Horde and Alliance reinforcements for Isle of Dorn: information and curiosities

People keep saying that everyone is so focused on META activities and nobody cares about anything else… I took some time to go around the Horde and Alliance forces that arrived in the Isle of Dorn and took some notes here.

Horde races that were rallied:

  • Orcs
  • Mag’har Orcs
  • Forsaken
  • Goblins
  • Tauren
  • Darkspear trolls
  • Dark Rangers (I consider them Forsaken tbh)

Horde named characters:

  • Lilian Voss
  • Dark Ranger Velonara
  • Deathstalker Commander Belmonth
  • Champion Uru’zin
  • Aponi Brightmane
  • Tahu Sagewind
  • Lady Liadrin
  • Salandria (yep that orphan elf from TBC)
  • Kor Dawnchaser
  • Gorgonna < Warsong Clan >
  • Volt < Gob Squad >
  • Sunwalker Dezco
  • Shuja Grimaxe
  • Warlord Breka Grimaxe
  • Captain Rez’okun
  • Gazlowe (he arrived with Thrall but no longer at the beach)
  • Ji Firepaw
  • Overlord Geya’rah
  • Halduron Brightwing
  • Mehlar Dawnblade
  • General Rakera

Alliance rallied races:

  • Humans
  • Night Elves
  • Draenei
  • Dwarfs
  • Worgens

Alliance named NPCs:

  • Captain Tread Sparknoozle
  • Thisalee Crow
  • Delas Moonfang
  • Arko’narin Starshade
  • Lysander Starshade
  • Sentinel Commander Lyalia
  • Henry Garrick
  • Captain Garrick
  • Aysa Cloudsinger
  • Officer Herrick
  • Danath Trollbane
  • Kudran Wildhammer (no longer at the beach)
  • Vindicator Jaelaana
  • Grand Vindicator Sorvos
  • Tinkmaster Overspark
  • Gila Crosswires < Tinkmaster’s Assistant >
  • Walton Cogfrenzy < Chief Architect of Mechagon >
  • Captain Tandred Proudmoore
  • Brother Pike
  • High Exarch Turalyon

Some curiosities:

  • Horde Peons are present with the classic voice "yes, what do you want, me busy leave me alone, me not that kind of Orc)
  • Alliance peasants? No, Alliance workers instead… no fun! But they have Kul’tiran workers voice.
  • There is a constant flow of boats with cargo and they keep unloading.
  • Ji Firepawn and Aysa Cloudsinger are training the Earthen together, side by side. Kinda cute going back to SoO in MoP where she rescued in.
  • Danath Trollbane is patrolling on an alliance themed warhorse with the lion’s banner, an Orc head on one side, Goblin and Frosaken head on the other side (never saw similar mounts like that, I think Blizzard should add these trophies to customize our mounts like there is in Diablo 4)
  • Absence of Blood Elves soldiers, only named NPCs are present.
  • Same goes for Void Elves and even the so “called” high elven from the alliance, none are present.
  • Some human males have the voice of Kul’tirans but they are fit like regular humans.
  • Gnomes are present but just as engineers along with their siege engines. Not soldiers!
  • Only the alliance brought siege engines so far.
  • There are wildhammer gryphons and riders in one of the alliance ships
  • Alliance Ships all have the flagship from Kul’Tiras but only one Kul’tiran captain (Tandred Proudmoore)
  • Horde has standard Horde Destroyer, but one of the Captains is a Zandalari Troll.
  • Both alliance and Horde only have one captain but 3 ships
  • There is an alliance siege engine sunk near one of the ships (someone did an ooopsie)
  • There is a flow of soldiers coming from both Alliance and Horde ships to the beach in small boats, that are guided by troll and dwarf shamans.
  • In one of the alliance ships, there is a big line waiting for meals and only 2 alliance workers.
  • Most allied races are not present with exception of Mag’har Orcs.
  • There is one Mechagnome and one Lightforged Draenei, but they are named NPCs.

