Played since vanilla, hard mode raided, keystone mastered, AOTC’ed at various times over the years. Played more casually than that at other times and have taken some time off here and there.
SL to me has just been the worst by such a large margin. The game has just never felt less accessible to an average player that still wants to progress than it has in SL.

The game is way too cynical to be centered around friendships. The meta is to make cliques and charge strangers to play.

If that’s what you think then it’s only a matter of time before you leave too. Then I won’t have to hear your wrong comments anymore.

Timeless Isle aside, I don’t think I’ve ever found it easier to get decent gear. There’s definitely some problems but that isn’t it.

I thrive in that environment. I want a better game for people like OP
Your perspective is a very, very, very small minority. If the game were improved, players of your perspective would be unaffected, and the massive majority of people who can’t see the game from your perspective could also play. WoW’s systems as designed don’t function in low population hours. The low population dips we suffer in off hours are not that far off from happening at all hours. You don’t see the storm coming, or are posting a bad take in bad faith.

I agree that secondary systems that require you to do chores and boring stuff is lame and has ruined wow. Wow was better with just gearing no other timegated, long grind system.

What hours are you talking about?
Make some friends. Play when they play. That will overcome your problem.
Your problem is “oh… it’s late… I’m the only one online” WELL GUESS WHAT! There you go. The solution is simple. GO TO BED! Get on a schedule with other people. Why? Because YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH OTHER PEOPLE!
You’re crying “Blizzard there’s not enough people” THERE ARE DIFFERENT REASONS FOR THIS it’s not just one thing. Cross faction should help. They need to connect more realms, merge more servers, and keep bringing people together… by making the room smaller. UNTIL THEY DO THAT we have to be creative, make friends, and try to coordinate schedules better.
I know. I’m casual. I don’t meta raid like you do, but if I had your problems I would find a way to solve them instead of quitting. There’s nowhere else to go.

How is SL not accessible for the average player?

They don’t have phones and don’t have authenticators.

Well Shadowlands was not well received considering all the stats we have on our hands, like mplus, raid clears, blizz monthly active users etc. I would argue all the chores and dailies burnt players out and that the average player doesnt have the time to actually do all these dailies\stuff that is required to play optimally. It might be accessible but its not viable for the normal human and a normal week.

love when people come in with statements that are objectively false because their nostalgia has clouded their eyes.
SL objectively speaking is way more accessible than any early wow expansion.

Log on when you want to play, friends not on, log off. Makes so much sense…to give up.
Having to reschedule your entire life around the chance that your friends will be available when they think they will be is an utter fail for a game.
How is it wrong to want to play with your actual friends rather than treating your friends list as a temp agency?
How can you possibly prove that what he is feeling, what his emotional state is, is “objectively false”. Do you walk around in real life telling people to their faces that they are not actually feeling what they think they feel, because you know better than they do what they have been going through?
You think you do but you don’t. Gee, are you a dev?

last time i had friends in an mmo is in swg. i still play the emulator and there is still more friendly banter or comms in that game in 30 seconds there than in 30 weeks of wow.
game designers sold out for $

lol, says the 33 lock. I’m ilvl 251. Tell me how I am supposed to progress my character in 9.2?
BFA last patch had real gear progression from world content (invasions), real gear pathing through unrated PvP, real gear through Horrific visions, mission table gear/currency providing real upgrades, and the usual raid and M+ dungeon paths.
SL has raiding, rated PvP, or M+. Explain how that’s objectively more accessible progression for average players?

How you play is of no consequence to me. How I play should be of no consequence to you. What I am addressing is you constantly claiming this perspective of, WoW is for friend groups, if someone isn’t happy they just need more friends. This may be true in some cases. It definitely isn’t true in many cases. And even so, where the heck ya gonna find WoW friends when retail has 1 server with 200 people online?
I’ve lived through this stage of an MMO’s life many times, we’re at an extremely critical time in WoW’s history, a make or break era. If Blizzard can’t recapture some of those 13 million lost customers, or find some new customers, once that population curve is pointing straight down it never comes back. We’re already over that edge. We needed the shackles off before 9.0.5, and they’re still doubling down on the most dire problems. This isn’t crying about the problem, I really don’t care that much. If WoW goes, I have to pick a new secondary MMO between ESO or hopefully Riot gets theirs up before then. I don’t want WoW die hards to die on their echo chamber hill.
The problems with WoW are really not that hard to solve, Blizz just wont touch them. Personally I think they would have seen population growth if 9.0.5 valor was done right, but it was the most botched system launch in MMO history. Blizz has really earned their forum being crapped up with people complaining about stuff.

If you don’t have a legendary you’re useless.
Not everyone wants to do Torghost or even go into the damn Maw.

that has to be one of the worst and craziest statements i have ever read on these forums. and this is general so imagine some of the statements.
you sound like “oh hey bai you and kids can f off and starve for all i care because i am quitting my job and getting on other peoples schedules so i can gear” i think you need to go to bed giving advice like that.

Just do the same thing you did this patch, next patch.
You didn’t get 251ilvl from korthia or WQs,
What’s changed in 9.2 that is of any consequence?
I’m guessing you did m+ for vault, so just do that again?
