You attack with fists, every time I get a 1handed weapon I Never see it in action
Fists weapons though, you see them in action all the time when attacking
Made sense during Legion too when their Artifact was fist weapons
Don’t see any reason a monk uses 1 handed weapons
Personally when I’m playing on ww monk I like having the weapons on my back like stat sticks while using bare fists. I think you should just be able to mog between them
If fist weapons was the only ones a WW monk could use that would severely restrict loot availability. By having them able to use other one handers your chances for a useful weapon drop are greater.
That would be a gearing pain though being restricted to just fist drops.
But you can mog all one-hands with fists. So it really doesn’t matter anymore, everyone can go with whatever style they prefer.
I only use fist weapons (mogged) on my shammy since weapons on a dwarf look awkward.

In Pandaria lore, Monks developed a weaponless fighting technique because the Mogu kept them from having weapons. So true Monks should not use weapons at all. If Monks are allowed weapons, they should be used in every attack, just like Chen did in the MoP cinematic. To combine unarmed attacks with weapon attacks is ridiculous.
It would be nice if they would swat things with them like they used to though.
As WW, I transmog my weapons to the invisible fist weapons, so I actually so attack with my fists.
I like the weps on the back, it is very nice. The only reason I don’t use fist weps is they clip through your legs, I hate it!
I think the obvious solution is to bring back jab.
I usually just transmog my weapons to those monk-specific wraps sold at the monastery (invisible look), but I wish you could actually fight with weapons. Shaolin monks actually use swords, for example.
I remember this being a thing when Monks came out. Jab, which no longer exists, would change to a weapon strike depending on what you had equipped. To me it makes no sense for Monks to use weapons at all, but some people wanted to see their weapons in action. I think its best as it is now, you use your fist weapons, but everything else stays on your back.
I use my weapons xmogged to dual light sabers on my monk. Kind of a, hey, I have these awesome laser swords, but, that wouldn’t be sporting so Im just gonna beat ya senseless the old fashioned way.
When I was a young man living in Japan the guy that taught me to use a katana taught me many other things too. If I get the chance to but-stroke you with the hilt I will, if I get the chance to elbow you in the throat, I will. I am the weapon, not the sword.
Jab needs to return honestly.
