Cause there will be a day where Blizzard/Activision finally decided to shut down WoW for good and we will all stand at Stormwind/Orgrimmar/major hub for that expansion and do what people did in their final moments of wildstar
“But there’s classic Lul” some would say
Yeah but by then it would be Classic Cataclysm or MoP, and many people during those times HATED those expansions at content
One of Cataclysms flop was they hardcore the dungeons and raid at content, casuals asked for it to be nerfed and Blizzard said “lul get gud”
So they left, then they nerfed them, but it was too late
And MoP was “lul Kung Fu Panda”
That’s if Blizzard upgrades classic WoW expansion by expansion. If they don’t well… Not many people want to do 40 man naxx after 500+ times…
Regardless, its better to enjoy what you can before WoW shuts the door for the last time, good and bad memories
It’s not about if/when WoW will “die”. There are MMOs that make hardly any money at all that have been hanging on for years.
It’s about if the game is going to keep getting worse. It’s already not exactly in the best shape ever, and if 8.3 is anything to go by, Slands wont improve it by much. People already have concerns, and while it’s silly to say that “covenants will kill WoW”, it’s not silly to consider that, if not done properly (which, Blizzard hasn’t done much properly with retail WoW lately), it might be another 2 years of “they’ll get back on track in the next expansion”.
WoW is already dead to a lot of people. With each misstep, the day that it’s dead to everyone and the servers shut down becomes less and less of an issue.
I’d absolutely love to continue enjoying this game, that’s exactly why I do voice my concerns and complaints, as well as offer support to those who raise issues I agree with.
I’ve always taken the good with the bad in WoW, obviously nothing is going to appeal to everyone, but recently there’s been a lot more to take, or that I’ve had to take, in order to enjoy the content that I enjoy.
Maybe that’s games and times, and myself changing, but a lot of it I struggle to work out who playing the game benefits or were those changes / additions even made for.
At it’s core the systems introduced into WoW the last two expacs have been great ideas, they were just executed poorly. For me the main problems lie with leadership, it feels as if they lack the knowledge to see into the future when setting forth a plan.
As Korgara says. People have been saying, warning, forseeing over and over again but feedback often ignored. So many of the issues BFA suffered were called far in advance. But they ran head first into it anyway.
Its not about being doom and gloom. Its about wanting Blizzard to be the better that they can be. That they claim they can be.
As an aside… man I miss Wildstar… and City of Heroes… good times.
That game had some of the best player housing I’ve ever seen in an MMORPG. Also the art style, I really liked it. It reminded me of Jak and Daxter / Ratchet and Clank.
I had such high hopes for it. Truly a heart breaker that one…
Fittingly for this thread they fit the example; They had different end game vision than they should have been aiming at, and as such a lot of the game suffered for it… by the time they tried to correct course it was just too far gone.
the funny thing is they try to say its the players fault for the bad direction WoW has taken which is wrong considering the final say was the dev team they were the only ones with the power to change things and most of the time they ignored what the players wanted and it is why things are so dismal now
