I was never Kyrian though, that did get nerfed bad. Glad I never played it.
I think with the right legendaries, talents, and what not Rogues will still be a fine class for everything PVP. I would hate to be a Kyrian/Sub FotM player today though.
Having said all of this, I am Necrolord, should I switch covs today?
Necrolord felt so crappy. I was a necrolord and went Kyrian not just for PvP but PvE and felt a lot better. I just want to have the best “overall” covenant for all content and Night Fae is now looking like it could be the best just because of their soulbinds.
Maybe they do maybe they don’t. I would agree that the Kyrian thing was super broken. That needed to go for sure. I think you will find that you will have more time to respond to Rogues for sure. Why don’t you give it time and see?
I’ve been Necrolord since day one; 13% agility on every Symbols/Dance is just incredible. Also you’re buffing your groupmates with 2% mainstat constantly. The bleed isn’t terrible damage either. It’s 3% of my overall in some battles. I don’t run Nightstalker either, right now. Shadow Focus helps with current energy starvation due to 10% haste. Cold blood SHOULD be reduced by Versatility. Percent-health attacks shouldn’t even be in the game.
The only nerf to ME here is Shadow Blades -10%. Pretty sure I’ll live.
Hmmmm can you go into more detail? I don’t wanna switch to Kyrian just for a single stealth burst opener for pve. Necro does feel pretty useless though. Will I be super far behind if I switch covs?
My biggest issue with Necrolord is how bad Fleshcraft was to try to use other than in PvE. Emeni makes the Covenant worthwhile though, and if you don’t like that play style when Bonesmith is out it’s just a constant Agi buff and a nice crit one.
Necro just felt very underwhelming to me pressing a skill for just a buff. It didn’t feel fun.
Honestly none of the covenants feel that fun for me though cause I’m just disappointed in not being able to test them all out fully unlocked and see which feels best at the end game.
I genuinely don’t want this to sound rude but I haven’t the time or inclination to teach you how to play the spec. A google search will answer the majority of your questions. And, just quickly, you have very little time as sub in PvE when you’re not bursting, use it to refresh your maintenance abilities (rupture and SnD) and pool for next dance (maybe wait 1-2sec for symbols etc)
I switched to kyrian over the weekend, wasn’t a painful process at all but Idk if I should go back necro, I liked the mogs better and the abilities weren’t too bad I just switched for a few friends, think it would be worth it to just return to necrolords? I just really didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but if I were to return I’d retain my renown and everything. Not sure what I’m going to do. I did love the emeni tree.
Cold Blood SHOULD be reduced by versatility. Percent-health attacks are bad for the game.
Nightstalker is a 4% nerf. Sizeable if you were running it. I run Shadow Focus until we get more haste. Doesn’t effect me.
Shadow Blades reduced by 10% is also sizeable, but only represents one “go” in the entire match (most matches are sub-3min right now). It’s not the end of the world.
Echoing Reprimand have a guaranteed 9k crit on people with 25k health was clearly freakin’ broken and was obviously going to get gutted. I’ve been Necrolord since day-one it doesn’t effect me.
So… I lost 10% damage on Shadow Blades, an ability that represents less than 3% of my usual damage in PvP. What will we dooooooooooo?
These nerfs selectively crushed the FOTM Kyrian morons running on-use trinkets to global people in trash skirmishes. Good riddance.
I am with you on the emeni tree. I had no idea how useful Lead by Example was until the busy man pointed it out. I used it but didn’t realize how important it is. So you think you going to go back Necro? And I do wish we would keep the renown. I am okay with the 2 week cooldown or whatever it is when switching covenants. But redoing all those quests just seems like a pointless waste of time.
LOL the Kyrian thing was stupid broken. I remember going into arena for the first time this xpac (have not played since MoP), and getting hit with a 12k echoing reprimand on an opener and I thought YEP, that is getting nerfed. which is why I didn’t go Kyrian. I did not want to become reliant on that ability because honestly I would be thinking of switching classes at this point if I had. I feel like there is no reason to use it now in an opener and you would get more out of a shadow strike.
Are you going to drop Cold Blood now? Is Shadowy Duel any good?
I’ll admit i went necrolord for aesthetics first, ultimate form soulbind on the basis that my opener wouldn’t be interrupted second and 100% positive that playing covenants for fotm would be a punishing experience as the nerf roullete rolls.
I feel vindicated being in the seeming minority not going kyrian.
Besides all that, I think the rest of the nerfs are too far, we’re not a spread pressure class that tops damage in BGs or such. We pick a target, deal with it and get out and it’s one shot to do it right. The kyrian ability was way too strong, as biased as i may be, but the rest… too much man.
Oh well. I don’t hate assa but sub is very satisfying as a good player that knows when to trinket can typically counter the burst forcing you to consider reset anyway. For instance, I’ve never felt confident doing an opener on ANY plate dps class as all 3 of them can eat a rogue any time of day if one of their brain lobes functions.
To see all this whining… just man i’m so bummed out.
Cold Blood is fantastic and I still plan on running it but who knows. I’ll have to see the new damage.
Shadowy Duel is SUCH a strong ability but the skill-floor on it is very high. At a steep cost of 50 energy and a highly-coveted PvP-talent slot, I cannot recommend it to newer players. But if you know how to Shadowy Duel it will literally win you matches. Dueling out of a Smoke Bomb for example it almost 12sec of cutting a target off from their healer. With current rogue burst potential, that’s either a kill or forcing every CD in the world. You can also technically use it defensively, which happens seldomly but is crucial to be aware of. Lastly, there is an interaction with Hunter’s Mark and Shadowy Duel that is… spicy…
You reframed it in a way that makes me feel better. I’m dying to run a bg or something to see how it feels, cold blood is fair and shadow blades I agree with what you say.
