I was wondering why blizzard hasn’t implemented “more druid” races into the horde outside of trolls and cows.
i’m not really educated in WoW lore but why can’t belfs or nightborne not be druids. Imo if a blood elf can be a warrior of light and be a paladin there has to be somewhere in the timeline where they also become one with nature allowing them to be druids.
i don’t spend to much time here so if this a common post on here… my bad lol
belfs and nightborne haven’t had much of a connection with nature since we split with our dirt-dwelling hippie cousins. we are aristocratic city folk for the most part. even our hunters are supposed to be modeled after the rangers which are more militaristic than survivalist.
becoming a druid or shaman would go so far against the core culture that you would probably be better off running off to join the night elves since you would be seen as a bit of a freak in either society.
Lol no. We have four; they have 3. The Horde is has more Shamans for “balance” or whatever.
Anyways, high elves became what they were because they were exiled for the whole arcane magic thing. Those that wanted to be Druids stayed with the night elves.
Nightborne did not have any connection to the Emerald Dream. They lived in a bubble, “eating” arcane magic, for 10,000 years.
Plus, neither race has any interest in the balance of nature. They both warped the planets/land around them to be “pretty.”
I’d be more readily able to accept a Gnome Shaman over a Goblin one. Idk how Blizzard justifies that but says that Nightborne and Blood Elves are incapable of becoming Druids…
I’m not sure what you’re referring to but if it’s the two famous botanist that people think are Druids, they don’t use nature magic the way Druids do. They warp and mutate it.
Blizz literally said Goblins were shaman for mercantile reasons. There is (or was) a little quest with a Goblin shaman named Goldmine (?) taking advantage of a business deal with an elemental if I remember correctly.
Blood Elves and Nightborne lack both the necessary appreciation of Nature, and someone willing to teach them.
It might have something to do with their casual exploitation of ecosystems, disregard for balance, and a willingness to force everything to serve them via arcane might.
How is that any different than Goblins conning their way into Shamanism?
The lore doesn’t (and shouldn’t) matter when it comes to gameplay. Forsaken Holy Priests, Night Elf Mages, Goblin Shamans, not to mention the new DKs pulled out of Bolvars bootyhole.
Don’t even get me started on the playable Void Elves, who had their lore literally ripped out of nowhere to justify giving the Alliance a playable Blood Elf model.
Lore in this game has been broken for gameplay before. There’s no reason it can’t be again.
Because they have zero connection to the Emerald Dream.
Other races do have their connections. Highmountain through Cenarius, Tauren through Anshe, Night Elves also through Cenarius, Worgen through Goldrinn, and Kul Tirans through the Drust and Ardenweald.
Because they don’t want to have to come up with new models for every race’s new Cat/Bear/Moonkin/Whatever else forms.
Thats seriously the only reason I can think of. Blizz is willing to twist the lore in whatever way they want to justify any race/class combo, so I don’t see why more Druid races are out of the question.
They were slaves to zandalari so they had an access point to the elements thru them and made their own spin on it by having it be they’re making deals with the elements
Because they ditched nature and highly favor the arcane. Hell, when discussing blood elves, they drained a literal god to become paladins. That’s right, you canonically ate a deity’s flowing juices.
