Honestly, next Xpac, remove Shroud

Call me crazy but I think Shroud of Concealment is too restricting for Mythic +.

I do think its uses are creative to an extent, but I think that it’s a harmful variant of it. At the moment, “Rogue only” is everywhere in Mythic+. You’re at a clear detriment if your group isn’t running one.

I think class diversity is important, and I think every class having their niche is great. For instance, there’s nothing wrong with Druids/Hunters being more important on Raging weeks for Soothe, for Hunters/Rogues being more important on Skittish weeks for Misdirect/Tricks, or even things like Rogues being good in Tol Dagor (or the appropriate professions).

However at the moment pretty much every group that doesn’t have a Rogue, is asked “why?” And I don’t think that’s right. I think Shroud simply has too much of an effect on the timer, is too impactful.

There is the argument of Invisibility potions, and that’s a fair argument to make, however I’d like to counter with two points. 1) Getting everyone in a pug to have them isn’t easy when people are so used to relying on Rogues. 2) They share a CD with DPS potions, which can end up having a negative effect on your key.

Rogues have Tricks, Sap, Distract, all useful tools. But I think Shroud is just far too strong, and while I don’t think it should be removed this expansion because it’s too late, I think next expansion should be balanced around it being removed.

Invis pots are also weaker than shroud. I would not be able to do the beginning freehold skip with an invis pot. The only reason I am able to do it with shroud is because I am mounted.

This too; very good point

Group invisibility should be a mage thing and it’s “break” should be random. But make it castable in combat, like a group vanish. Would be so fun…

Honestly im not sure it matters. Almost anything you can shroud, you can also just death skip / mass res.

That’s really inefficient for pretty much anything not named Shrine.

  1. Do not think we need to remove things
  2. Pretty sure the dungeons are not created with a shroud in mind

You can 100% complete any key without a shroud. Now, if you are doing like the 20 somethings right now maybe a shroud is quite useful, but I would by no means say necessary.

I am on a somewhat similar level of IO as you, and I almost never have a rogue. 1 of my last 30 keys might have a rogue. I would agree though that Rogues have such a good kit along with DPS that they are the superior choice to a lot of things.

I think that would be a good thing to add as well. Of course, we can’t have this because it would be “too similar to rogue shroud.” RIP Shaman Gust of Wind because its “similar” to Blink (lol its not).

instead of removing it, they should just have a profession item that accomplishes the same thing. It would have to be somewhat worse than rogue shroud though, and I don’t how that would be achieved.

You mention hunters being good for two weeks, I think they might need nerfing as well then since the other classes you named are only good on one week.

So no, shroud is not too strong. The same effect can be gained by using invisibility potions.

Too many other items need to fixed. Shroud is a low priority item.

Brief examples. I mean DKs are good for Sanguine and Reaping, two things, oh boy.

Another fix, that can keep shroud- put more enemies that see through stealth.

Hunters can feign death too.

Yeap. Especially warlocks since we can only move faster by killing ourselves, which breaks invis pots.

Every death is 5 seconds on the timer. Assuming perfect performance it’s a full minute on your timer counting ress time. More if you put your food buff back up. AND it eats a battle ress, unless you’re a night elf and that needs to be nerfed too.

what about using portals when invis - does that break it too ?

no :triumph:

Shroud needs to be addressed, but not taken away. It is really the cornerstone of rogues, and taking it away would outrage a lot of those players. It would be like taking deathgrip away from DK’s.

Yes, please remove Shroud of Concealment. It is literally a game-breaking spell.

the easiest solution would be to put invis potions on their own CD (so it doesn’t use prepot timer) and increase their active invis duration by 1 extra second.
