Hoping for Cata (just looking forward)

I know we aren’t really even into wotlk yet but I really really loved and miss cata. its when my friends and I had the most fun and I loved the additions of TB, Rated BGs and battle for gilnaes my all time fav BG classes felt amazing in pvp and the raids were a lot of fun with some really fun items added to the game (albeit a little broken) i personally enjoyed azeroth flying it made wPvP a bit dull at some times but also remember countless times it saved me from griefing players lol.

I personally think they should just stop after wrath and redo it all again from vanilla up to wotlk and keep cycles of that going or attempt a vanilla +. I just don’t think cata will keep enough people around that want to play it and feel like it will just kill the rest of the classic population regardless of whether it’s good or not, the stigma tied to it bringing wows demise is a huge turn off for me and was when I quit playing wow for the first time since release back in the OG days.

WoTLK was peak subscriber cata is when they killed the game everyone started leaving after cata I don’t know what world you live in where you think cata was a good game

Cata is when most people quit so it would be suicide for Classic.

wrath is when everyone started leaving. Its just also when lots of new people started playing too. If you look at sub count, subs stayed pretty much dead the same the entirety of the xpac. But yeah Cata is when new players stopped joining so the players leaving became noticeable.

Try explaining this to the pro RDF squad and their minds explode.

Nailed it!
WotLK started at approx 11.5mil, and peaked at the end at 12mil. That is horrible growth compared to BC (8.5mil to 11mil) and Vanilla (up to 8.5mil). Cataclysm dropped from 11mil, to its lowest point at 9.1mil. It also needs to be considered that Activision involvement began during the late development of WotLK, and it’s effects were felt during the expansion (eg: the introduction of the store mount).

These numbers show WotLK’s RDF did not affect a large growth within the game, and the .5mil increase before Cataclysm was the standard pre-expansion hype, which had quickly dropped off.

I think they will go to Cata eventually but not right after WotLK. I bet they do some SoM projects first (e.g., TBC).

I mean really… just stop after wrath. If we keep going because so and so Has a favorite xpac then all this is is starting retail over and we never stop and just follow the foot prints of the most recent retail xpac.

Nothing gets me hyped at all about going past wrath and I honestly can’t understand why anyone would

Like yeah bro I can’t wait for battle for Azeroth som.

so what’s wrong with everybody getting to play the version of wow they liked most? just because you disagree or dislike the expansion doesn’t mean you have exclusive rights where it needs to stop. seems a bit entitled to me but if you have a fair justification feel free to elaborate

I hope to god they don’t go past wrath, if they go cata it is just going to get so ridiculous. I wonder if WoD classic would have a bigger player base than p6 SoM hahaha

It seems more so entitled to me to want blizzard to spend time and resources on an expansion that a very small niche of people want rather than them focussing on the real versions that classic players wanted (vanilla-wotlk).

Although not all expansions were home runs with the community most if not all xpacs have had features players have loved a part of and wanted more of. personally, i loved all of cata but hated MOST of WoD but being able to sit in ashran all day and pvp gear a new alt was really solid, glad stance for warriors is loved by almost everybody and my favorite ability of all time cascade was in WoD. i think gatekeeping other people’s fun just because you don’t want it is really sad. just don’t play it and keep playing the expansion you liked the most. hopefully, if they keep going they keep all classic content available for diversity if that’s not the case then i can see a problem otherwise idk stop being so upset that people don’t like the same things as you.

Buddy this has nothing to do with entitlement. How many servers/xpacs do you’ve believe can be online without fracturing the playerbase so hard all servers are dead? It would implode on itself. If there is one thing blizz is good at it is not letting the hype train die. Classic playerbase would hemorrhage from cata onward.

So because wotlk peaked at 12m and cata dipped to 9m makes cata niche? you have REALLLLLY settled into that bandwagon of yours i guess because i can’t even begin to make “9 million is a niche” a productive conversation. its ok that you dont like cata though even though yall will already get WotLK but want to dictate what 9 million people think is fun to your sole perspective. me and my friend group will still hope for cata reguardless we all loved it.

Classic is only up to wrath because it is compartmentalized within wc3 story. Cata onward is made up making it new school wow

You think losing 3 million players is a good thing? I personally think wrath was the beginning of the decline. Hell I don’t think TBC was even that great, to me vanilla was the best expansion and I think the hype from vanilla lead to TBC’s growth and in turn wraths small growth, and then cata was the first expansion that WoW lost players, and to lose 3 million people is insane. Just shows how hated the expansion was across the board.

i played all of cata and never ran into people crying about how much the xpac sucked. the people who quit were probably the mass amount of people the FLOOD of marketing wotlk got and a large amount of people were new to wraith and cata just stopped playing but to all the people who have been here playing since vanilla we stayed and enjoyed most of it. im just getting a whole lot of feelings here and not much sense again its ok you didnt like it so just dont play it i however am hoping for it and looking forward to it
