Are there any rewards at that point? How would you even get that? Honor levels take forever to grind out.

If I recall correctly, there was a good way to get a ton of levels once they merged honor levels across your account. Happened sometime in Legion or shortly after it, I believe.
Still, 1500+ is literally “glued to chair” levels of time spent.

I remember that. Even still, the highest I’ve seen was 800ish.
1500 is insane. I’m barely 125 
Play battlegrounds every day and do weekly quests on multiple characters. You also get the Enlistment Bonus buff for playing the less popular faction (currently Horde). Mercenary mode doesn’t grant this buff.
Honor was also especially plentiful during Shadowlands Season 3/4, so people who were active during that time got a decent boost.

Be on the faction with honor bonus and exclusively bg in WoW for 4 years while winning 80% of your games
People low honor level/high games played are typically sync Qers

since legion still had the “prestige” system in place every prestige a player would do would = 5 honor levels with a max prestige of 25.
Early in legion blizzard made a error with the murloc pvp quest that gave too much honor, and allowed players to prestige very quickly in a short manner of time across multiple characters.
Depending on alt’s too you can get a lot of honor in legion by simply doing world quests daily, which was popular since you had the followers that awarded 150g for every world quest completed.

I’m almost 1500 honor level but I play with this massive nerd whos 2500 honor level
I also play with this massive nerd who has an entire bank tab full of marks of honor (it’s the same nerd, but I was going for dramatic effect)
Each stack is 1000 …

Legion wpvp quests done with several chars gave hundreds of honor levels when they changed the system, thats a major reason hwo soo any by bfa already had 700 or so honor levels.
1,4k is still the ultimate neckbeard dedication.
