Now that Christmas and New Years is out of the way I’m really hopeful that we see some Evoker changes, because if we don’t I’m probably rerolling 10.5. I’m completely okay with being middle of the pack DPS (even though that’s usually rare for a brand new class), the things I’m not okay with is the complete lack of magical mitigation, magic damage shreds us, certain abilities are a 50/50 survival rate even with obsidian scales up.
My honestly best idea to fix this would be to make Renewing Blaze a sudo immunity/ cheat death. Make it so while Renewing Blaze is active you cannot have your health reduced below 1, and if they want the cooldowns could be increased if you do take lethal damage in that time.
Finally talent variety is already stagnant, shifting between a ST build and AoE build feels like it has minimal impact on how you actually play the class, ST you just using Shattering Star basically on cooldown, and AoE you just spam Pyre. Almost all of Evokers talent options are passive buffs to existing abilities, and the capstone’s seem very dull for where they are on the tree.
Hopefully Devoker isn’t just a passing thought to play second fiddle to the healing spec, because while I want to love the DPS spec, but some of it’s more obvious teething issues are making me feel more frustrated at the end of a play session than anything else.

Mine is to make it simplified to just be like Gift of the Naaru OR make it an absorb shield that heals you for all the damage it absorbs over 8 seconds. Something that lets you use it reactively instead of proactively.

That would be a nice change, one thing I think evoker struggles from is trying to combine too many effects into one button. Obsidian scales is our only defensive for both magic and physical damage, Hover is our only movement button but it’s also our cast while moving utility. Maybe giving some of those effects their own button might help remove that feeling where you just run out of answers.
A lot of people think casting while moving should just be the default for the class since it’s hamstrung at 25 yards, and that hover should just be for movement.
This would open the talent choices a lot, as you’re really forced to take the hover buffs in the spec tree because you need it.
BM hunter can do their entire rotation on the move without any help at 40 yards, evoker should too at 25.

That would be nice but idk if blizz would bite for that, seems like or feels like Evoker can only get something nice if it also has a negative as well.
I think you just nailed why I find Evoker talent trees so frustrating, because by the time you have picked up all the mandatory talents you have very little flexibility with the rest of your points, even trying to move around utility (DB stun, Roar enrage dispell, twin guardian) feels like you have to sacrifice something that should just be baseline.
Devoker’s talent tree just sucks so hard. It’s littered with talents that are either minimally impactful or outright dead, but you have to take them to get to the few talents in it you basically have to have just to function. Quite a few of their talents should’ve been baseline in the first place, like renewing blaze and having two charges on obsidian scales.

Sorry, I sometimes think I’m funny… I’ll see myself out…

After they fix Devoker, maybe they go back to the drawing board on the Unravel ability. It seems so incredibly niche and still kinda weak.
