Season 3, 2-Set Bonus:
Make this effect default somehow, even if the living flame effectiveness is only 25%. It makes getting essence burst feel much less horrible as it gives empowered spells a chance to provide it beyond Spark of Insight which doesn’t feel nearly as organic.
Emerald Blossom:
Make it do full healing within 10yrds, and reduced healing to allies outside of 10yrds. The ability is cool, but its probably the worst feeling thing about Preservation with how unreliable it feels to hit multiple people, especially in BGs where people can be very spreadout and run out of it while chasing, or in M+ where you have 1 ranged DPS and need to heal everyone.
Reversion:
Limiting the crit-based duration extension to 12 seconds makes the whole extension mechanic feel feel a little contrived and of no real benefit. You have to get lucky or stack crit just to have a normal duration HoT. The contingent extension effect should allow it to last longer than other specs HoTs, it shouldn’t barely break even at its maximum.
Stasis:
The fully stacked effect should be indefinite like the effect is while stacking. Having a 30 second window to use the stored spells isn’t very stasis-y, and it just leads to the effect feeling bad and rarely aligning in a useful way.
Time Dilation:
Useful, but isn’t actually mitigating anything. Other heal specs have similar cooldowns which actually mitigate tons of damage, not just delay it. Maybe increase the cooldown slightly but make it so the target takes 10-15% less damage for the duration.
Living Flame:
In PvE I just wish it had more ways to hit multiple people other than Leaping Flames and Echo spam. In PvP I wish there was something that occasionally made it instant-cast when I get hit, similar to warlocks with incinerate. Maybe a dual-option talent somewhere for these effects so they’re mutually exclusive?
Rewind:
I don’t know what can be done about this one, but it feels weirdly underwhelming. On paper it seems great, but in practice it just doesn’t compare to things like Revival, Tranquility, or Healing Tide Totem, especially in PvP. And then its base cooldown is also 1 minute longer than those options.
I’ve played most healers quite a bit except Holy Pally and Disc Priest, and these are my thoughts on this spec. I still enjoy it, I think it just needs a little love to become better represented to really feel good to play.
