Hooktail nerf PLEASE

That boss is absolutely unreasonable in comparison to every other dungeon boss this season. I played in SLs, and that boss was fine. idk what they changed now, but its a nightmare. in Sls, if u happened to miss a frontal once, its fine, still manageable. now, if u miss 1 add with a single frontal, its pure chaos. the MS ramps too fast. YES i know you can cc. but not every class has the easily available mass cc’s to handle it. the group completely destroys pugs. and considering pugs is how the vast majority of players interact with dungeons, thats awful.

nerf it.

Yeah this boss’ difficulty is HIDEOUSLY disproportionate to everything else in the dungeon pool, probably for the entire expansion.

Like Im all for a challenge but this boss is insanely difficult relative to everything around it.

Have you tried doing the mechanics correctly? If you do that you’ll never be low on space due to lava pools, and adds will never be an issue.

No, you have to rely on the entire group doing mechanics perfectly. I get what youre saying, but I dont think lying is helpful.

This boss and most of this dungeon in general, are really unforgiving compared to the rest of the dungeon pool. Even at low keys you can wipe easily if you make small mistakes or lose a member. Other dungeons aren’t really like that.

Not perfectly, but they have to do mechanics somewhat correctly, as with pretty much every boss.

If people, for example, don’t soak on last boss in HoA you also wipe. It’s a group effort.

tank drags boss to wall and turns it

dps and healer smash it (no tail mechanic anymore)

fire circles spawn, group and tank move along wall, rinse, repeat and win

Uhuh, and melee spend half the fight unable to hit the boss standing in puddles. Good tips, thanks.

A quick note, for anyone unaware - the dispellable debuff does ramping damage to you as it stacks however it also gives that player a haste buff (ideally allowing you to kill the boss faster) so if you have externals or defensive buttons to use I’d reccomend milking that as long as you can live it before dispelling.

** Timecap’n Hooktail attaches Time Bombs to 2 players increasing their haste by 30% but also inflicting 727335 Arcane damage every 1 sec for 30 sec. Time Bomb’s damage is increased by 10% every time it inflicts damage.
Upon removal a Temporal Detonation is unleashed inflicting 1818337 Arcane damage to all players.** via wowhead written by someone with a human brain vs my bro science for reference :laughing:

if that’s happening, the tank is still not doing the job correctly or you have a group that isn’t stacking (that’s usually the problem).

TBF – DH’s have this boss kinda easy b/c we can cc the mobs from range so they are easily blasted down with the frontal.

Most of the issues I’ve had with this place are dps refusing to stack up during the fight so the puddles end up all over the place.

i play outlaw and havoc and have not encountered this issue at all. it sounds like your tank is doing a bad job.

dps/healer stack together and move together, the boss should be near dead by the end of moving along the wall, puddles shouldn’t be a problem unless someone moves early

It isn’t hard if people follow the strat, but it is less forgiving of mistakes than most other bosses.

that’s really it. if people panic and run around randomly, it gets much harder very quickly.

ok, so let me get the thread back on point here, because this has turned into a pile of “learn the strat 4head” garbo.

the point of this is not “idk strat. boss 2 hard”. its “boss is too hard BECAUSE doing the strat still allows for 0 mistakes”. mistakes happen. and on that boss in particular, the happen WAY more often then most, because a very minor misposition from 1 single person, sets off a domino effect cuz of the fire puddles. THEN if the tank isnt able to hit every single mob 1st shot because of said mistake, its near unrecoverable because the add just goes super sonic. idc how many “git gud” ppl try to say the boss is easy with the strat, every single one of them has had this exact scenario happen and brick their key.

so 1 minor mistake, which is VERY easy for anyone to make, can derail the entire key cuz of this boss. compare it to the very next boss. ANY mistake is recoverable. someone misses a line on the intermission? massive defensives/cds and get it the second time. tank tanks ina bad spot? recoverable. yes, any mistake CAN wipe you on So’leah, but the difference is they are more or less easily recoverable. hooktail, not so much. same comparison can be made for basically any dungeon boss this season.