I also thought of making some statistics but these NPCs are random generated so it didn’t make sense, but it was fun to see the details that the team added here, and I wanted to say that it doesn’t go unappreciated.

Did I miss any NPC or have you found something else? What do you think? Comment here I’ll add to the list.

I personally think that the mount Danath is using is kinda unnecessary right now. Walking around with a head of an Orc, Goblin and Forsaken when they were rallied here to work together seems a bit too much for me. I wonder what would be the opinion of others about if it was an Orc with that… Garrosh-ish thing to do…

Had it posted in the wrong forum

Didn’t she almost get murdered by a Naaru because she has some kind of shady future?

Wonder if we’ll be seeing that soon.

A bronze dragon in the Caverns of Time!

Oh right I knew it was something suspicious.

Cool to see that they haven’t forgotten her and a storyline 15 years in the making might pay off.

You left out the exchange between Turalyon and I think Geya’rah. Very “I don’t like you but we have to work together” tone.

I knew I should have took pics since the exchange is probably different for Alliance players.

I remember that, but is that a dialogue that happens scripted? I remember the dialogue when I was doing the quests, but when I was around there they didn’t talk to each other (outside of the campaign)

Mainly human characters such as Varian, Genn, or Wrymbane use this mount too. :mag::robot:

yeah, I was researching about it and found that there was a controversy already back then and some people argued that if the Horde counterpart had human decapitated heads the game rating would skyrocket lol.

I’m still confused what’s acceptable when it comes to censoring models. Poor lich model. :paintbrush::robot:

China doesn’t like visible bones. I forget why

Mainly human bones because…

Video games in China cannot depict characters emerging from the ground, as if rising from the dead. Games that feature skeletons may need to be reworked for China by adding flesh to the characters…

…Chinese censors have cracked down on social media posts about a medical supplies company that was allegedly involved in trading dead bodies or body parts. The company, Shanxi Aurui Biomaterials, was investigated by authorities in several provinces for over eight years…

And that makes more questions than answers. I will look for a different source. :robot::thought_balloon:

It would have been a neat little interaction if she tagged along with the expedition and had a small interaction with Zaladormu again (even if it was just part of the background RP in Vald)

Meh. I don’t get it. But its their game version

shrug

Maybe she didn’t come deliberately, after an experience like that I would probably avoid dragons lol

We are already here. My whole team is Blood Elves.

There is a better answer from China. :world_map::robot:

…One easy observation to make is that the fleshy-skeleton phenomenon, and other similar examples of censorship, seem to afflict foreign games more often than they do Chinese ones. It could be simply that, as mentioned above, companies publishing foreign games are more likely to censor games with a heavy hand because they want their games to get approved quickly so they can keep pace with the game’s other servers overseas.

But it could also be that China’s government has another, stricter set of censorship standards that apply only to foreign games. I’m not aware of any evidence such a regulation exists, but China has been known to use internet censorship and dragged-out review processes as a tool to make similar domestic games and services more competitive…

…In other words, the next time you see a fleshy skeleton lumbering towards you in WOW, don’t blame Chinese culture, and don’t even blame the Chinese government. Instead, blame the game’s Chinese publishers, who put flesh back on the bones in the hopes of getting the game released more quickly in China.

Danath trying to flex his PvP prowess lol.

Definitely weird given the context that we’re all working together.

Would be like using that troll head on a stick weapon from TBC/Wrath lol. It’s cool yeah, but this isn’t the time for it lol.

They’re supposed to be being diplomatic.

I did enjoy the quarrels between the two factions though, reminded me of the MoP Pandaren starter zone on the turtle.

There is also a troll head in the mount, right in the back, so 4 heads except Tauren.

Well in real life navies, you don’t need a captain necessarily to skipper a smaller ship. So maybe only the cruisers need Captains, and the smaller ships are skippered by Commanders or Lt. Commanders
