Hey guys,

Since we have grown very quickly, we have created a Raid Census form whereby aspiring raiders can fill out their desired roles and hold a soft “reservation” on a Tuesday raid slot when we begin officially raiding 3-4 months after launch (this is a moderate tempo of about 2-2.5 hours per day, 9 days total /played to 60). This reservation list serves two purposes: it protects current guildies from the pressure of competition as the guild grows (which allows us to achieve our stated goals of enjoying the game in a friendly and active community, while leveling at a less pressured pace), and it gives newcomers into the guild clear and upfront information as to where they stand in the raid roster. That said, if a player hasn’t reached 60 by the 3-4 month mark, then their raid slot will be vacated. Many guilds will be intentionally overrecruiting for Classic knowing that not all of their raiders will make it to 60. A player might join a guild that lacks our same transparency and still find themselves on the outside looking in. We feel that this system allows us to achieve our goals, protect our players, and also be as upfront and clear as possible with any newcomers.

Update:

The guild’s prospective raiders have been filling out a Raid Census Form. This form is organized chronologically and basically acts as a priority placeholder or soft reservation of a raid slot for our initial raids. This is done so as to assure our players that they can enjoy the leveling experience without worrying that they will be replaced if they aren’t fast enough. Many guilds are intentionally overrecruiting for Classic, knowing that some players will inevitably not make it to 60 and need to be replaced. I would rather be upfront and honest to new raiding recruits with where they stand on the roster.

That said, we have just hit the 40 man mark on our raiding roster. I’ve done this long enough to know that it is very unlikely that all 40 will be with us when it’s time to start officially raiding 3-4 months down the road. Despite everyone’s best intentions, life happens. So don’t be discouraged from applying because the roster is “full.” It is quite likely that a few of those spots open up.

If you are a casual player not interested in raiding, then we would also love to have you aboard. We will consist of a very diverse group of players from some very hardcore PvPers to some brand new to WoW. If you feel like you fit with our more relaxed vision of Classic WoW, just shoot me a message.

Update #2: We have a raiding roster census that now contains 50 entries for the Tuesday night group. For the moment, we will slow down on recruiting the Tuesday night group. We will still, however, run a semi-guild/semi-PUG group on Saturday evenings. If you would like to raid more casually on Saturdays, keep us in mind. Also, we are looking for any players who are not particularly drawn or able to raid, but who just want to be part of a helpful and welcoming team as part of their core experience.

Good luck! I personally think it’s better to choose the server with a higher likelihood of a healthy long-term population, but I can understand wanting to enjoy the launch experience without massive queues. We shall see tomorrow! Happy hunting!
