Hord Priest? Isn't that against their role?

Thinking in an RP way the hord seems strange to have the priest class. Does it fit with the overall story?

Priest is generic for a cloth user that knows healing spells.

Not all priest worship “the light”.

If you do the opening Azshara zone quests youll see Goblin priests dropping in on parachutes to offering their healing in exchange for gold or as part of a bought policy.

The Blood Elves wield the Light as a weapon, rather than commune with it.

The Light doesnt has a self consciousness that we are aware of, Naaru are an alien species but not the Light itself, the Light is a primal force of the universe technically anyone can use for whatever reason, we have fought against more than enough evil priests to see this by now.

So a Blood Elf Priest is legit in an RP sense?

I’m assuming priests who died from Arthas and returned as Forsaken by Sylvanas just didn’t forget their priestly ways? I think?

Yep. All it really takes is devotion to study and aptitude to controlling the magic like any other.

The Forsaken are actually really interesting with priests. The magic that keeps the undead “alive” is harmed by Light magic, so in essence they are willing to hurt themselves to cast healing magic.

Edit: to more answer your question, the Blood Elves see all magic as a tool, including the Light. Its a useful source of power and healing but not everyone in the society is a Light worshiper.

With the restoration of the Sunwell, now infused with a Naaru’s heart and filled with both Holy and Arcane magic (thus the new golden eyes option) the older, tool like approach to the Light might have softened among many, especially Lady Liadrin who is a follower of the Light.

There were Blood Elf priests way back on Warcraft III. They joined the Horde after that.

Horde shouldn’t have Paladins and Alliance shouldn’t have Shaman.

But for the sake of balance it’s better we do not have class exclusivity for factions.

Aliance have shamans since the second war, dwarf wildhammer have shamans.

Forsaken priests are canonically shadow priests, so no, it isn’t.

That hasn’t been true since Legion.

Yet, here we are.

Darling, A naaru gave its life to restore the sunwell turning it into a holy/arcane well. Which means dear the blood elves are closely tied to the light now remember tho that only a few years ago fel magic scared the blood elves and it will take time to heal that wound.

Maybe this was true until the end of BC. But Blood Knights definitely revere the light just as much as humans for example.

“Hord” Priests are cruel to be kind.

No. Use light magic depends more on faith than on study.

Some do, especially Liadrin and those under her. Regardless of when though it shows that reverence isnt needed to wield the light.

But it doesnt, like the example of goblin priests during the quest, they only used light magic to turn a profit, and we kill many bad guys that wield the light.

The Light doesnt grant anything, it doesnt have a known consciousness to do so, it is just a source of power people learn to tap into. Otherwise every peasant in Stormwind would be a priest or paladin.

Light isnt per say “good” its just another means of force in the Universe. Like Void and Fel.

Good example of Light not being “good” is Xe’ra trying to enslave Illidan to become a soldier of the light.

pay attention: IT DEPENDS ON FAITH

it doesn’t matter if you are piece of garbage, a “bad person”. If you belive in the light and you keep trust in her you can use light power, if you belive what you are doing is the correct action the light answer to you.

And all that doesn’t depend on the race, light magic work like that whit all races.
