Hope Returns

Hi.

Hope returns…

Blizzard, some thoughts, in summary form.

  • Cross-faction guild ability is a MUST and ASAP! Cross-faction limitations should be a top priority to overcome
  • Opt-IN allowance where there’s planned Opt-Out defaults should at least be considered
  • With Instanced Cross-faction play, another consideration is how to address Cross-Faction questing. The quick fix option, to just allow CFQ, seems… to have no play substance. Instead, please consider a quest line for each faction that allows a player of the other faction to, upon completion of said quest line, ADD the other faction and its quests as options? Now I know this would be hard, and some players might not be too happy with it. However, IF DONE RIGHT, this could be huge as it would open up the other half of the game for players to enjoy. And that adds to content to consume, which is good.

This is why slippery slope isn’t always a fallacy.

Factions will be gone within 4 years. And with it, faction-specific encounters, quests, and stories.

In a way, I hope not.

What the factions turn INTO in four years however, THAT I hope to be around to see.

What they turn into? They’re not turning into anything. They’ll just be removed.

You think Blizzard wants to put in the effort to making some sort of story around this? Not a chance. The lore of this game has long since given up the ghost. Nowadays, the motto is don’t fix with story what you can fix with systems.

Didn’t you just say yesterday you’re only here until your sub expires in 2 months because the game is bad to you?

Yes.

And I am still unsubbed.

However there is no denying that the two announcements today are at least a step in the right direction by Blizzard.

I might resub if they keep this up overall.

Apparently that machines have never experienced hope is still a problem.

Faction specific encounters? Like what?
And the only faction specific quests & stories we have are super minor small quest chains.

The Matrix Haiku:

Zion has been freed.
Neo and Trinity died.
Three films, all you need.

Still haven’t seen the fourth.

I don’t plan to either.

I’m sadly not missing anything, am I?

I’m hoping the factions stay but in war mode only.

Guilds and instanced content isn’t a slippery slope.

Good riddance. Blizzard never develops the faction anyways, only rips them apart for a new Neutral faction that’ll never have anything to do with them, or ruins them in faction conflicts.

Blizzard’s utter lack of understanding how to write lore and story both inside and outside of both factions that turns into steadily improving quality content of each is rather glaring right now.

That has been my single biggest complaint since 2005.

The fact that WoW both still has one lore tree since 2004 and that no overall improvement to neither quality nor quantity of substantive lore and story has occurred since is … yikes.

I think cross-faction pugging is enough. I don’t want alliance in my horde guild. There are hardly any alliance on my server anyway.

Even when, most likely, cross faction guilds become a thing, simply don’t invite any Alliance into the guild.

And, with the hardly any Alliance, now that Cross Faction instanced content is a thing, and being improved, more players may go back to the A side simply because they don’t HAVE to be Horde just to raid and above, etc.
