Horde druid tanks

The difference is so minimal it doesnt matter

The only relevant racials to tanking is the dodge on Night Elves, and the Stam on Taurens. Honestly theres really not much difference between them in the end so pick what you want cosmetically or pick based on faction.

Druids will be slightly better than warriors in p1 classic contrary to the opionions of many. They also made a huge change from vanilla where bear tanks will now be able to use consumables with a /cancelaura macro.

I think this is just due to less lag and the way spell batching was implemented so keen to try it.

Druids are definitely better Ph1 since they will have more armor and health than warriors heading into MC.

They are still great for Horde, though mainly for their crit buff for the MT.

Hey man, I’m an elemental mage.

The build everyone despises. The build everyone said is wrong and dumb and doesn’t min/max the right way and doesn’t fit raid or the absolute, 100% max potential of pvp.

I had sooooo much fun.

Here’s the thing: while leveling and pvp’ing, do what you want. everything pre-60 is up for grabs and yours for the taking. Create the fantasy build you’ve always wanted.

Once you hit 60, you may need to respec to raid.

Do it.

Get some amazing gear! Have some incredible experiences with friends!

And the moment you can, respec again to some crazy stupid build that is fun and have fun. Because everything is rolling out in phases, which means for weeks at a time, you can do whatever the heck you want no matter what.

Play the game. Enjoy it. Do stupid stuff, then farm so you can respec to something that fits what will get you in group. Then farm again and respec and do stupid stuff!

This is a game. Enjoy it as much as you can

Horde druid tanks are still doable but you got to remember that you will have to deal with your dps having extra threat due to windfury, wheras you don’t benefit at all from that sweet sweet totem

I think a feral druid dps/tank offering tanking/off-tanking/3rd tank/dps feral, on different bosses is going to be viable this time round. I don’t think they are even going to need to farm 10 MCP a week either.

They will also be awesome at defending AB flags, and running flags in WG. Maybe they will be rejected by the very top guilds, but for any others they will easily hold down a raid spot because they will gear up independent from the other tanks and offer better options on a few fights.

Manual Crowd Pummeler will mitigate (and surpass this). Best threat per second in the game.

You have to be willing to farm it though.

Tanks will likely only need 3-4 for an entire raid. Cat dps are the ones who would have to farm tons.

Agreed 1000% I’m just thinking of end game dungeon content, scholo/strat/etc. that is a bunch of mcp lol. Although for raid probably won’t be any different then ally side

Not necessary for dungeons at all I’d say.

Yes and no. Druid can well be tanks and fit in yes they have some benefits like switching to cat when off tanking for extra dps however you literally are just a health wall and mitigation is their weakness, so you will constantly see your health in flux and stress most healers. In reality wity block, better defensive CD and just better overall mitigating a warrior is the superior pick every day because you would need to be a great druid with a good - great heals to do what a average warrior + healer combo will do

Skarm had already answered my question @ 41min…

After factoring totems/blessings/racials, both factions are similar for tanking.

Thanks to everyone for responding.

Wait so changing out of bear doesn’t proc a gcd?

So you can cancelaura pot gcd bear between swings?

Instead of cancel bear gcd pot gcd bear?

Bring the player…

We had a great druid who could heal, dps and tank as necessary. Was he the best at any of them, no. But he gave us the flexibility we needed for many encounters. He could OT the burn add well enough. He could off heal as needed and could DPS when we didn’t need either of the above.

A GOOD druid can be an asset, but he must be flexible.

Of course, he complained about having to carry 3+ sets of gear, but that was his problem. :grinning:

shifts were on the gcd back then. there were no direct form to form shifts either all had to go through caster(potion). i forget if caster swing and feral swing were same timer. pretty sure cat and bear were though.

Are you sure you can cancelaura out of forms… that is huge

this in a nutshell. his bags will suffer. makes you wish moonglade had a bank tbh.

  • launch/every new gear tier: bears dominate warriors because of higher base armor and ignoring weapon skill for higher initial threat
  • warriors start edging out once they get defense gear and negate incoming damage the druid must eat nonstop and is subject to getting a decent weapon unlike the druid

so having a druid to open each tier for your warriors and druids shift to healing is a normal pattern. your druid has better access to resist gear pieces because they’re just resist+stam which he can scale and the warrior loses defenses to achieve them.

if you’re horde windfury in your tank group royally stomps on any threat a bear can push. alliance is far closer with just salvation.

i am speaking as a feral tank who tanked everything t1-t3. shifting in vanilla went through caster. good mages saved their blanket cs for this. it was a huge bane of powershifters everywhere but yes it was a thing

which is also to say if you were slowed in travel form and wanted to remove it you had to shift to caster first, then back to travel. even recasting the same form passed through caster. so any clued player could immediately snare you on entering travel again
