what zones specifically are you trying to reach from the wetlands at 20?
Without the boats, to get to badlands Horde either has to go North from STV, or South thru Aliance towns/caves and ?? dragonkin via Wetlands.
Back in Beta Vanilla, leveling was much slower and the boat guards were nerfed (at the time they were identical to the goblins) and later on a teleport to Gnomer was added. The Gnomer teleport is also a solution but it’s guaranteed death because the Dwarves at the top of Gnomer are 55 elites that will slaughter you.

To get to the badlands you run from Tarren Mill through arathi, wetlands, loch modan then badlands. Its all level appropriate if you are actually correct level for badlands.
Two alliance areas with corresponding leveled Allaince guards.
Something tells me you haven’t actually run that gauntlet as a level 30 mage trying to do your class quest lol.
I was originally horde in Vanilla. I’ve done it from both sides. I never once took the Alliance boat, all the guards are avoidable.
Alliance Warlocks have it far far worse than mages. Go to ratchet starting at level 20. Lmao at that for real.
Clearly Blizzard disagrees, because the boat is WAY faster and easier. Thats why they nerfed the guards.
Only way its faster is if you are willing to eat a spirit res to swim and skip wetlands. Otherwise its the same speed. The faster path is probably actually take the gnomer teleporter and run to lochmodan that way.
Heck, they should eliminate the boats and zeps altogether. Pick a continent and stay there.
You’re guaranteed to die that way too, you aren’t getting out of the Gnomeragan elevator without those 55 elite dwarves killing you.

I haven’t done it yet in Classic (too low) but back in Vanilla me and some guildies took over the zepplins all the time. And we weren’t all Rogues. Granted, the fight to get on is tough but once we were on, we could hold it for 3 or 4 trips before enough Horde showed up to fight us off. Good times!
Still not sure why a boat to wetlands is your best option or fastest. Before you even get to the boat docks in darkshore or duskwallow you have to run/blink a bunch to survive.
Directly go through 2 alliance towns, not just skip around the one in loch Modan. And you still have to go through the same tunnels and such whether you go via arathi or menethil.
Seems like trolling to me.
Or just do Hammerfall>Wetlands>Loch Modan>Badlands 5 head
Either way if youre taking our boats youre getting there thru Loch modan Lmao
Horde actually have a significantly easier time traversing the world due to FP locations. They were made second when time was a factor so little though was done and every hub they had to rush out all of a sudden had a FP.
Think grom gol, mojache, kargath, burning steppes, etc. All of your late-added FPS are often smack dab in the middle of a zone or a zone where alliance simply don’t have an FP. Alliance’s only unique FP is blasted lands, but it’s blasted lands lmao
I do admit that it is severely imbalanced and unfair.

This is classic. We shouldn’t be making balance changes. I think it’s unfair Druids don’t have a redirection outside of a long cooldown, or that their non-healing specs are not really viable. It is unfair that enhancement spec generally sucks for pve. It’s unfair that ret paladins have a hard time keeping up in the damage meters. It’s also unfair how protection paladins do not have a taunt.
A lot of things about vanilla are unfair / unbalanced.
If changes aren’t made then the faction dies and then the game dies. Is this what you want?
