Sure, some parts of it are pretty cool and all but lets be honest with ourselves.
WoW has always been a Sunday morning cartoon with regards to its story. Some of yall take it way too seriously.
I’ve seen this play out time and time again. Every new patch is the worst patch, every new story development is the worst development. Sure, some were bad, but more often than not it’s complete overexaggeration.
Chill. It’s been an awful year and half, no need to blow up on the forums because Sylvanas got her soul back. (As if that’s a redemption).

i dont play for the lore but having a somewhat interesting/beliveable story would be nice for a change. Also their endless cliff hangers are super annoying at this point and they hyped this as something that would change everything

They either just don’t see whats really going on with the story or just want their favorite twitch streamer have their desired outcome for WoW’s story to happen.

People like to get attached to the narrative games build up. They help hook people in, they give meaning, they give fantasy, they set the environment, justify choices among other things.
It’s an mmorpg and people like to have some of that rpg, and they find it in different ways. and thats ok.

It would also be cool to have twists that are more, uh, twistier than the stuff you’d see in Scooby-Doo.

I think the story is fun!
Cant always go the way you want it to go. Cant always get what you want.
I think some people get too invested in the role playing part of the game to the point they forget they arent really living on azeroth

I mean, FF14 manages to have a good story, why can’t WoW do the same?
Oh right, because they are lazy and expect us to pay for it.

There is little redeemable about Final Fantasy. If you love it so much, go over there and stay in it. I’m tired of hearing people babble on about Final fanservicve 14 when it has worse monetization than WoW with an even worse community. The bar to be better than WoW’s community is on the floor, yet somehow they’ve tunneled under it.

Lul. I already have.
And so have many others. But yeah keep pushing people away from wow, that totally addresses the original point that the story is garbage these days.
Lastly, the community is definitely way better over there. I mean, I never have to hear “iF yOu DoNt LiKe It, LeAvE” when I’m playing that game, mostly because no one is actually complaining about ff14. Not to mention, wow players are notoriously the worst online community in any game. Your post summarizes that attitude perfectly.

For whatever its worth: It’s because I’ve been a giant fan of the Warcraft franchise since Orcs and Humans.
When Warcraft 2 came out, I made a bunch of fan-fiction puds (the file name of the maps generated by the map editor) and I played the heck out of that game with friends of mine and over Kali (dating myself here).
I’ve watched the franchise evolve from Warcraft 2, to Warcraft 3, to World of Warcraft and all of it’s expansions. I’ve read all of the books and have seen the kind of stories that can be told when writers are given the space to do so.
Feel free to dismiss other people if you’d like, but some of us have a strong emotional attachment to the franchise and its characters.

cause they are forced not to only reason just as bad as shown in the last few days and most people playing actually agree all they say is glad square forces it lol. get out of here they been all kinds of toxic the last few days. and if you say anything bad about the game full blown toxicity is the norm i been there forever get out here with lies.
I mean, what part of I already have did you not comprehend?
Enjoy your sinking ship of a game in the meantime. Eventually you’ll have no one left to tell to leave.

I played through BFA when apparently everything was ending. Strange how the game never died.
I’m old. The discourse around this patch is the same stuff different month.
I’ve literally never dealt with a toxic person playing ff14.
I have lost count of all the toxic people I’ve had to deal with in wow’s history, I just expect it these days. If you’re going to make the case that WoW players aren’t toxic, there is literally zero point in arguing with you.
Guess you missed the whole “41% of players leaving shadowlands” after its first month.
Or the fact that classic/TBC gets more views on twitch than retail, regularly.
Or the fact that FF14 keeps having record subscribers every year, and its still growing. While WoW’s are shrinking.
When you remove your head from the hole in the ground you might someday see it. Though, my guess is probably not.

Got a source for that?
Also, y’know. If you meet one toxic person, it’s whatever. If you keep running into toxic people however… you know how that saying goes.
