosing.
But you say they are being changed in SOD? Does that mean Undead can get Shadowguard??
Does this also mean that Horde can get Fear Ward?
Unless WotF gets nerfed undead will remain best for healing PvP. Doubly so if they can switch out their priest racials for others.
Wait, what? Priests are going to be able to swap around racials?
I haven’t been following this too closely but from what I’ve seen on the forums, this is one of the changes being implemented for SoD, though the specifics have not yet been confirmed.
Their was in the Q&A they mentioned Priests will get quests to learn about the other religions picking up the unique Priest Racials.
Trolls with Devouring Plague, Undead with Shadowguard are happening it’s even been datamined, Questline for Horde is Secrets of Undeath (Trolls Learn Undead Priest Racials) and Secrets of the Loa (Undead learn Trolls Priest Racials).
The only thing uncertain is when will these quest lines open up, could it be early on in phase 1 or in later phases.
I’m rolling Troll priest for phase 1. Shadowguard is a game changer at level 25. Plus, Berserking can be useful in pvp for faster heals or wand attacks. WoTF is great of course, but there is a lot that you can do as a priest to prepare you for a fear, as opposed to other undead classes (shield, hots).
Priest will be one of the best pvp classes at this level (if not the best) and I think Troll priest will be a scary, giant monster absorbing all the damage, dispelling all the stuff, fearing you in all directions, and draining your health and literal soul with ease.
Priests are going to be so much fun!
Absolutely. Also trolls have Hex of Weakness, a ranged 20% healing debuff curse with no cooldown and low mana cost. Its the only MS effect in the game at level 25.
Another big downside of UD Devouring Plague is the sheer number of Paladins we are going to see in SoD. Paladins get Purify (disease & poison removal) at level 8. With like 1/3 of the alliance playerbase being Paladins and/or dwarves, that DP is going to get insta-removed and BAM there goes your 3 minute racial cooldown (and your 3 minute Inner Focus cooldown, because DP mana cost is astronomical). On the flipside, Paladins cant remove curses so Troll’s Hex of Weakness is going to be punishing for them.
Does anyone have a link to this Q&A where blizzard said priests will be able to learn all priest racials from those quest chains?
When is this priest racial swap quest going live. Could be 60? Thats too long

I want to make a troll priest for the racials but would rather the undead for aesthetics. Losing those troll racials on phase 1 would suck though, so really depends on when they implement this racial swap feature
Keep in mind you aren’t able to swap ALL racials, only the priest specific ones.
Personally if I were going Horde Priest I would go Forsaken. WotF and Fear Ward? Yes, please.
Not sure, it may be all or nothing questline so you get both specific racial or it may be inter faction swapping so UD > troll or troll > UD for example
I bet it will be faction-specific. So as a Forsaken you’d be able to swap to having Shadowguard + Hex of Weakness over DP + Touch of Weakness.
IMO Shadowguard (+ Blackout) + Hex + Will of the Forsaken would actually be the best setup if this is the case. Undead priest with Troll’s priest racials.
