Just got back into pvp and grinding some honor and conquest for DF, been having a lot of fun but… some nights guilds do runs and just slaughter Horde over and over again until they’re camping us. It’s really nuts to me that WoW lets honor level 800+ players play with people who are all under honor level 100 (most of us are 1-25).
Further explanation:
Also, I just want to note that even though I disagree with the comments here, I really appreciate the encouraging words and hospitable environment. Thanks for making a newbie pvper feel welcome here.

Honor lvl doesnt really correlate skill at all. Some of the worst players are the ones who have 750+ honor lvl because randoms is all they do.

I’ve seen that too. But, there are definitely guilds that team up and all have high honor level and completely outgear / outplay everyone on the field. It just isn’t fun because there is no way for you to win.

Honor level can just be from existing in battlegrounds.
I’ll see this one person that’s like honor 1400 with no legendary and they’ll just kind of stand around barely doing damage and healing before walking in and dying. They aren’t a bot, but they offer little to no positive contribution.

unless something changed in the last 4 days bgs at 60 are separated by honor level and the cut off is 30.
if you and your friends are getting into bgs with players over hl 30 that means someone in your group is also over hl 30 and you’re all being placed into the 30+ bracket.

Initially I was against you, but then thinking about it… botting is a thing and alot of the 600+ bar a few are actually really bad at pvp in general.

Playing arena doesn’t give much honor. Generally, the players who have game-breaking mechanics mostly play arena. So they’re seldom all that high honor level.
Don’t get discouraged when you get defeated by a high honor level player because the skill level he has is probably achievable. It just takes time.
Or you could roll a demon hunter and skip that learning process.

Honor level isn’t a good indicator of how good a player is but they’re generally better players due to experience. Sometimes I see arena players with glad titles come into bgs and who run around like lost little puppies and get gy camped…but I don’t assume every glad is bad because I saw one once who was. I assume they’re good until I see otherwise because they’re generally better players.
Anyway, the point of all of this is you can just roll a demon hunter and skip that learning process.

I’m honor level 6 or 7, my partner is honor level 1-2. We were put in a battleground of at least 4-5 honor level 800+ players who constantly killed everyone and camped graveyards. This is also not a one time occurrence. This has happened at least 6 times to me in the last 2 weeks.
The same can happen from people at the same honor level as you.
As people have said, honor level quite literally means nothing.
There’s no reason to make a correlation between enemy honor level and you being farmed in the GY for X amount of time.
Honor level means better gear and more time practicing bgs, does it not? Would it be better if I said bgs should regulate what groups get together in terms of ilvl range?
Honor level has nothing to do with gear.
Typically yes however you can get honor levels by being in a vehicle for an entire game or just being in range of a kill.
No. BGs are BGs. They’re random and casual. If you want something with perameters restricting what you can queue into, play rated.
sounds like a charming fellow

so, like i already said: random bgs are still separated by honor level at 60. the ONLY way you’re facing players honor level 30+ is in korraks or rated stuff. Or you’re grouping with someone over hl 30.
its not them its you.
This is true, but could they have adjusted the matchmaking in cases when the entry Honor Level side does not have ample players in queue?

This happened in Eye of the Storm, WSG, Battle of Gilneas, and the minecart BG. Are you saying I’m grouping with someone hl 30+ without knowing it? (Like WoW is putting me in a group with them?) Because my partner just started pvp a couple days ago and has hl 1-2.
They must have because I’ve seen this on several cases. Is there supposed to be an hl or ilvl restriction for groups? It feels like it should be (which is what this post is about).
I mean… I need to do bgs to gear for rated. Also, if they’re meant to be casual, then why not have some restrictions to class groups so they can play against similar ilvl / rank players? There is nothing casual about being farmed for hours when youre trying to do a casual bg.
There’s nothing casual about implementing restrictions for ‘competition’
No doubt the gear system is abysmal.
Honestly it might just be a good thing to have experience on why the changes that have been made for the next expansion. PVP in general is in a wonky state, let it be gear gaps/power/classes/specs which have added to it all.
Lots of time to do research on what is to come and how exactly to be prepared for it in the next weeks ahead.
