Ungodly amounts of Mail gear… so much mail gear…
Didn’t you know, it’s Season of Warriors, welcome to classic where loot drops and most of the game is designed around making Warriors Gods.
No.
RNGesus just isn’t favoring you. Don’t turn SoD into retail welfare. We don’t need participation trophies just because you’re having bad luck.
Too many of the drops are fluff pieces to pad out the loot tables, or just weirdly itemized pieces.
Hoping Gnomer is a 20 man raid and each boss drops 4-5 pieces of loot, personally.
But even if its a 10 man like BFD, bosses need to drop at least 3 pieces of loot each, because we’re adding a whole new armor type in Plate at lvl 40.
BFD itemization was already bad enough with only mail users getting a full set of gear in the actual raid itself. They NEED to do better with Gnomer, and they even said they were going to try so fingers crossed.
That’s not at all what I’m saying. It’s pretty standard for all of vanilla to wotlk that final bosses drop best loot. Final bosses shouldn’t have shared loot tables with the 2nd-4th boss. That’s just terrible design
I think the raid loot is a bit awkward, but you expect me to believe you’ve done 16 clears and haven’t seen a single dagger? Out of the 4 daggers that drop? each from different bosses with 10-20% drop chances each? That’s gotta be like a 30-50% chance each run to get a dagger. I don’t believe you.
It doesn’t really bother me that much that the leveling raids have rare epic drops because the gear won’t matter next phase. I have seen 0 staffs in probably 30 or so runs (this is across three characters). It’d be nice to get, but honestly not the end of the world.
The plus side of rare drops is that it’s exciting if you get it. the downside is you can feel cheated when others have good luck.
At least the trinket drop is guaranteed every run. There are almost no good trinkets while leveling, so that’s one good thing at least.
1 sword
2 xbows
1 staff
0 feral wep
Missed maybe three lockouts on main
The loot tables are actually that bad. Basically in the same position as OP (although we have seen a dagger):
7/7 since day 2:
0 Epic Staff
0 CrossBow (RIP to our hunter, sorry he joined the guild group I guess)
1 2h sword (did not see this until run 15, literal months without an epic)
0 Feral Wep
1 Honed Darkwater Sword (Also dropped on run 15, this is dps warrior/rogue BiS).
1 Cloth Chest, just dropped yesterday.
0 Dagger of Willing Sacrifice (caster 1h off last boss)
Notables:
3 int leather helmets in one run before
2 int leather helmets in one run before (This is not account for all the int leather helms we see already, pretty much every single week).
Never seen the epic bag or epic soul shard bag
Never seen the druid relic (this poor feral)
Never seen the warlock trinket (that imp damage one)
It’s possible for many reasons:
First things first: The loot tables are really large and there are a lot of bloat/extremely weak raid items.
2 out of the 7 bosses have actual useless loot tables except for 1 item, which is the turtle and Baron.
Shadow Murlock arguably has a bad loot table that only really benefits boomkin and then the highly sought after gloves for mail. I’ll leave him out of being “bad” because he can drop tier.
That leaves us with 5 bosses that drop loot that isn’t disrespectful. 10 items total (excluding pearl as any guild group that has done 10 clears has them all).
Lorgus and Shadow Murlock can literally drop the same tier pieces, these are shared on top of the unique loot they can already drop. This happens extremely frequently. The leather int seems to have the highest drop rate but is the least needed.
Kelris also has a ton of BiS items, but the epic staff has an insanely low drop rate, lowest across all the epics. Many guild groups have never even seen a staff drop, yet each raid realistically needs around 3-4 of these. Phase is done in 2 weeks. Kelris loot table too big, and has stuff that is either really strong or just weak. The weak stuff has a much higher drop rate. Why can Kelris drop 2 different necks, a caster off-hand, AND a wand? (That’s not even all the caster gear he is capable of dropping). He also can drop a weak caster 1h, while being able to drop the epic staff and the last boss having a much stronger 1h next…
Just EXTREMELY poorly put together loot tables
Nah, epics should remain incredibly rare before 60. Those other parts are just bad rng on your part.
why we bringing that era mentality into SoD? This is a seasonal game mode meant to be fun. Guess the devs wasted their time creating these items since the phase is almost over and many guilds haven’t seen a staff for example.
Tbh the quirky/bad loot items should just be put on their own loot tables.
No, I don’t think it’s ‘cool’ or ‘fun’ to have a ring that slightly increases stealth reduction or gives 10% swim speed drop instead of a piece of actually usable gear.
I don’t think it feels good to have a Paladin Libram with +15 AP to Undead drop instead of actually usable gear either, whether you even have a paladin in your group or not.
Just put all the random bull-crud that you came up with on its own loot table. Have it all have a 15% chance of pulling one weird, quirky, silly, useless item from that table on all seven bosses as a third drop alongside two USEFUL pieces of gear.
It just feels like Blizzard was trying to have BFD be a mix of useful gear and ‘fun items’ that help out in other forms of content in rare and interesting ways… and they dropped the ball and fell way, way short of the mark.
EDIT: The missing item slots are also very weird.
Why is Mail the only Armor Type with a gear piece in every slot? Meanwhile both Cloth and Leather are missing pieces of gear, despite there being WAY more of both classes then there are mail users atm.
Personal loot please… this old loot system is awefull
This is still Classic, go back to retail if you need your gear to be purple.
I don’t necessarily think personal loot is the answer. Just more condensed, sensible loot tables or an additional piece of loot per boss kill would be nice. I haven’t seen my mail set piece helmet drop and I’ve done almost every BFD lockout since SoD began. After a certain point, it gets a bit tiresome.
This is SoD, go back to dead era. Don’t even care about the color of the quality, the staff could be green quality for all I care, just want even a chance to see that loot in a TEMPORARY phase of a TEMPORARY game mode.
0 daggers but we have seen 7-8 of those swords off naga boss.
It’s still Classic, meaning it is based off of the Vanilla design principle. They’ve even said as much.
