Honorable and Holy Forsaken

I mainly play on Moon Guard. As you all know, that is primarily the place to go for Alliance role play. While I am fine with that, I was wondering if there are any holy orders for Forsaken characters? Sounds silly, I know, but there are a few holy characters out there that are Forsaken. The second Forsaken can become paladins, I’m definitely rolling one. For now, is this something taboo? Are there any players out there that have Forsaken characters that worship the light or used to and revere it? Would I be a major outcast if my Forsaken was a “good guy”? Thought I might dip my toes into the Horde side for a bit since it is the side I started with years ago.

I just really love the light, so. We’ll see.

Hi! I wouldn’t say you’d be a major outcast at all. Sarestha here is a Sir-Zeliek-esque Death Knight - a former Paladin who retained faith in and use of the Light, even after her death! I’ve never felt maligned from the Forsaken community as a result of that, rather I used to participate a fair bit in community events (less so of late due to IRL considerations).

You might not fit into every Forsaken guild, and you might get a few IC reactions of incredulity, but OOC the Forsaken community here is great and fun. I’m sure you’ll fit in just fine.

Oh that sounds cool. I’ve had an idea for a Forsaken character that adheres more towards the light but I wasn’t sure how well that would go over. I know elitists are out there. I don’t know much about Wyrmrest’s community, though.

Doesn’t sound silly; sounds like something that could lead to amazing RP.

Former devotee of the light, reborn as Forsaken, possibly feeling hopelessly abandoned by the light and fighting to retain their faith in it?

This gives me ideas.

Welcome to WRA OP! Hope you find what you seek here!

Thanks! I’m glad to see the idea isn’t too crazy or, maybe not “offensive”, but not unsavory. I just wasn’t sure how the community was. I really enjoy world role play and walk-ups, but that isn’t much of a big deal here, so I thought I’d step into Wyrmrest. Thanks for the welcome Norman!

I think the Forsaken lore is kind of all over the place at the moment. Their loyalty to the Banshee Queen and her dark mission was kind of their whole thing for a long time and now they’re ruled over by Dead Girl Anduin, so there’s a lot of room for different types of Forsaken.

That said, the Undead community of WrA has always been pretty laissez-faire. It’s not like Orcs or Elves where there are some hardliners who think there are specific ways Orcs and Elves need to act–the Forsaken tend not to oppose others with different ideas how to be Forsaken.

They just don’t tend to play with people they don’t like (like most people), so that’s another kettle of fish.

If you follow the Light, you’re not true Forsaken. That’s right. I said it. Fite mi.

Well hello there! May I interest you iiiiiin Duskwood? Thomas might not be Forsaken but he’s a ghost that learned how to use the Light, that’s kind of similar right? I’m very excited for War Within and the Light infused undead we’re getting, new undead lore!

Honestly it makes a lot of sense because Lordaeron was the most religious of the human Kingdoms, and the Forsaken are overwhelmingly Lordaeronian.

That’s where my inspiration for Sarestha came from, tbh. It’s rare and unusual to see such a total culture shift, even in the face of great suffering. I had this concept of an ex Paladin, who’d always wanted to be a Paladin, fundamentally unready to let go of her deeply held personal beliefs and dreams just because she came down with a sudden case of death.

Of course she’s also got a bit of a crusader mindset, and tends to devote herself deeply to the cause. Which led to fascinating tension when forced to choose between loyalty to her Queen, the Dark Lady, and the Three Virtues of the Light (Respect, Tenacity and Compassion). Had fun with that in BFA xD

My point is that Forsaken history is multifaceted, and the Light is a significant part of their backstory that should not be devoid of consideration. It makes sense that many would reject it outright when its warmth turned to pain. It also makes sense that many would cling to it in desperate hope, inamongst the darkest of trials and suffering. Yet others might reject its use and seek other powers to wield, but not entirely let go of the theoretical side of the faith, a bit like the Broken Draenei who often still believe in the Light even as they cannot reach it, wielding the elements instead.

It’s a plot point worth considering how to respond to, based on the backstory of Lordaeron. But it’s a bit silly to assume literally every Forsaken would reject the Light outright, even if the majority choose to do so.

Well, I do love some Duskwood. Like, a lot. You have my attention sir.

Aren’t all forsaken a little hole-y? I mean, look at the decay on some of em!

After much pondering, I really don’t think that eating a nutritious breakfast first thing in the morning would do absolutely any good for Foresaken. They’d just be standing there all hunched over in a puddle of coffee and unmasticated eggs.

Cheers.

My priest is a holy and shadow magic using undead, though I lean more into the discipline spec concept and the shadow magic she does use are things like mind control or mind altering spells. She doesn’t dabble in the spoopy.

Her concept is influenced by Lucrezia Borgia/Pope Alexander VI and she comes from a background that is heavily entrenched in the church but marred by corruption.
