Let’s keep this post completely professional. Nothing about this post is trolling or trying to stir up anger. This post is about balance in the game we all love. Ultimately the goal here is to get some kind of response from the creators of this great project, letting the alliance and horde players know that balance between these factions is officially going to happen and is important to the developers.
HERE ARE THE GLARING PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW:
(1) Right now Blizzard gives alliance a 30% bonus to exp and most rewards to turn War Mode on, yet horde players think this is unfair and camp lower level areas 24/7 now, murdering the quest npcs over and over out of spite. The bullying in some zones is sickening.
(2) Horde has an iron fist on the raiding community. The top 20 guilds for world firsts is all red side. Why every player has decided to go horde must have something to do with racials on the min-max scene. Maybe it’s time to remove racials that directly effect combat?
(3) Horde have close to a 60/40 edge now in the player base on level 120 characters. It appears a lot of people have abandoned the alliance and just play horde now, and it’s getting worse every day. Hence the reason for this post.
I just listed 3 major problems but obviously not all of them. Please post what you feel about the current situation with alliance and horde and how you would fix the problem. Please let the devs know how you feel about this and hopefully they will reply.
EDITED: This is a response I made to understand why I say 60/40
Every server that I have personally tried out so far in the last 3 years has at least 20 horde vs 5 alliance on average in open world pvp. Mythic Guilds also seem to be around 20% more on horde side as well if not much higher now. This leads me to believe there is close to a 20% gap between active players now, ultimately leaning heavily towards the horde. This is a best guess and common sense, but it’s blatantly unbalanced. Just look around you on these forums, reddit, mmo-champion, youtube, asmongold, etc. The factions are very messed up right now and something needs to be done about it.
The demographics of the player base has changed over the years, and it’s probably a bit late to fix it. Any heavy handed attempt to do so would probably anger a lot of players. I also do not think the developers plan to do anything at this point for this release. What they have in store for the next expansion, I don’t know.
I think most people would be happier if incentives and quests for Warmode were completely removed. Warmode would then be a non-issue for most players. People who like to PVP can still do Warmode in a free for all environment.
But again, I don’t expect the developers to do anything more for BFA really. I don’t think they would be willing to just remove all incentives, even though I personally think that would be better for the game.
First, well thought out post and i appreciate the work you put into it.
As far as your list goes, going to touch on each point but first it would be nice if people that post this stuff gave some recommendations on how they feel Blizzard could/should/might go about fixing this issue.
First point, the Horde players are only making their problem in WM worse if they are camping quest NPC’s since there are other ways to level and still have WM on while not questing. Alliance can just use those avenues and still have WM on…OR they can just turn off WM for the small amount of time it takes to level a toon to max level.
Second point you are right that some of the problem is min/maxing for the top and of course there are alot of lemmings that swap just because that is what the top does even though it won’t matter in their raiding or ability to raid they just want to pile into the same train of thought because they think they are minmaxing too. The larger problem in my mind is everything in the game is about the Horde all time and they have put every effort over many many years to make the Horde the place to be through every avenue AR’s/Story/Racial/Choices etc. etc. etc…and that is just the way it is and i don’t see this changing.
Third point, the Horde playerbase will point to the number of toons as though somehow the fact that if you look at the tools available the Horde side is full of groups while Alliance is just empty. I don’t see this changing anytime soon unfortunately as all the lemmings have piled in now and will just do anything to justify all Horde all the time no matter what which of course is why they are crying even now about a carrot that is not fixing the problem and people for the most part aren’t using but the Horde are so petty that they can’t see how bad things are or want to fix it so they have a game to play.
Good luck with this thread i am sure the Horde players will be here in numbers to cry/whine and complain about how hard they have it and how rough it is for them…all while the Alliance dies and the game dies with it.
the devs did this. hehe . they made horde the cool, edgy, faction, gave them better racials, praised them at every blizzcon while making fun of alliance and complaining that we’re boring goody two shoes faction. they made the faction. they gave it the races. they made the game. they are complaining about their own game. its weird haha.
no way to solve it, other than just give alliance what they ask for (high elves, sethrak, ethereals, etc) so they can spend the rest of their time enjoying the race they’re playing. otherwise, they’ll just lose more and more alliance. at least the rp’ers and casuals on alliance will enjoy themselves then, cause lord knows we lost our raiding and pvp scene.
you may want to go to realm pop and check your numbers is 53.6 to 46.4 at 120 how close does it need to be for you to be happy? thats soooo close to 50:50. does it need to be exact down to a tee for you or are you just complaining to complain?
thats actually quite a few players. horde is up by 300 thousand in the usa. we dont know how realm pop determines stats other than the auction house, which is not the best way to tell, honestly. blizz is the only one that knows how many alliance main alliance, and how many are horde alts.
it is if you take into account we lost our raiders and pvpers. that could mean its even worse than we thought. for example in rated pvp 1800+ horde is 70% and alliance is 30%. and its even worse for competitive guilds. those use to be near even. we could be looking at horde alts getting mounts/pets/achieves on alliance at 120.
you need facts friend, just because most of the alliance enjoys collecting and not playing endgame content doesn’t mean your faction is outnumbered it means they dont care for pvp or raiding
Realm pop is not a good source for the extant of the imbalance. For instance, I’m an altoholic and have 15 lvl 120 alliance toons. Realm pop would count me as 15 people.
To see how bad the disparity is, just look at group finder and/or compare instanced pvp ques. It’s like night and day between the horde and alliance.
no we lost them because the devs gave the horde m+ boss fights that were competitive for horde racials only. this caused alliance m+ guilds to transfer their guilds to horde. i watched them leaving in near real time. one day they were in the top 10 alliance, next day they were horde. this caused guilds that were trying to emulate them, to transfer also, and it caused like a tipping point, where they flooded over to horde, even non-competitive raiding guilds.
they gave horde better racials overall, with a brief time in vanilla and wod, where it was alliance favored. we use to have a highly competitive guild scene, a few really good m+, and quite a healthy pop of rated pvpers.
its going down, gradually, inching toward the point where the only people who are gonna play alliance is if they dont mind that no queue pops and they get raided in warmode.
That didn’t take long. See, they always point to the number of toons instead of the population actually playing either side. That’s ok, like i said they won’t be happy until their is no Alliance to play the game or fight against.
