I was doing the whole Jelly run in Stormsong Valley on my fairly newish toon today (which is the one Alliance toon I have which completed the questline) and the event appeared. I went along to participate and someone whispered me to stop attacking.
So I got bit confused. Are there some sorts of requirements regarding strength or ability for this fight? Is there something that is required to be done (or not done) depending on your ilevel or aoe or whatever?
I did look but couldn’t see anything on youtube (and if someone does have a definitive guide they could make there, it would probably help) but in the short term if someone could fill me in on the methodology so I don’t wreck anything, I’d appreciate it.
You want to call out the events, and not start them until there are a lot of people. They last 5 minutes, and the more people…the better the results. I’m probably not explaining it the best, but that’s just what I’ve observed while there. I never touch them, only call them out [and then wait].

Im not so much talking about starting them (which I never have) but during the actual fighting.
Oh I guess I misunderstood! I’ll let someone else answer, as I’m not sure.
It’s kind of like your favorite show, you don’t watch it before you’ve read all the spoilers.
if your dps is bad/low, you are essentially adding more health to the boss than you are taking away, making the event harder.
frankly, I think the events are tuned too tightly for open-world events with truly random people.
this isn’t necessarily the case.
It’s not the number of people, it’s the amount of damage each person does.

Ah, that would make sense. So if I perhaps just wait until the last one and then just tap it as it is almost dead, that would be better?
yes! this is exactly what players should do if they don’t have a lot of gear.
(back again to, blizz tuned these too high. players in world quest/leveling gear should have an expectation - or even a chance - of success).

Excellent, thanks. I certainly don’t want to create a situation where it runs away because it has hit some sort of timer.

Not just the events. The Honey Smasher has a ridiculous amount of HP. I guess they planned for several dozen people to attack him at once.

The mobs in the trash waves ramp up in strength and stamina depending on how many players tag them. There’s a train of thought that unless you’re 400 ilevel or higher you’re actually a hindrance and you should just tag the elites.
As much as this does make sense, there are other rares/bosses that appear during the waves and drop rep items so I wouldn’t reccomend this if you want to be able to loot those also . Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
If you have bad gear (<400) or low dps don’t attack anything that isn’t a rare. Every person that tags a mob adds potentially millions more HP. I’ve had events that were going really well until the 10th wave when the second elite spawned, everyone hit it and the HP jumped up over 50,000,000, there was no way to get it down (in time) and the subsequent mobs to kill the guaranteed 15th wave rare.

good info there in the guide. also i have a link to wago there that is a weak aura (see twitch: weak auras 2) for the event. currently lf the trigger for bee event eligiblity
These events are , for whatever reason, high ilvl demanding. They seem more fit to raids than to open world.
Thing is, you need a somewhat fullish raid of people, and the best way to do it is let only the high dps hit most waves. Those of low or even average dps only hit the silver rare to loot.

Theres also how the Ettin rare becomes a raid boss when a lot of people hit him… such a ridiculous amount of hp…
That and any rares, hit the rares because they drop a 750 rep item to turn in. Basically you can go for the bosses but leave the trash waves alone, most players that is what they want low DPS to do. If you don’t hit the elites and rare bosses and do at least some level of damage you won’t get anything so it’s a bit of a judgement call.
That is what I do on my alt.
I went and talked to a Honeyback Harvester. Someone immediately whispered me and called me a “F*cking Idiot”. Apparently I’d violated some kind of procedure or etiquette that I was not previously aware of. Didn’t realize there were a bunch of rules regarding this event.
I could probably learn them and “do better next time”, but…screw it. That kind of aggression soured me on even trying shrug
Guess you’ve got to learn the rules and proper procedures, if you want to participate in this particular event, lest people jump your sh*t.
hey listridia,
dont get discouraged. the issue is it’s been out a while and a lot don’t realize iuts possible to not know it. read up here: https://www.wowhead.com/guides/honeyback-hive-reputation-bee-mount-rewards
when i was still doing it i would whisper “please stop trolling, and if new, please request i explain what you did wrong”
i found i would be requested half the time and told off half the time. i know i could do better, but there woudl be enough asking that if people paid attention in /genereal then… but now i doubt that is the case. still there are trolls that ruin it for new people like you. be better and ask them to explain themselves instead of being an a$$h0le.
