So let’s say a young rookie golfer is playing someone like Tiger Woods and all the top golfers in the US Open. Do they go into separate brackets in the US Open? Obviously, the player with more experience has an advantage over the rookie right?
That is the nature of any competitive sport or game. Sometimes those rookies become better players than the experienced person. That happens too. Your debate is a wee bit off I’m afraid.
Yeah, I understand coming up against premade groups that are experienced is a pain. We’ve all been worked over by those experienced or not, and that is coming from experience.

I like this. When playing ball at the park, if there are two great players present we usually have them on separate teams.
Just makes for better competition.
No relation to honor levels, which mean 0 imo.

You’d think so. I’m sure even in your everyday life you come across people where you could apply this train of thought only for it to be defied.

Just like with anything, you can practice for hundreds or thousands of hours but if you are not practicing correctly you aren’t actually going to get better. I’ve seen plenty of people with high honor level that make classic mistakes in PvP, mistakes they probably make and have made the entire time they’ve been playing. If they never actually try to play correctly, they are still gonna be bad.

The amount of gaslighting and misdirection this forum imposes on people is astounding.
OP is clearly new to the game, doesn’t really know how to quantify the players in a way that will appease the masses and the Oompa Loompa squad go on a 40 post misdirect completely derailing the thread and it’s intention.
OP, was it an ally Proudmoore premade? Proudmoore is notorious for lopsiding random BGs pretty much all day every day. They are the red-headed step-child of Tich and Sarg’s double-fisted stranglehold of toxicity and they likely will never stop. Best thing you can do is pause queuing for ten mins and then start up again to get out of their rotation because while it can be super annoying and the current rules for premades don’t really work anymore, they’re not doing anything wrong technically - even if it may feel that way.
As for basing skill on honor level - it’s not a perfect connection but if we are talking random BGs it’s not terrible. If someone is honor level 800+ there’s no assumption that they are R1/glad, but it would be almost impossible to not passively get better at something you do hundreds (thousands) of times.
Keep your chin up and keep plugging away and above all else, consider this place to be borderline useless for actual constructive conversation or feedback.

Premades circumventing matchmaking restrictions by queuing multiple groups simtuaenously and getting 20-40 people into the same battleground is rather detrimental to the enjoyment of the average casual player but has nothing to do with honor level.

Oh, cry me a river. The replies have been helpful and on the money. What else can we say? Premades are a fact of life for everyone in the game, honor level or not. We all started at the low end of the totem pole. I’m still there ha ha.
don’t mistake a general trend with a fundamental law of the universe. just because a rule of thumb isn’t a hard rule, that doesn’t mean its an invalid rule. trying to argue against something that is true 99% of the time just makes you look insecure about your honor level and sad.

why does it matter the honor level of the player sending you to the gy? even in the under hl 30 bracket there are players who get over 290 ilvl by hl 20. at hl 28/29 they’re max conquest geared and it didn’t happen in random bgs. put in the work and until then hush. you learn the game by playing it not complaining about it on the forums.
We’res your evidence to prove its 99% true that doesn’t only involve your own experience?
My honor level is higher than yours like do the remaining braincells left over not rub against each other hard enough to create enough thinking power before committing replies?
Oh wait, does my honor level being higher than yours means my opinion also holds more weight?
it means i wouldn’t assume an honor level 20 to be better than you unless proven otherwise. in fact unless proven otherwise on each individual case, i would always assume you would win in a fight vs a hlvl 20.
compared to the playerbase as a whole, just having an honor level in the hundreds at all puts you above like 99% of the playerbase. we only see the full time pvpers because we are in our own pool.
You didn’t provide me evidence to support the statistic you introduced into this thread.
?
Then why wouldn’t we just keep rating for gear? Those with higher rating are just gonna be better than those without it and those who are truely worthy of the ‘insert higher metric number here’ will eventually get it. So why change it?
See how dumb your logic is when you remove the variables that are ‘human beings’.
It’s honestly deplorable that you don’t actually understand how dumb this comment is.
Again, using your logic, anybody with 200+ honor levels is automatically better or ‘assumed to be better’ that 99% of the player base; which could include
World first Raiders
0.01% of Mythic Plus players
Just an example to further prove how deprived of logic your opinion is; anybody who PvPs outside of retail whether it be private servers or classic.
yup honor level has so much weight yup
i bet you paid a pretty penny for that 47th chromo
I’d assume the World first Raiders, 0.01% of Mythic Plus players and 2400+ rated players would be in the 1% here.
The problem isn’t their honor level, it’s probably that they out gear most people and are all in coms as well. Like others have said Honor Level just means you spam a lot of PvP. I mean I am honor level 600 and a lifetime 1800 player so ya. But their are also people who got a lot of honor levels not pvping too. Because there was a way to do that. Not sure if that is still a thing but it was.
Have they, though?
Everyone is talking about honor level relative to skill and not gear. A high honor level player than doesn’t do any rated pvp might be a good player but if undergeared they are undergeared.
A low honor level player might do a lot of rated and are geared.
Gear is a far greater factor in random BGs than honor levels, good player or not.

But you are good at BGs, which is not the same type of pvp as arena. There is more difference between the two formats of pvp than there is in common. That is true even when comparing rated BGs with random BGs. There is more in common, of course… but they are still quite different in how they are played and you are far more dependent on your team for favorable outcomes.

In regular BGs if one team has an overall much higher honor level than the other team they also have a much higher probability of winning. That doesn’t mean it is always a win though.
For example every time I enter a regular BG I sort the scoreboard by honor level. If it is a 10 person BG and the top 5-7 honor levels are alliance it is most likely they will win. If it is a fairly even mix then it is a toss up.
Start sorting by honor levels when you enter a small BG. When you see one team heavily lopsided to the top with honor levels that team will win the majority of the time. This doesn’t seem to hold true for Epics as much as smaller BGs though in my experience.
The only proof I have is 20k+ BGs and watching this trend everyday in them.

Omfg thank you so much. Yes, it was a premade group from Tich all in the same guild. I just got my partner into WoW pvp (who is really into other pvp games) and this happening really soured him on WoW pvp because it’s definitely not how many pvp games group people up as. And thank you so much for acknowledging the shenanigans happening in this thread. I swear, some people just make arguing on the internet into their hobby.
after further research( 3 more random bgs) it seems something is amiss with the honor level seperation. in one of the games 2 players over hl 30 were in a bg last night and both happened to be invokers.
they lost pretty hard but still.
im chalking this up to one more thing broken during a pre-patch.
