Horde Hunter pets running wild in Red Ridge

Lucky enough to have today off so I decided to jump of SoD and do some world pvp on and off on my fairly well geared hunter, mainly in Redridge Mountains. I had several corpse runs admittedly buy I also caused a bunch as well. Then all of a sudden as I’m killing a level 25 orc warrior who seemingly had never stepped foot in a bg let alone done world pvp a hunter pet came out of nowhere and attacked me, clearly being controlled using eyes of the beast. I finished the warrior and killed the pet, then began searching for the hunter who had attacked me. And then I searched some more, and some more, every now and then being attacked by the same pet again. I searched everywhere between the fp in redridge and all the way into Elewynn forest and Duskwood but couldn’t find the hunter. I used eagle eye with spy enabled and hunter tracking, got nothing. Every now and then a name would pop with spy but never anywhere close enough for me to target. Eventually I gave up and went to go pvp elsewhere, that is until all of a sudden other people started talking about 2 hunter pets attacking people right near the fp/town. After this went on for a little while I joined a group including another hunter to find these guys. We spent at least a solid 30 minutes looking all over the entire map for these guys and could not find them to save our lives. Every now and then we would get attacked by the pets, always seemingly coming from a different location. This is when the other hunter figured out that as long as you are effectively in line of sight of your pet, even if you are well past the point the pet should immediately despawn due to distance you can somehow cast eyes of the beast indefinitely. As far as I know people have been looking for these guys for at least the last 2 hours now and still have not found them. Is anyone familiar with this? Not asking for patches or hotfixes I just want to know how to counter this if it is not in fact an exploit or glitch.

I’ll be real with you, if you have LOS, you can cast EOTB from anywhere, seriously. Like 15 minutes of travel time if you wanted to, hypothetically speaking. It should be capped to 1000 yards or so IMO. Give it a long range but it shouldn’t be unlimited. Your redridge hunters were likely in the mountains, moving locations.

To be clear, this is not an exploit or glitch, but I do believe it encourages unfair gameplay as is.

Hunters pets not as annoying as these 5 boomys that like to camp low lvls in that zone. They 1 shot everything with 5 of them targeting 1 person with starsurge hitting 500+ and never die with 5 wild growth

It started off as a minor inconvenience but I’m honestly just more curious now than anything else. Even when I was in a group of 4 they always targeted me specifically, so I assumed it was retaliation for body camping an alt or friend of theirs (fair game imo). Having 2 level 25 wind serpents spamming thunder bolt on leveling players with no means of retaliation I have an issue with. However, they seemed to mainly be targeting level 25 players like myself so it’s not total degen behavior imo. Again, not salty just curious.

It’s not an exploit or a glitch, you counter it by using any cc or snare on it.

Also, that ability is incredibly buggy, and will DC the person casting it 1/3rd of the time.

I’m amused by the idea that the difficulty in finding these hunters was in part because the hunters kept getting dcd as the alli were sweeping their spotll

he’s talking about finding the actual hunter, try reading the actual post

There is a spot in the northern mountains, just above stonewatch or whatever its called, that you can get to by starting the climb from the road between the mountains thats on the way to renders camp. I don’t know the whole path, but I was in a group that found the hunter up there and we spent some time figuring it out. Requires some move speed and interesting jumps for the first parts, not something everyone can do.

Tells you a lot about the balance when the hunter brushes off the warrior as a mere side note of inconvenience only to voice their grievance at another hunter. Lmao

I find it pretty funny that the side that can go invisible and permanently control their pets with very little risk to themselves, and who do it CONSTANTLY, finally have it done to them once and immediately come to the forums to cry about it.

The only issue I really have with this is even if you manage to kill the pet (they can just cancel EOTB right before it dies) you get literally nothing and the hunter loses nothing. It is a no risk all reward style of play. Iirc pets don’t even suffer loyalty loss from PvP kills.

If the hunter had some real consequence or you got something (little honor maybe?) from killing the pet I don’t think it would be an issue.

An example consequence is that if your pet dies during EOTB then EOTB goes on CD for 5 mins. Combine that with limiting cancelling EOTB to avoid the death.

Hunter’s health is tied to the EOTB pet - kill the pet, and it kills the hunter. And you can’t disengage EOTB while pet is in combat.
There. That’s an easy fix.
